Harvest Blessings Card by September Guest Designer Priscilla Joseph

Newton's Nook Designs September 2021 Guest Designer Priscilla Joseph
Hello Crafty Friends!

I am delighted to be back for my 3rd blog post as the September Guest Designer for Newton's Nook Designs.

Unlike last week’s card, which featured only black, gray, and white, today’s mini slimline card is bursting with the vibrant and contrasting fall colors of rust and navy. I love this bold combination! My card features the Autumn Newton Stamp Set (coordinating dies are available). This adorable 4 x 6 stamp set showcases Newton participating in lots of fun fall activities. Plus, I used the Falling Leaves Stencil to create a three-dimensional background on the card. And just for fun, I created a mini slimline envelope to match!

Card Details:
  • I created a mini slimline card base (6” x 7”, scored at 3.5”) out of dark rust card stock.
  • To create the background scene, I used white embossing paste tinted with the “Rusty Hinge” Distress Oxide re-inker and then spread it through the Falling Leaves stencil over navy card stock.
  • The image was colored with Copic markers and die cut out.
  • For added dimension, I paper pieced a navy bow over the stamped bow.
  • I stamped the sentiment “harvest blessing” onto light rust card stock and adhered it and a circle frame onto the embossed leaf background.

  • Finally, the colored image was foam mounted on top of the circle and the card was finished by framing it in the same light rust colored card stock before adhering it to the slimline card base.
  • For a finishing touch, I created a matching mini slimline envelope and used the Falling Leaves stencil and “Rusty Hinge” Distress Oxide ink to add leaves to the front.

I hope you enjoyed today’s vibrant autumn card. Stay tuned for my 4th and final card next week. Here’s a hint – should candy corn be included in “Food Pyramid”?

She colored all these fall themed images in gorgeous autumn colors. Then she cut them out using the coordinating Sunflower Days Die SetPaw-tumn Newton Die Set and Autumn Newton Die Set. After all the images were colored and cut out use carefully arranged them over a lightly blue inked background to create the gorgeous autumn wreath shape. The Sentiment "be thankful" is from our Autumn Newton Stamp Set. Lastly, she framed the whole panel with a scalloped frame, cut from patterned paper using our Frames & Flags Die Set

Fall Themed Card Duo by August Guest Designer Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome, it's Angie Cimbalo here with another guest design post for August.  I'm so honored to be here sharing my creations with you!

I have two fall themed cards using stamps from the Autumn Newton Stamp Set & Beautiful Leaves Stamp Set, along with the Newton's Nook Gingham Stencil, and a few of the bird feathers stamps from the Newton Birthday Flutter Stamp Set, that I used as falling leaves.

Fall Themed Cat Card by August Guest Designer Angie Cimbalo | Autumn Newton Stamp Set and Clouds Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Here's a closer look at my first card:

Fall Themed Cat Card by August Guest Designer Angie Cimbalo | Autumn Newton Stamp Set and Clouds Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
I inked the clouds using the Clouds Stencil with Distress Ink in "Speckled Egg" and a blender brush. Next I added a little light green ink on the bottom for the grassy ground. I stamped and cut the cute Newton images and colored them with a mix of alcohol markers, Zig Clean Color brushes and Prismacolor pencils. I added the image on the right and the one on the left, directly to the card and then popped the middle image up on foam tape for dimension.

The sentiment was heat embossed in white on brown card stock, then cut into a banner and popped up on foam tape in the top left corner. Here's one last look at my Autumn pile of kitties!

Now that is one cute pile of Autumn goodies!

Here's my next project:

Fall Themed Cat Card by August Guest Designer Angie Cimbalo | Autumn Newton Stamp Set, Beautiful Leaves Stamp Set, Newton's Birthday Flutter Stamp Set and Gingham Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
For my second card, I used the Gingham Stencil. I only wanted a small portion of the pattern as a backdrop so I took an oval die and cut it with my Gemini Junior, then used the opening as a mask. I used Distress Oxide "Fossilized Amber" and a blender brush to stencil inside the oval, then removed the mask and die cut the white panel with a dotted rectangle die. The two larger leaves at the top are stamped and cut from the Autumn Newton Stamp Set and the small leaves are really feathers from the Newton's Birthday Flutter Stamp Set stamp set, colored to look like small falling leaves.

The image is from Autumn Newton Stamp Set colored with the same markers and pencils as my first card. After I colored the image I added it to the bottom of the plaid oval. I cut a brown mat for the main white top panel, then heat embossed the sentiment in white on the same brown card stock. The sentiment, from the Beautiful Leaves Stamp Set, was cut with another dotted rectangle die and popped up on foam tape.

After gluing the brown panel to the card base, I popped the white panel up on fun foam for dimension. The final step was to add two colors of Nuvo Jewel drops: "Orange Marmalade" and "Limoncello" in various spots on the card.

Here's one last look at my card:

Interactive Halloween Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Today we have another fun interactive project to share by Ellen! Each month she is sharing an interactive project to inspire you!

Today is she's sharing a Halloween Slider card where the ghost moves across the scene card when you pull out the slider tab!
Interactive Halloween Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Boo Hoo, Fox Hollow and Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Sets and Land Borders Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Here are step-by-step instructions from Ellen on how to make a card like this:

Interactive Halloween Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Boo Hoo, Fox Hollow and Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Sets and Land Borders Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  1.  Color all images of your choice. For this card I used Copic Markers and colored images from several sets. The ghost is from the Boo Hoo Stamp Set, the trees are from the Fox Hollow Stamp Set, the leaves and acorn are from the Autumn Newton Stamp Set and the row of houses is from the Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set. All of them were cut out using the coordinating die sets. To make the ghost a little bit more cute I did glue a few “eye” enamel dots on his face.
  2. (Photo on Right) cut out all the scene objects. You need a sky, a hill and a grass shape using the Land Borders Die Set. These shapes where colored then with distress ink. I also added the Happy Halloween sentiment on the top using the Halloween Trio Stamp Set. On the hill you cut out a small rectangular shape. Next to that you need a little bigger rectangular shape as slider tag. I used one of the toppers from the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set, so I could put twine through the slider tag.

Interactive Halloween Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Boo Hoo, Fox Hollow and Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Sets and Land Borders Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  3. (Photo on Left) Cover the backside with pop dots and self adhesive foam. Make sure the slider tag fits in the spot with the opening. Close only one side on the left or right, so you have a stop point when you push in the tag.
  4. (Photo on Right) Put the scene together. Afterward you need to place the tag in the correct furthest in position. Put foam adhesive on the opening on top of the tag and place your ghost on top of the foam. I mounted the whole scene on a scallop edge black panel that was cut out using the Framework Die Set. Then I mounted it all to the card base with some spooky word patterned paper!
Here is how the finished card looks before you pull the slider:
The ghost is hiding behind the trees!

When the slider is pulled the ghost moves to be revealed between the trees:

Spring Kitty and Flowers Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

Just Because Spring Kitty and Flowers Card by Tatiana Trafimovich | Autumn Newton Stamp Set and various other Stamps and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

    Just Because it's Spring!

Today Tatiana took a stamp set that was meant for fall and used a little creativity to make a fun Spring card! She started out with the image of the kitty and barrel from our Autumn Newton Stamp Set. The barrel holds pumpkins but she covered them with layers of flowers using tons of tiny flowers from our Bitty Bunnies Stamp Set and Holding Happiness Stamp Set and leaves from our Deer Friend Stamp Set. She used the coordinating dies to cut them out and layered them over the image, leaving the kitty peeking over the top! She also added a little butterfly on the kitty tail from the Bitty Bunnies Stamp Set.

Just Because Spring Kitty and Flowers Card by Tatiana Trafimovich | Autumn Newton Stamp Set and various other Stamps and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

To create the rest of the scene she used our Cloudy Sky Stencil with white embossing paste to create the lovey clouds and then inked over them with blue ink. She used the grass from our Land Borders Die Set too. She created some dimension by popping up the scene from the background on a stitched rectangle that was cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set. And last, she added on the "just because" sentiment from the Little Lilies Stamp set! Wow!

This is so cool! Are you inspired to look at your seasonal stamps in a new way and see what you could create?

Enjoy the Little Things Card by Jennifer Timko

Enjoy the Little Things Fall Kitty Card by Jennifer Timko | Autumn Newton & Happy Little Thoughts Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

    Enjoy the Little Things!

Today we have another beautiful Fall card by Jennifer!  She used the sweet image of the kitty with the Fall pumpkins and gourds from our Autumn Newton Stamp Set and did some beautiful watercoloring on the image. The way she added multiple colors on that kitty is so cute! She also stamped and colored a few of the tiny leaves from the Autumn Newton Stamp Set and then she trimmed it all out using the coordinating Autumn Newton Die Set. For the shape behind the kitty she cut out the circle with the flat bottom from our new Snow Globe Shaker Die Set. What a fun way to get more use out of the snow globe shape! Then she added on the "enjoy the little things" sentiment from our Happy Little Thoughts Stamp Set. This sentiment is such a perfect reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things during the seasons! She finished off her card, adding it all to a fun woodgrain card base with a bit of burlap! So perfect for Fall!

Autumn Fun Card by Guest Designer Tracy Freeman

Hey guys September is going by so quickly !

Today I am sharing a Autumn card with you made with the super cute Autumn Newton Stamp Set.
Autumn Cat Card by Guest Designer Tracy Freeman | Autumn Newton Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

I watercolored this piece after stamping him onto some Canson Watercolour Card. I wanted to go for a black kitty with a white face to match one of my own kitties.

I had a lot of fun watercoloring the leafs all the different colours and tones and as I wanted the image to be the main focus I added some basic shading around him.

I die cut the main piece out along with some Gina K card stock and Echo Park patterned paper and then used a scallop border die from Simon Says stamp along the edge of the red card before heat embossing the sentiment.

To finish the card off I added some natural twine and adhered all the pieces to an A2 top folding notecard and it was done.

Have you checked out the new release ? All I can say is I am glad it is my birthday month because I want to buy the whole release!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have a great day!

    Happy Crafting!
    -Tracy
