Relax & Unwind!

Today we are unwinding some fun with Samantha. This fun project features a creative combination of words and images that will definitely make you smile!

She started off by using the adorable image of the kitty hugging a big ball of twine from our Newton Unwinds Stamp Set. She stamped the image 3 times and colored each kitty gray. She colored the giant balls of yarn in an ombre colors to complete a rainbow. She added sweet pink cheeks to the kitties and white gel pen accents to her coloring. The images were all cut out using the coordinating Newton Unwinds Die Set. 

To create her card she added some black splatters to a white card base and then added the images with all their balls of yarn pointed to the center. The message "Relax & Unwind" was added to center. The sentiment was die cut the bonus words that are included with the Porch Swing Friends Die Set. To give the sentiment height she cut them several times and then glued and stacked them together. 

This whimsical card will is perfect for sending a cheerful hello to a friend!

Interactive Card by September Guest Designer Ellen Hax

Hello! It's Monday and that means it's time for a post from this month's guest!! YAY! This month it's me, Ellen, and I like to share a little coloring tip and a flip card.

It seems a lot people like how I color the cat stamps, because I get a lot of sweet comments from all of you! That's why I like to share where I got my inspiration for these kittens (stamp sets "Aloha Newton" and "Newton Dreams of London").

As you can see, the coloring is inspired by pictures found on Google. Do you see the similarities? To give the cats fur I use the flicking technique. With this technique you draw a little line upwards from the edges to the inside of the stamp with brush point of your marker. For animals it's important to try to follow the form of the body with your markers. This ensures that the animals will appear more vibrant and fuller.

I created a little summer and rain scene with both cats. The word 'or' on the first page was stamped with the word 'more' from a sentiment from the "Newton's Naptime" stamp set. On the inside I used a sentiment from the "Newton Unwinds" stamp set.

Banner Decoration by September Guest Designer Ellen Hax

Happy Monday! I'd like to introduce our guest designer for the month of September - Ellen Hax! 

Ellen is going to wow you this month with her incredible coloring skills! We have been a fan of her work for some time and can't wait to share her projects using Newton's Nook Designs stamps! Hello Newton-lovers!! I'm Ellen and super excited to be the next guest for Newton's Nook Design!! I'm 25 and at the point of many changes in my life (1st job, learn to drive, thinking about buying a house,...). Of course I love be creative in my spare time. This hobby started when I received a copic marker box that I got as Christmas present from my boyfriend two years ago. Probably he regret the present, because I'm seriously addicted to it now! hihi!!

It's time to show you my first project. Next to cards I also love to make other paper projects. Below I show you step by step how I made a paper banner for a friend. 

1. First cut a banner and use alpha stickers to spell a name, word,...

2. Than use a mini flag banner and make a small whole in a paper straw. You can sew your own banner or buy it like I did. Make a knot at the outside or use washi tape to stick the flag banner on the straw.
3. The most fun part is coloring of course. I used a kitty from the Newton's Holiday Mischief and from the Newton Unwinds stamp set.

4. The last step is to glue things down; I used a glue gun for it.

Of course I had to show a close up of the kittens, which are so cute:

Isn't it perfect to decorate your craft room or use as a cake topper? I had so much fun with it and I really hope this was inspiring!! See you next Monday.

Meow You Doing Card by Samantha Mann

Meowy Monday!

Mondays can be tough but this sweet kitty card by Samantha will definitely make your Monday better! She used the adorable image of Newton on his GIANT ball of yarn from our Newton Unwinds stamp set and added into onto this fun card base with a bit of white polka dot texture behind him. I love the mostly all black and white layout with just a POP of color with the hot pink yarn! So fun! She also layered o the "meow you doing?" sentiment, also from the Newton Unwinds stamp set. We hope this card made you smile today!

Sending Hugs Kitty card by Guest Designer Naki Rager

Big Kitty Hugs!

Today we are sharing an adorable kitty card by our May Guest Designer, Naki Rager. She used the image of the kitty on the big ball of yarn from our Newton Unwinds stamp set.

I love how she stamped the kitty with a light gray color to give it a soft edge! Then she fussy cut him out so she could layer him over the big yarn ball. She used some fun crochet trim too - which makes it look like Newton is un-rolling the yarn! What fun! It's super cook how she added a bunch of layers of paper and washi tape behind the image too!

Our April Guest, Christy played along with our challenge and created this yummy card! She used our Tag Sampler stamp set and Tags Times Two Die Set for the handmade with love tag. The little dotted heart image is from Winston's Honeybees. I love how she paired it with pattern paper that has handmade jars of yummy goodies on it! 

Samantha created this fun card using the sketch! I love the black and white background with the pop of color for the tag! She used our Tag Sampler stamp set and Tags Times Two Die Set for the tag. The ice cream is from the Summer Scoops stamp set. 

Jess created this fun BEE card using our new Tag Sampler stamp set and Tags Times Two Die Set  along with the cute bees from the Winston's Honeybees stamp set! I can just imagine those bees buzzing every direction!

Crafty Math-Chick had fun with our new Tag Sampler stamp set and Tags Times Two Die Set on her card. I love how she added in the ball of yarn from the Newton Unwinds set to create a fun background - and the subtle sweater paper too!

I created a mermaid themed card with this sketch! I used our Tag Sampler stamp set to stamp the tag and I cut it out with the Tags Times Two Die Set. Then I colored the mermaid from the Mermaid Crossing stamp set and fussy cut her out. I added the "have a FIN-tastic birthday" sentiment to the tag, also from the Mermaid Crossing stamp set!

Chase your Dreams Card by Jennifer Jackson

Inspirational Kitty Card!

Today I'm sharing a fun inspirational kitty card using the cat image from the Newton Unwinds stamp set! I stamped the image of the kitty chasing his yarn with waterproof black ink onto watercolor paper. I colored him using zig clean color watercolor brush markers. Then I cut it out using the coordinating Newton Unwinds Die Set. I decided to create a scene for this cute kitty so I found a couple patterned papers from my stash that had green in them and used a scissor to cut hills. Then I used a cloud paper for the sky. 

Since there was a lot of color going on I mounted it on a white cardstock piece to make it pop and add a break from all the color! I had embossed the white piece with a paw print embossing folder to add a bit of texture too. I added a little flag on the bottom and the "always chase your dreams" sentiment in a circle on the top. This sentiment is also from the Newton Unwinds stamp set. I mounted the whole thing onto a kraft card base to finish it off. I love how bright and cheery this turned out!
