Time for Candy Corn! 

Today Donna has created a yummy candy card featuring a fall favorite - candy corn! 

She started out by creating a fun background using our Candy Corn Stencil Set! This set includes three layers so it's easy to make that traditional 3 color candy treat! She inked hers over black cardstock for a fun and unique look! It's so fun how you can still see all three colors over the black! The stenciled panel was die cut using our Frames & Flags Die Set to give it a fun scalloped edge too. 

On top of this fun background she added some brightly colored candy corn for a fun contrast! She used our Candy Corn Stamp Set and Candy Corn Die Set to create these cuties! She also added the fun candy corn sentiment from the  Candy Corn Stamp Set onto the card center. She framed is using circles that were die cut using our Circle Frames Die Set. That orange scalloped border really makes the sentient pop! 

This card is making me hungry for candy corn! Have you purchased any yet this year? I admit that we already have a bag in our house!

Candy Corn Counts as a Vegetable, right? Card by September Guest Designer Priscilla Joseph

Hello Crafty Friends!
I am feeling a little bummed that this is my 4th and final post as the September Guest Designer for Newton's Nook Designs. But I certainly enjoyed the opportunity to showcase Newton’s Nook adorable images for you every Monday this month. I want to especially thank Jennifer and Samantha for inviting me to be on the blog. It was an honor!

The hint I posted last week for today’s card was “Should candy corn be included in the ‘Food Pyramid’?” Did you guess that I would be featuring the Candy Corn Stamp Set and Candy Corn Stencil Set? You guessed right!

 

This final card has a touch of “silly” in it as I literally played out the stamp set’s sentiment, “Candy Corn counts as a Vegetable, right?”. I sponged shades of green through the Candy Corn Stencil Set and Copic-colored the candy corn images themselves in those same vegetable green shades.

Card Details:

• I created an A2 card base and layered green cardstock over it.
• I used the new 3-piece Candy Corn layered stencil set to create a “three-toned” candy corn background (using dark green, medium green, and white pigment inks on kraft cardstock.) This was so easy to accomplish as all three stencils feature etching of the opposite layers for easy alignment.
• The candy corn images were stamped and colored with Copic markers and die cut out.
• I created a planter stand out of green cardstock and cut the top edge with a grass die.
• The sentiment “Candy Corn counts as a Vegetable, right?” was white heat embossed on top and then adhered over the “planted corn”. 

 

I hope you enjoyed my literal interpretation of this funny stamp sentiment. I know I was giggling just a little as I was creating this card. And I hope I was able to inspire you to make Autumn or Halloween cards using Newton’s Nook products.

Candy Corn Counts as a Vegetable Card by Maria Russell

Bring on the Candy Corn!

Today we have a fun Halloween card by Maria that is perfect for anyone who loves candy corn! 

She starts out by creating a fun candy corn background using our three piece Candy Corn Stencil Set. This fun layering stencil makes it easy to use multiple colors as each layer has etching of the previous layer for easy of alignment! 

Next, she created a fun tag using our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set. She added fun zig zagged layers on the bottom with the included mini border pieces included in this die set. She added stamped candy corn and the sentiment using our Candy Corn Stamp Set and coordinating Candy Corn Die Set. So fun!

Halloween Pocket Letter by Ellen Haxelmans

 

Pocket Letter!

Today Ellen has created a fun Halloween themed pocket letter. She started with a page protector with built in pockets (the kind you find for trading cards or scrapbooking albums). Then she had the idea to fill the pockets with stamped items and treats for the recipient!

The top pocket has a fun Halloween scene featuring the kitty on the broom from our Newton’s Boo-tiful Night Stamp Set. She colored the image and cut the kitty out using the coordinating Newton's Boo-tiful Night Die Set. She layered the kitty over a starry sky that she had created using our Starfield Stencil with silver paste. the sky also includes clouds created with our Sky Borders Die Set. Last, she added in little bats from our Witchy Newton Stamp Set.

The center pocket contains a cute tag that folds closed to hold candy. She created this tag using our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set. Then she added a decorative square over the tag using our Frames Squared Die Set.  She added in candy corn from our Candy Corn Stamp Set and candy pieces from our Hoppy Halloween Stamp Set.  She also added in that cute little bird from our Newton’s Easter Basket stamp Set. She used the coordinating dies from these sets to cut out the images.  

Then, for the bottom panel she created a bag from a paper bag that had a spiderweb printed on it. Over this she layered the image of the kitty in the boot from our Witchy Newton Stamp Set. She used the coordinating Witchy Newton Die Set to cut out the image. She also added the sentiment, layered over two flags that were cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set.

Tips on creating this card!

Below we have some tips from Ellen on how she created this unique project!

1. First I colored the illustrations. As you can see, I colored them in the same color scheme. This makes it easy to make them fit together.
2. For the pockets I decided to go with black, yellow and blue. The blue color was created by using distress inks. For the top card I also used the Starfield Stencil with Metallix Gel to make it looks like a night sky.
3. For one of the cards I used a spiderweb paper bag. This makes it possible to add goodies.

1. For the middle part I first created a shaker pocket. With the help of my fuse tool I sealed the pocket that holds sequins. The "Trick or Treat" word die from the Newton's Halloween Trio Die Set was perfect to fit in a circle. This made it possible to add it easily on the pocket.
2. The other side got a tag. To add candy on the tag I simply used a glue dot.

What a fun and unique way create a special treat for someone sweet!

Tatiana created this gorgeous trick or treat card. She used our Sunscape Stencil to create those radiating beams in the sky that highlight the cute trick or treaters from our new Halloween Trio Stamp Set. She also added in the "Trick or Treat" and Bat Die cuts using the bonus dies from the coordinating Halloween Trio Die Set.

The little ghosts on this card by Samantha are so cute! she added three little ghosts in a row from our Boo Hoo Stamp Set and added the cute little "boo" speech bubble to the last one. She also added some subtle bats in the sky using our new Flying Bats Stencil. So cute! 

Amanda used those cute little images from the new Candy Corn Stamp Set for this whimsical Halloween card. She stamped and die cut the little candy corns and added faces to the larger ones. Then she added them onto her card in a  fun circle shape with the sentiment in the center! She also used our Frames & Flags Die Set to cut the stitched rectangle. 

Juliana created this adorable Halloween card using our new Boo Hoo Stamp Set! She created a fun black and white background by repeatedly stamping the images on a black cardstock panel. Then she added cute little cut images in front, layering them onto little postage edged panels that were die cut using our Framework Die Set. She also used the framework die set to create the larger black background panel. 

Holly created this gorgeous watercolored card using purple watercolors over black bats that were added on with our Flying Bats Stencil. Then she colored those cute costumed friends from the new Halloween Trio Stamp Set and fussy cut them to layer over the top. She also added the Sentiment into a flag cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set. 

This fun Halloween card was created by Naki using our new Boo Hoo Stamp Set. Isn't it cute how she paper-pierced the owl? She also added a branch for him cutting it out using our What a Hoot Die Set. She used fun bold patterns and colors to create a fun and funky layout!

Ellen created this beautiful Halloween card featuring our new Halloween Trio Stamp Set. She colored those cute costumed friends and added them to her card along with some grass cut out using the Land Borders Die Set. She added the "Trick or Treat" and bat die cuts using the bonus dies from the coordinating Halloween Trio Die Set. She also used our Frames & Flags Die Set to cut the scallop edged and stitched rectangle panels.

This card by Larissa is perfect for a Halloween sweet tooth! She stamped all those candies using our Candy Corn Stamp Set across the bottom of her card and added fun gloss to them. Then she added the sentiment in a circle to really make it pop. The black splatters and sequins give it the perfect finishing touch!

The Halloween scene on this card by Maria is super fun! She used the costumed critters from our Halloween Trio Stamp Set as the focal point of her card, coloring them in fun bright colors. Then she created a lovely purple cloudy sky for them with a row of bats across the top! She used our Flying Bats Stencil along with some die cut from the Halloween Trio Die Set. Isn't it cool how the bat wings raise up to give the card dimension? 

This charming card was created by Zsofia using our cute little Boo Hoo Stamp Set. She added the two ghosts and the owl from the set to create a trio of fun Halloween friends! She also added the little die cut bats from our Halloween Trio Die Set. She finished out the card with the Happy Halloween sentiment from the Halloween Trio Stamp Set. So cute!
