Sending You a Birthday Pug Card by Tina Herbeck

Birthday Pug!

This fun birthday card by Tina would be perfect for any dog lovers on your list! She features the adorable pug from our Pug Hugs Stamp Set. She colors him using alcohol markers, giving him a fun teal colored birthday hat. Tina cut out her images using a Scan N Cut but you could also use the coordinating Pug Hugs Die Set. 

For her card base she cut out a scallop edged panel using our Frames & Flags Die Set. She added a soft blue hue in the center of her panel to help the images pop. Behind the pup she also added balloons from our Delightful Doxies Stamp Set, coloring them teal, green, yellow and gray and added them behind the pup. Isn't it cute how she used twine to make strings for the balloons? Again, she cut her balloons out using a Scan N Cut but you could also use the coordinating Delightful Doxies Die Set.

To finish off this cute card, she added the birthday pug sentiment from the  Pug Hugs Stamp Set in the lower right corner and added some iridescent sequins around the balloons.

A Little Kindness Card by Newton's Nook March Guest Designer Eloise Blue

Today we have our first post from our March Guest Designer, Eloise Blue! Eloise has such an adorable card making style and we can't wait to see what she will create for us this month! Scroll down to read about Eloise and to check out her first project below!

Hello everyone, I’m Eloise, I’m 23 years old and I’ve been crafting for almost 5 years. I live in Perth, Australia with my two cats Tiger and Leo. By week I’m a Special Needs Education Assistant and by weekend I craft, make videos and blog. Over the years this hobby has gotten a lot more serious for me and now I’m completely addicted. I love to create cards with scenes, colouring and bright colours!

Hello everyone. Eloise here and today I'm here for my first post as a guest designer for Newton's Nook this month. I'm super excited to be here and to be working with these amazing fun stamps!

For my card today I'm going to be using the Delightful Doxies stamp set to create a simple sky themed card.

To begin my card today I first stamped out the little doggie that’s side on and holding the string in his mouth and then stamped the little balloon included in the set on top of the string too. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink along with white cardstock as I’m going to be Copic Colouring my images today. I used E53, E55 and E57 for the puppy, YG01, YG23, YG17 for the balloon and collar tag and then R21, R22 and R24 for the heart and collar. I used the darkest to lightest technique since I knew the colours blended well together and also it’s faster.

Once I finished my colouring I went ahead and fussy cut out the images leaving a small white border using some detail cutting scissors. Once it was trimmed out, I find that using scissors makes the image curl a little bit, so to resolve that issue I just run the cut image through my big shot machine between a piece of copy paper and then it turns flat and I’m much happier with how that looks.

Now my image is complete I can work on the background. For my background I decided to go ahead and cut a cloudy border from some masking paper and used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to ink blend over the sky. So I started at the bottom of the cardstock, blended a small amount just over the top of the die cut. I then removed the mask and moved it up slightly, leaving some white bits before placing my mask on top of my cardstock again. I just repeated this step till the whole background had been coloured.

I then took the ‘a little kindness goes a long way’ sentiment from the same Delightful Doxies stamp set and stamped it in the bottom left hand corner of my cloud panel. I then adhered down my puppy with his balloon with some foam adhesive onto the right side of the panel and that finished up the card for today.

Super simple card design for today, I hope you enjoyed and I’ll be back next Monday with another card.

Sweet Spring Puppy Card! 

Today's card by Samantha will make you say "Awwww!" I just love this sweet puppy grabbing onto the kite! She used the dachshund and kite images from our Delightful Doxies stamp set. I love how she fussy cut out the pup and added it over that fun watercolor background. And the geometric texture adds such a fun touch too! The "a little kindness goes a long way" sentiment is also from the Delightful Doxies stamp set.

February Guest Designer - Ka Slagoski

Meet Ka!

"Hi everyone! My name is Ka and I blog over at Stamping Smiles Designs. I’m so thrilled, honored and happy to join the Newton’s Nook’s Design Team as a guest for the month of February! I also want to give a big THANK YOU to Jen for the opportunity to be her Guest Designer this month!

I enjoy all things paper-crafting, but my real passion is card making. I started scrapbooking in 2007 and a couple months later, I was introduced to card making through a co-worker. It was immediate love! Whimsical, cutesy images are my favorite! I also enjoy organizing my crafting supplies. There is just something about having an organized, clean crafting studio. When I am not creating and organizing, I am spending time with my husband, playing games at Dave & Buster with friends, having family game nights, playing tennis, and watching my favorite comedy TV shows!"

For this card Ka did some created an adorable masculine birthday card using Winston from our Campfire Tails stamp set.

This cad by Ka is one of my favorites - I love the way she layered balloons with the kitty from our Newton's Birthday Bash stamp set! 

And one more cutie:  Ka created this adorable card using the doxie from our Delightful Doxies stamp set. I love the simplicity of this layout with the glossy balloon!

You Lift me up!!

Today I'm sharing this adorable sweet hot air balloon card by Samantha Mann! She had the great idea to use the image of the kitty in the hot air balloon from the Newton Dreams of Paris stamp set with the fun "You lift me up" sentiment from the Delightful Doxies stamp set. Isn't is adorable how the kitty is flying up into the watercolored sky? What a perfect card to make you smile!

Lunchbox Notes by Kimberly Rendino

Sweet Summer Lunchbox Notes!

Today I'm sharing this sweet set of lunchbox notes by Kimberly. She used the cute kite image from the Delightful Doxies stamp set and the hot air balloons from the Newton Dreams of Paris stamp set to make this cute mini duo of notes! The sentiments "you lift me up: and "fly away with me" are also from the  Delightful Doxies stamp set. I love the fun summer colors that she used to color in the images! These would be so cute to put in someone's lunch or bag to brighten their day!!

You lift me up Dachshund card

This sweet Doxie pup will lift your day! 

Today I'm sharing a sweet little doxie card using our Delightful Doxies stamp set. I stamped the pup and the balloon onto watercolor cardstock and then colored him using inktense pencils. I added the image to a fun card base with some pattern paper and washi tape and a lime green doily! To finish it off I embellished it with some teal and white bakers twine and sequins! I love how cheerful this card turned out! 

Party Balloons by Taheerah Atchia

Pretty Watercolored Balloons!

Today I'm sharing this sweet watercolored party card by Taheerah Atchia! She used the balloon from the Delightful Doxies stamp set and stamped it a bunch of times lightly and watercolored the ballons in soft colors! Then she hand-drew over the top of some of them to give it a sketchy feel.  She added some fun confetti and the word "party" from the Newton's Birthday Bash stamp set. I love the soft and sweet feeling this card has - it's so pretty!

A Little Kindness Card by Yukari Yoshioka

Sweet Dachshund card!

Did you just say "awwwww"? That's what I said when I first say this sweet card by Yukari. I love how she colored that cute little dachshund from our Delightful Doxies stamp set with grey and brown and added the butterfly to his nose! Did you notice that this is a shaker card - with fun flower shaped sequins inside the shaker? It's subtle, sweet and SO adorable!! The sentiment "a little kindness goes a long way" is also from the Delightful Doxies stamp set and makes this a perfect card to say thank you to a friend for doing something sweet!

Longing for You baby card by Samantha Mann

Sweet baby card!

Today I'm sharing this adorable baby card by Samantha Mann! I love how she used 3 different stamp sets to created this adorable combo of words and images. She used the trio of baby onesies from the Winged Wishes stamp set as the focal point and added in the tiny hot air balloons from the Newton Dreams of Paris stamp set. Then she added the "longing for you" sentiment which was meant to be a pun for the long pups in the Delightful Doxies stamp set but totally works for this baby card too! I love finding double meanings like that - what a great way to stretch your stamps!  I also love all the fun background texture and layering she added to this card! All those tiny details really make it special!

Happy Birthday Doxie!

Awww - this adorable dachshund birthday card by Stephanie Muzzulin is sure to make you smile! She used the sweet little doxie pup from the Delightful Doxies stamp set and paper pierced him along with the balloon to create a cute little scene. I love the string going from the ballon to the pups mouth! So CUTE! The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from the Newton's Birthday Bash stamp set. I also love the layers of pattern paper in such adorable little prints! What a sweet card!
