Kitty with Margarita | Card by Tatiana Trafimovich | Newton Loves Tacos Stamp Set, Lemon Twist Stamp Set and Cocktail Mixer Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

MEOW-garitas!

Today we are sharing MEOW-garitas with Newton on this fun card by Tatiana!

For this card, She started with the image of the kitty with the margarita from our new Newton Loves Tacos Stamp Set. She colored the image, adding fun stripes to the fur and glitter to the edge of the glass to look like a salt garnish! She cut the image out using the coordinating Newton Loves Tacos Die Set

Next, she stamped a second margarita, this time using our Cocktail Mixer Stamp Set. She colored it to match the first margarita, again adding the sparkle for the edge of salt. This image was cut out using the coordinating Cocktail Mixer Die Set.

To add to the fun lime theme, she added big fruit slices using images our Lemon Twist Stamp Set. She colored the slices green instead of yellow to make them into limes! She cut these out using the coordinating Lemon Twist Die Set

Here is a close up so you can see all the fun details:

For her card base she created a fun lime green to pink gradient using distress inks and then added sun rays over the top using our Sunscape Stencil with glittery texture paste. She added all the fun images over the background and added a few sequins too. The sentiment "Let's get Meow-garitas!" from the Newton Loves Tacos Stamp Set is the purr-fect finishing touch!

Cheers for You Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Cheers for You Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Slimline Die Set, Bubbly Stencil, and Newton Celebrates Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Cheers For You!

Today Ellen is sharing a fun celebratory card using our Newton Celebrates Stamp Set. Although we shared many cards over New Year's Eve using this stamp set, she wanted to show how you can use this card for any celebration throughout the year!

For her card today, she colored the kitty in the martini glass from the Newton Celebrates Stamp Set using copic markers. She added such fun patterns to the fur and sweet pink cheeks too! The image was cut out using the coordinating Newton Celebrates Die Set. She also colored a chocolate from the Love & Chocolate Stamp Set and some bubbles and confetti from the Newton's New Year Stamp Set. She used the coordinating Love & Chocolate Die Set and Newton's New Year Die Set to cut these out.

Cheers for You Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Slimline Die Set, Bubbly Stencil, and Newton Celebrates Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook
For the card base, she created a slimline card using our Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set to give the pink panel a fun scalloped edge. Then she added to the celebration theme by using our Bubbly Stencil with orange and yellow distress inks and layering that on top of the scalloped frame.

To finish out the card, she used the word "cheers" on the top, cut out using our Cocktail Mixer Die Set from pink glitter paper. The "for you" was stamped from our Newton Celebrates Stamp Set and embossed in white.

We hope you enjoyed this fun project today from Ellen! To see more unique creations by Ellen, you can visit her over at her blog Crafty Ellen!

Cheers to You Card by Naki Rager

Cheers to You Card by Naki Rager | Newton Celebrates and Cocktail Mixer Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Cheers!

Get ready to celebrate with this fun card by Naki! This adorable card features the cute kitty in a martini glass from our Newton Celebrates Stamp Set. She stamped the kitty with light colored ink and colored the image in soft colors, adding a fun green hue to the cocktail! Then she cut the image out using the coordinating Newton Celebrates Die Set to add to her card. For the card she created a fun shaker window using our Framework Die Set to get that fun scalloped edge. She also embellished the frame with "Here's to you" Sentiment from our Cocktail Mixer Stamp Set and the "cheers" die cut sentiment from the Cocktail Mixer Die Set!

This card is dual purpose - it works great as a Birthday card but she also chose a green and gold color combo so that it doubles as a St. Patrick's Day Card! How fun is that for a March Birthday?

Birthday Serenade Card by Naki Rager | Caroling Newton Stamp Set and Music Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Serenading Kitties Birthday Card!

Today we are sharing this adorable music themed birthday card by Naki! For this card she featured the trio of kitties singing from our Caroling Newton Stamp Set. Although this set has a holiday theme, with a bit of creativity, Naki transformed it into an image that can be used for a birthday card! After die cutting out the kitties with the coordinating Caroling Newton Die Set, she fussy cut the tassels off the hats to make them into regular knit caps. She also covered up the holiday markings on the song books by covering their fronts in blue glitter! What a fun way to STRETCH your holiday stamps! She colored the rest of the image using watercolor markers.  For the background she used our Music Stencil to add in rows of music, layering it over pink and green distress ink. She added the sentiment, sung by those cute kitties, using words from our  Cocktail Mixer Stamp Set. Then she framed the whole scene with the scalloped rectangle die cut from our Frames & Flags Die Set

No Whining – Just Good Wine Here Cards by October Guest Designer Bobbi Lemanski

Hi there! It’s Bobbi Lemanski, the October guest designer for Newton’s Nook. Today, I’m sharing some cards using the stamp set, Wine A Little along with a few other sets. You certainly won’t hear any whining from me, because I loved working with this flavorful wine set!
An Aging Wine is a Fine Wine!

Wine Card by October Guest Designer Bobbi Lemanski | Wine A Little and Beautiful Leaves Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Figure 1: Card features Wine a Little and Beautiful Leaves stamp sets and dies.

My first card pairs Wine a Little (and dies) and Beautiful Leaves (and dies) stamps sets together. Using purples, pinks and reds, I watercolored the background on Canson XL watercolor paper, mimicking the look of spilled wine. The leaves and wine images were colored using Copic Markers in colors that “age” the look of the bottles and their labels.

Figure 2: A watercolor background mimics the look of spilled wine.

This card has an amazing color vibrancy from the watercolors that contrasts well with the gray-tones of the leaves. No perfection needed here…. spilled wine is good wine in this case!

Book Club Gal Pals

Book Club Wine Card by October Guest Designer Bobbi Lemanski | Wine A Little and Classy Teachers Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Figure 1: An oversized wine bottle, glass and cork makes fun of the amount of wine consumed at book club.

When I hear wine, I immediately think of my book club gals in my town. These amazing ladies love reading lots of books and drinking fine wine while we discuss each book. This card was completely inspired by them. The phrase from the set was perfect for this idea.

Figure 2: Combining two sets can create humorous and unique card ideas.

I used the lovely ladies in Classy Teachers and Holding Happiness to represent the book club gals. With a few minor modifications to the cake lady (in HH), I was able to create a gal holding a tray of books to go with the two gals from Classy Teachers. I created room for them to gather in using a few lines and a ruler.

Figure 3: Personalize your message with a white gel pen on a black chalkboard.

I love the idea of personalizing the chalkboard with any message. Think of all the things you can do with Classy Teachers! Even if your handwriting is less than perfect, don’t worry. A chalkboard is meant to be a little messy and imperfect (look at mine!)

Wine a Lot… Like a Million, Billion, Zillion!

Wine Card by October Guest Designer Bobbi Lemanski | Wine A Little and Thankful Thoughts Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Figure 2: Alcohol Inks on a transparency sheet create an artistic window.

My next card combines Wine a Little stamp set and dies with the Thankful Thoughts phrase set. One of the phrases in the set says, Thanks a million, billion…etc. I loved the idea of showing lots of gratitude not only in the words, but in the images (as you will see in the inside), too.

Wine Card by October Guest Designer Bobbi Lemanski | Wine A Little and Thankful Thoughts Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Figure 3 Wine a Little  stamps and dies were used to embellish the front.

I also used “You’re the best!” from Thankful Thoughts and “Here’s to you!” from Cocktail Mixer. Sequins accented the images from Wine a Little on the front.
Wine Card by October Guest Designer Bobbi Lemanski | Wine A Little and Thankful Thoughts Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Figure 4 Stacks of wine bottles visually portray the huge amounts of gratitude expressed in words.

I wanted to portray the huge amount of gratitude in the images to match the phrase, so I stacked the wine bottles up to create a wall of bottles in the inside that could show through the window.

The window is covered with an alcohol-inked transparency sheet I created. I find working with alcohol inks to be fascinating. I love how the red and pink inks mixed and blended on this one. I also used Alcohol Lift Ink from Ranger to remove the ink to match the design underneath. By placing the transparency sheet over the cardstock (I put the cardstock piece in a bag to protect it), I matched the bottles and lifted the ink.  You can see it here in this photo with the light capturing the lifted design. It allowed the images stamped in the inside of the card to really show through from the front.

I’ll have another set of cards to share next week. I raise my wine glass to Newton’s Nook for these great sets and to you, for joining me today!

Zsofia Molnar
safsafdesign

Hello! My name is Zsofia Molnar and I am a card maker from Hungary. I am thrilled to join this amazing Design Team. I live in beautiful Budapest with my 2 kids (7 and 4 years old) and the most loving husband ever. We are a truly trilingual family as my husband is Egyptian and we communicate with each other in English. I started paper crafting more or less 4 years ago when I was fascinated by all the pretty scrapbook layouts. I have never even made a single one, but rather fell in love with making cards and sharing handmade kindness with my family and friends. I am an addict since then, I have to be crafty every day to feel good. This is my little escape. I love cute critters, florals and I really enjoy building scenes with layers. I am curious to try new techniques but my favourites are still Copics and Distress inks. You can follow my crafty journey on my blog: www.safsafdesign.wordpress.com or on Instagram @safsafdesign2016.

Zsofia has been using our stamps for quite some time and has a few favorites she'd like to share today today. Srcoll down to see her lovely work!

Hello Everyone,

I am thrilled to join the Newton’s Nook Designs Design Team as of July 2018, it is a dream come true. You might have seen my cards on the Inky Paws Challenges during the past year. As an introduction I brought you today some of my favourite cards.

Kitty Anniversary Card by Zsofia Molnar | Newton's Christmas Cuddles Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Wedding on the Beach

I love to stretch my stamps and find more and more occasions to use them. On this card I used the kitty couple from Newton’s Christmas Cuddles (one of my favourite sets), I placed them on the beach and added some accessories, so they look like getting married. Perfect for summer weddings!

Princess Birthday Card by Zsofia Molnar | Once Upon a Princess Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Princess Birthday

I am a huge fan of patterned paper and love to combine them on my cards. For my daughter’s 7th birthday I made this card using an Inky Paws Challenge sketch as a guide for the layout. The girl from Once Upon a Princess set was coloured to match the patterned papers, I do this often. I also love to use gems and crystals as a little extra bling.
Summer Cocktails Card by Zsofia Molnar | Cocktail Mixer Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Rainbow Cocktails
I love colours so much, they cheer me up. Usually my cards are bright, I enjoy including a rainbow whenever it is possible. The cute drinks from Cocktail Mixer were coloured in a rainbow order and got some extra shimmer and shine thanks to my favourite Shimmer Pen and Glossy accents. I believe these little details add a lot to card designs.
Unicorn card by Zsofia Molnar | Believe in Unicorns Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Unicorns
I am falling for cute critters and I adore unicorns which is probably the effect of my daughter. I often make my own backgrounds using distress inks and I love to use colourful inks to stamp my sentiments. On this card I used the Believe in Unicorns stamp and die set, coloured with Copic markers which is my favourite colouring medium.
Kitties sharing a coffee card by Zsofia Molnar | Newton's Sweetheart Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Coffee addict
And last, but not least, I am a coffee addict. I love mine long with milk, from my favourite mug. I cannot imagine starting the day without it. The kitties from Newton’s Sweetheart are also sipping something like that instead of milk on this cheerful card. I also love to use tags as part of my card designs, they help setting the scene.

I hope you like my cards and I put a smile on your face. See you soon but till then happy crafting!
- Zsofi

Hi, I'm Samantha Mann and I couldn't be happier to continue for another term with Newton's Nook Designs!! My husband and I have lived all over the US, from Washington State to Florida, but we're currently in hot, humid, coastal South Carolina! We have two little boys (who I usually call my little menn)! I have always been in love with school supplies (ever since elementary school when I would save my nickels to buy cute pencils or erasers!) and that love just grew and developed into my crazy obsession (read: passion!) of paper crafting! I love making cards and even dabble with the occasional scrapbook layout! I tend to lean towards clean and simple design, but not always! I am all about learning new techniques from fellow crafters! I'm definitely quirky, and love to make playful, humorous sentiments for my cards (and layouts)! I work full time for an advertising company and spend every other moment I can paper crafting, reading and enjoying the little moments in everyday family life.

Hello stampers and crafters. My name is Maria Russell and I am so THRILLED to be a part of the Newton’s Nook Designs design team.  My husband and I have lived all over the world and we have two talented, beautiful children (now adults).

My love for paper crafting began in high school when my friends and I wrote each other letters, took photos, kept a journal and scrapbooks.  It kind of looked like a smash-book because I had everything in there from ticket stubs, to beautiful napkins, to candy wrapper.  Paper crafting is very therapeutic for me.  I only ventured into card making in 2013 and I am hooked!  I was really honored when one of my cards got published at Scrapbook and Cards magazine, Creative Cards Volume I in 2015.

I am so HAPPY to be a part of this amazing design team!  I’d be honored if you’d like to visit my blog: www.mariarusselldesigns.com
