Hello Honey Bear Card by June Guest Designer Simone Naoum

Today we have our first post from our June Guest Designer, Simone Naoum! We are thrilled to have Simone designing with us this month! Her amazing clean and simple cards are sure to inspire you! We can't wait to share what she creates with our stamps! Keep reading to find out more about Simone today and to check out her first project below!

Hello, everyone! I'm so excited to announce that I am a guest designer for Newton's Nook Designs
My name is Simone Naoum, and I live in Perth, Western Australia with my hubby, our identical twin girls and our fluffy little kitty cat. I originally grew up in a small country town a few hours south of Perth, and will always be a country girl at heart.

My girls are now in kindergarten so in between housework and before school pick-up I like to sneak into my craft room and get stamping.

I have always had a love for cute stationary and paper products from a young age, (which soon turned into a patterned paper obsession) which lead me into card making and stamping! 10 years on and I still love pretty papers but I am now obsessed with rubber stamping and creating cards. My style is definitely clean and simple, as I love lots of clean white space, along with paper piecing and adding in a few fun embellishments.

Hello Everyone
I'm so excited to finally be able to share with you all today, that I am the guest designer for the month of June at Newton's Nook Designs!

This was a bit of hard secret to keep quiet for a while, as I just love working with their sweet stamp sets! For today's card I used the adorable Winston's Honeybees stamp set to create a sweet paper pieced honey bear card.
Hello Honey Bear Card by June Guest Designer Simone Naoum | Winston's Honeybees stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

I started this card by stamping the bear and bee images onto some plain white cardstock and again onto various pattered papers. I then used my Silhouette Cameo machine and the pixscan mat to cut out the images that were stamped onto plain white cardstock. Next I fussy cut all the elements from the patterned papers and paper pieced them all together onto the white cardstock images.

Before sticking the images down onto my card base, I arranged them where I wanted them to go and stamped on my sentiment and the dotted heart trail for the bee. Finally I stuck down Winston and the bees with some adhesive foam, before embellishing the card with some yellow sequins and a black enamel dot.

I absolute love this cute little stamp set! Aren't Winston and those bees just cute?! I hope you enjoyed my first card for Newton's Nook Designs?  I'll be back again next Monday with another one for you all!

Thank you for stopping by.
- Simone

Hello Honey Card by May Guest Designer Cassie Tezak

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I'm back with another card using some adorable Newton's Nook products. I wanted to use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, so that's where my card for today started!

IMG_1001Hello Honey Card by May Guest Designer Cassie Tezak | Winston's Honeybees Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook
I started by cutting down some Bristol Smooth card stock to 4 1/4 by 4 1/4. I stamped the sweet little bee hive and heart stamp from the Winston's Honeybees set all over the piece of paper. I used my Zigs to color them in.

Hello Honey Card by May Guest Designer Cassie Tezak | Winston's Honeybees Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

I used a light gray color to fill in the background. I completely fell in love with this color combo. It is so soft and pretty. For my sentiment I wasn't sure how I wanted to add it without letting it get lost in the background. I die cut two hearts, one from vellum and one from Neenah Solar White card stock. I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark and heat embossed white embossing power on the vellum heart. Then I used my Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink to ink blend on the back of the vellum.

Hello Honey Card by May Guest Designer Cassie Tezak | Winston's Honeybees Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

I glued the vellum to the white heart and added some Spectrum Noir shimmer over the top of the vellum. I attached the heart with foam tape to the center of the handmade background.

Hello Honey Card by May Guest Designer Cassie Tezak | Winston's Honeybees Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

To finish off the card I added some black dots in the background just to fill in the empty spaces. And that's it for my card today! I hope you liked it. Thank you so much for stopping by. I'll have another card for you soon!

Just bee-cuz Card by May Guest Designer Cassie Tezak

Today we have our first post from our May Guest Designer, Cassie Tezak! We are so excited to have Cassie designing for us this month! Her use of bright colors and cheerful designs will definitely make you smile! We can't wait to share what she creates with our stamps! Scroll down to read more about Cassie today and to check out her first project!

Hello! My name is Cassie, and I'm so excited to be a guest designer for Newton's Nook Designs! I live in Duluth, Minnesota. Work and school keep me from crafting all day long, but I still manage to get some time working with stamps and ink! I have a year old kitten, Milly, who gets into just about everything and a never ending pile of books to be read :) My style for crafting incorporates a lot of color using different techniques and products. Some of my favorite ways to add color are Distress Inks and Copics. If you'd like to see more of my work my blog is: www.creativelycass.wordpress.com
Hello, everyone! I'm so excited to announce that I am a guest designer for Newton's Nook Designs for the month of May! It's been hard to keep this secret in because I've been so pumped to work with this awesome company. The card I have for today uses a mix of Newton's Nook Designs products, as well as my Distress Oxides to create a fun and bright card that can be sent anytime. Let's take a look.

image2v

I started this card by taking a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock and cutting it down to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Then I took some of my stitched circle dies and placed them on the panel. Once I had them where they were spaced out enough, I ran them through my die machine. I wanted to have circles where colored could show through from the bottom piece of paper. I used my Distress Oxides and and ink blender to achieve a rainbow blended look on a piece of paper and splattered it with water to get some of that great oxide effect.

image4f
Once that bottom layer was dry I adhered it to the top panel that had the die cut circles. Next I grabbed the Lovely Blooms stamp set and stamped the jar onto some Neenah Solar White. I also stamped a couple of the pieces that are intended to be flower parts, but instead I made them look like a brand and leaves for the insect jar. I also stamped a bee from Wintson's Honeybees stamp set inside the jar, and a couple to be used outside of the jar. I colored all of the images in with my Copics and fussy cut them out./div>

image3vvv

I wanted to have it look like two of the bees had escaped the jar so I took the dotted line stamp from Wintson's Honeybees  stamp set and stamped it using my Misti stamping tool to ensure I got good crisp lines since it was going over the layers of paper. To make the dotted lines look different I masked off the heart on one of them and fixed any imperfections with my Copic Multiliner. I attached the jar and two bees with foam tape. Finally, I stamped the sentiment 'just bee-cuz' in Versamark on some Kraft card stock and heat embossed some clear embossing powder over top. I attached the piece to my card with some glue. The card panel was attached to a card base, and that was it for this card! I just love how these pops of color look against the white card stock. And those cute little bees are just too cute! Their little dotted fly patterns make me smile :D I hope you enjoyed my first card for Newton's Nook Designs! I'll be back again soon with another one. Thanks so much for stopping by!
