Birthday Party Favors by Ellen Haxelmans

Birthday Party Favors by Ellen Haxelmans | Newton's Birthday Bash Stamp Set, Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set, Bleat Stamp Set and Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Kitty Themed Birthday Party!

Today Ellen has created a fun set of projects that are PURR-fect for kitty themed birthday party!

First, she decorated two party hats using our cute birthday themed cat images.  The hat on the left uses the image of a kitty eating birthday cake from our Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set. The hat on the left uses the image of the kitty opening gifts from our Newton's Birthday Bash Stamp Set. She colored both images with alcohol markers, adding tiny spots for details and pink cheeks. Then she cut the images out using the coordinating Newton Loves Cake Die Set and Newton's Birthday Bash Die Set. She also added hats and bits of confetti from the Newton Celebrates Stamp Set and Newton's New Year Stamp Set

She layered all the pieces over a circle that was cut out using our Circle Frames Die Set and adhered them to the fronts of the birthday hats!Birthday Party Favors by Ellen Haxelmans | Newton's Birthday Bash Stamp Set, Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set, Bleat Stamp Set and Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook
Next, she created a fun birthday banner:

For the banner she used the cupcake with a bite cut out of it from the Bleat Stamp Set. Then she added the cupcakes to banners cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set. For the center, she cut out another circle using our Circle Frames Die Set and added the "Did someone say CAKE?" message from our Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set, embossed in gold!

Trio of Birthday Tags by June Guest Designer Melissa Andrew

Hi ya everyone!  Melissa here and I’m so excited to share my second project as a guest designer here at Newton’s Nook Designs!  I love creating tags as they are perfect for birthday presents.  For today’s tags, I used a number of Newton’s Nook items including; Frames and Flags Die SetClouds StencilNewton Loves Cake Stamp SetBitty Bunnies Stamp Set and Dainty Daisies Stamp Set

Trio of birthday Tags by Guest Designer Melissa Andrew | Bitty Bunnies and Dainty Daises Stamp Sets and Clouds Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

I started by first using a tag die cut I had in my stash and cut white card stock. (If you don't have a tag die set, Newton's Nook has a fun one called Fancy Edges Tag Die Set.)  I also cut the banner die from the Frames and Flags Die. I decided to create three tags total.

Birthday Tags by Guest Designer Melissa Andrew | Frames & Flags Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Next, I used my tag die to cut the top of the banner so they would add to my tags easily.  I did a few ink blended clouds on the banner tags using the Clouds Stencil from Newton’s Nook.

I then stamped images from the Bitty Bunnies Stamp Set and Dainty Daisies Stamp Set in a light colored dye ink.  I wanted to create a no line watercolor look, and a light dye ink works perfectly.  After stamping each bunny and three dainty daisies I used my watercolor pens to water color the images.  I did this on Bristol Smooth paper.

Next, I fussy cut the bunnies and dainty daisies.  After fussy cutting, I cut the dainty daisies right in half.  I wanted each half for my tag.  I simply put them on my paper trimmer and cut them in the center.  I then adhered them to my inked banner.

I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from Newton Loves Cake and stamped on vellum with pigment black ink and then used a clear embossing powder.  I then used twine and ribbon to layer the banner onto the tag and then adhered the vellum around the entire tag.

Last, I added foam dots to the bunny images and popped them up on my tags.  I love the added dimension of the foam dots and it makes the bunnies the real star of the show!

I hope you enjoyed today’s birthday tag project and that you’ll join us again for more fabulous projects!

Kitty Birthday Cake Slimline Card by Tina Herbeck

Kitty Birthday Slimline Card by Tina Herbeck | Newton Loves Cake and Newton's Antics Stamp Sets and Slimline Dies and Masking Stencils by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

A Kitty Birthday Card!

Today Tina is sharing an adorable slimline birthday card featuring two of our favorite Newton stamp sets! In the center she features the kitty with the cake from our Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set and the kitties on the top and bottom are stamped from our Newton's Antics Stamp Set. She added birthday hats to all three kitties using the birthday hat from the Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set. Each kitty is colored with unique fur colors using copic markers.  She also added on the toy mouse, heart, toy ball and ball of yarn from our Newton's Antics Stamp Set. Since she changed the image shapes by adding the hats she used her Scan N Cut to cut out the images. But if you want to add the hats on separately you could cut everything out using the coordinating dies too (Newton's Antics Die Set, Newton Loves Cake Die Set).

To create the slimline card, she used cut a purple scallop edged frame using our Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set. On top of that she added the frame with 3 square windows from our Slimline Frames & Windows Die Set. Each window has an ink blended square behind it that was created using our Slimline Masking Circles & Squares Stencil Set with distress inks. This stencil is sized to coordinate perfectly with the square window frames!

She also mixed the sentiments from the Newton's Antics Stamp Set and Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set to create a fun kitty themed message inside each window.

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #500 | Cat Birthday Card by Jennifer Jackson | Newton Loves Boxes Stamp Set, Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set and Pawprints Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
If you are anything like me, I never have enough birthday cards on hand so I was excited to play along with the challenge theme of BIRTHDAY! I grabbed the one of my favorite kitty stamps from the Newton Loves Boxes Stamp Set to create a fun birthday card. I colored the image of the kitty in the stack of cardboard boxes using copic markers. This set doesn't have a birthday hat in it so I grabbed one from the Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set to add onto the kitties head! The images were cut out using the coordinating Newton Loves Boxes Die Set and Newton Loves Cake Die Set.

For the card, I kept it simple, using our Pawprints Stencil with orange and yellow distress inks over the white card base to create a fun cat themed background pattern. Then I added a strip of yellow cardstock across the bottom and added the sentiment from the Newton Loves Boxes Stamp Set. A little bit of white bakers twine is the finishing touch! This card was so simple to make and will be great to have on hand for a birthday greeting for any cat lover!

Newton Loves Cake Cards by August Guest Designer Angie Cimbalo

Hi everyone, it's Angie Cimbalo here with my 2nd guest design post for August! I'm so happy to be here to share my Newton's Nook card creations with you this month!

Newton Loves Cake Cards by August Guest Designer Angie Cimbalo | Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Today I have 2 cards made with Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set stamp and die set, one slimline and one A2 sized card using the same products for both.

Here's a look at the slimline card first:

Newton Loves Cake Cards by August Guest Designer Angie Cimbalo | Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

The cake-hungry kitties were colored with Spectrum Noir pastel markers and Prismacolor Pencils. Two of them were attached to black sentiment strips that were heat embossed in white.

All the images and sentiments were popped up on foam tape onto a background panel made from thin vellum paper pack by Creative Devotion. The paper is not quite large enough to cover the slimline design so I used 2 pieces with the "seam" connecting them hidden under the middle image/sentiment strip. The background was adhered to the card base with vellum adhesive.

Here's another view of my card:

Here's my 2nd card, and A2 size card made with the same goodies!

Newton Loves Cake Cards by August Guest Designer Angie Cimbalo | Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

This card was made the same way, except for the background I stacked 4 layers of the vellum on top of each other so that the colors and splatters would be more vibrant. Also because the card is smaller I only used 2 of the images and a different sentiment.

I love the "from scratch" part of the sentiment - it just makes me smile!

Here's another look:
Newton Loves Cake Cards by August Guest Designer Angie Cimbalo | Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

The Newton Loves Cake Stamp Set is one of my all time favorite Newton's Nook sets! The images are so cute and the sentiments are just fun!

I hope I've inspired you to create some sweet "cake" cards for your family and friends. They are perfect for anyone who loves cake!

I'll be back later in the month with some more creations to share with you, and thanks again to Jennifer and Samantha for inviting me to guest design this August - it's been soooo fun!

Paw-Some Shaker Birthday Cards by June Guest Designer Amy Tollner

Today we have our first post by our June Guest Designer, Amy Tollner! Amy has been an active participant in our Inky Paws Challenges for sometime and we have been admiring her creations! We are excited to have her as our guest this month and can't wait to to share what she creates! Check back each Monday to see them! Keep reading to find out more about her today and to check out her first project below.
Hi everyone! My name is Amy Tollner and I live in upstate New York with my husband, fur babies, and a turtle. I am an X-ray technologist and work three 12 hour days, which I love, because it gives me time to craft and volunteer for our local animal shelter. I have been making cards for about 5 years now. I really enjoy coloring stamped images with Copic markers, and I love using glitter and glossy accents for finishing touches on my projects! I am very honored and beyond excited to be the Guest Designer for Newton's Nook Designs this month. They are my favorite company and I love creating with their awesome products! Thank you so much and I hope you enjoy!

Hi everyone! For my first post I created two shaker cards because I couldn’t decide on just one!
Paw-Some Shaker Birthday Cards by June Guest Designer Amy Tollner | Paw-some Birthday Stamp Set, Confetti Stencil, Framework Die Set, and Frames & Flags Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
I started by blending Distress Oxide Ink backgrounds. For the first card I used Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, and Blueprint Sketch. On the second card I used Squeezed Lemonade and Picked Raspberry. They blend together very well to make that pretty orangey-coral color.
I then used the postage stamp die from the Framework Die Set, and the scalloped edge die from the Frames & Flags Die Set to cut out my backgrounds. After that, I used gorgeous glitter paste with one of my favorite stencils, the Confetti Stencil, to finish off my background pieces.
Paw-Some Shaker Birthday Cards by June Guest Designer Amy Tollner | Confetti Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
I love using the Framework Die Set pictured below to make a shaker card.  It’s just the right size to see the beautiful background you created and still add a fun shaker element to your card!  I added Distress Oxide Ink to the frames of each shaker.
Paw-Some Shaker Birthday Cards by June Guest Designer Amy Tollner | Framework Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
For the sentiment I used black pigment ink and clear heat embossed over it for a shiny look!  I attached my sentiment piece with liquid glue, patted down the acetate with a dryer sheet to help with static, and used two layers of foam tape to attach the shaker frames.
For this card I used the Paw-some Birthday Stamp Set and the coordinating Die Set and colored it with Copic markers.
