Llama Birthday Card by Samantha Mann | Loveable Llamas Stamp Set, Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set, Essential Alphabet Die Set and Hills & Grass Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Llama Birthday Fun!

Need a card for an upcoming Birthday?  This fun card by Samantha is sure to send a birthday smile!

She started out by creating the beautiful background panel. She first cut out a long scallop edged fram using our Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set. She then added layers of hills to the lower half of of the panel using our Hills & Grass Stencil with green distress ink. She added blue ink to the top for a sky and  mounted the panel on a white cardstock base.

Next she colored stamped two llamas using our Loveable Llamas Stamp Set. She colored them in neutral colors, adding fun pink cheeks and white dots to their bodies for a fun detail. She also stamped and colored the blankets for their backs and a stack of gifts from the same Loveable Llamas Stamp Set. She cut all these images out using the coordinating Loveable Llamas Die Set. She also added a bundle of balloons, stamped from our Cycling Friends Stamp Set and a birthday hat from our Newton's Cupcake Stamp Set.

Last, she added the sentiment, mixing stamped words from our Loveable Llamas Stamp Set with cut out letters using our Essential Alphabet Die Set. What a fun way to make a customized message!

Llama Birthday Fun Card by Samantha Mann

Llama Birthday Fun Card by Samantha Mann | Loveable Llamas Stamp Set, Cascading Stars Stencil and Essential Alphabet Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs

Llama Birthday Fun!

Today we are celebrating a fun birthday with this adorable card by Samantha!

For this card she featured the adorable llama from our Loveable Llamas Stamp Set. She colored the llama in fun neutral tones with added dots for texture on the fur. She also colored the blanket to add to his back and the potted cacti to add onto her card. These images were all cut out using the coordinating Loveable Llamas Die Set. She also added a bow tie and birthday hat to accessorize the llama, stamped from the Pug Hugs Stamp Set and cut out with the coordinating Pug Hugs Die Set. How adorable is that!?

Then, for her card base, she created a starry background on the top half using our  Cascading Stars Stencil with distress inks.

To create the customized sentiment she stamped the sentiment from the Loveable Llamas Stamp Set, using masking to use the only the words "have a" and "fun on your birthday" by themselves, embossing each on their own black banner.  Then she cut the letters to spell "llama" from the center of her card, using the Essential Alphabet Die Set. She added the black banners with the stamped words onto each side to complete the fun sentiment running across the card! How cool!

A Llama Fun Birthday Card by Samantha Mann

A Llama Fun Birthday Card by Samantha Mann | Loveable Llamas and Fabulous Frenchies Stamp Set and Mountains Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs

Llama Fun Birthday!

Today we are having a "Llama" fun with this adorable birthday card by Samantha! She has created an adorable birthday scene featuring the llama from our Loveable Llamas Stamp Set. She colored the llama  in shades of gray, adding a fun texture with dots to make the fur look fuzzy! She added the blanket onto his back, also from the Loveable Llamas Stamp Set after coloring it in rainbow colors. The lama and blanket were cut out using the coordinating Loveable Llamas Die Set

To make the scene have more of a birthday theme, she added a trio of balloons stamped from our Fabulous Frenchies Stamp Set. She used the coordinating Fabulous Frenchies Die Set to cut the balloons out, but she also fussy cut a couple out by hand to layer and pop up for a bit of dimension!

For the background, she created a wonderful landscape by using our Sunscape Stencil and Mountains Stencil with distress inks to add sun rays and mountains! The whitecaps were added using texture paste for even more fun detail!

The sentiment "Have a llama fun on your birthday," also from the Loveable Llamas Stamp Set, was stamped just below the horizon line.

Here's a close up image so you can see the amazing coloring and the dimension:

Are you as in love with this card as we are? I hope so!

Have a Llama Fun Birthday Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Have a Llama Fun Birthday Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Loveable Llamas, Sunscape Stencil, Land Borders Die Set and Framework Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Have a Llama Fun!

Today Ellen has created an adorable llama birthday card using fun bright colors and flock!

For this lovely card she started out by coloring the images of the llama, potted cactus and gifts from our Loveable Llamas Stamp Set. She colored the images in gorgeous bright colors and added a fun speckled fur texture on the llama! For the sunglasses she stamped them on vellum with black ink and then added sparkles with irridescent embossing powder. She cut all the images out using the coordinating Loveable Llamas Die Set.

For the amazing background she used our Sunscape Stencil with flocking (see tips below) and then added a couple of hills along the bottom that were cut out using our Land Borders Die Set to set the scene.  She also used our Framework Die Set to create the postage edged frame around the whole scene. Adorable!

Tips on Flocking

Below we have some tips from Ellen on how she used flocking sheets on her background:

Have a Llama Fun Birthday Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Sunscape Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

  • First I inked a rectangular piece with Distress Ink in pink colors.
  • Next I added the neon yellow flock on top using the Sunscape Stencil. To hold the stencil in place, you can spray the back of your stencil with an adhesive spray or use removable tape.  I laid the stencil over the background and spread Deco Foil Transfer Gel Blanco on the background. Let the piece dry.
  • When it’s dry you place the neon yellow flock sheet (with the flock side down) on the background and heat set it using a laminator.
  • It looks fun as it it, but it’s even more awesome when you stamp on the flock! I stamped the sentiment from the Loveable Llamas Stamp Set onto the round sun shape in the flocked area!

We hope you enjoyed this fun card today and tips from Ellen! To see more unique creations by Ellen, you can visit her over at her blog Crafty Ellen!

A Llama Birthday Fun Card by Zsofia Molnar | Llama Delivery Stamp Set, Loveable Llamas Stamp Sets, Fancy Edges Tag Die Set, Frames and Flags Die Set and Confetti Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

A Llama Birthday Fun!

Today we are having a llama fun with this card by Zsofia! She created this adorable card by re-purposing the holiday llama from our Llama Delivery Stamp Set to create a birthday card! She colored the image using a gorgeous mint green and blue color palette and cut it out using the coordinating Llama Delivery Die Set. She layered the image onto a kraft colored tag that was cut out using our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set. For the background she created a gorgeous blue to mint colored ombré background with distress inks and layered confetti over it using our Confetti Stencil. The background was also cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set to give it a scalloped edge. For the birthday sentiment, she used our Lovable Llama Stamp Set and stamped it onto a circle cut out using our Frames Squared Die Set.

We hope this gives you some ideas to look at your stamps in new ways. With just a little creative thinking many of your holiday stamps can be used all year long!

Here is a close up photo so you can see the gorgeous sparkle:

No Prob-llama Card by March Guest Designer Jane Clark

Today we have our first post from our March Guest Designer, Jane Clark from Miss Jane's Classroom! We love Jane's fun and creative cards and gorgeous coloring and we are super excited to feature her creations on our blog this month! We can't wait to share what she creates with our stamps.
Keep reading to find out more about her today and to check out her first project below!

Hi I'm Jane, also known as Miss Jane to a lot of my friends, hence why my creative sharing Facebook page, Instagram and Blog are all called 'Miss Jane's Classroom'. I've been making cards since I was six years old. I had the dream job of working for an Australian cardmaking magazine called 'Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft' for 11 years. I was the Editor of the magazine in it's last year of production, unfortunately like many magazines it folded. I had great joy in meeting so many talented cardmakers, it was an immeasurable experience.

I live in a small rural town called Moree NSW Australia. Instead of the kids moving out of home, hubby and I moved out instead, from a busy suburb lifestyle to a peaceful, quiet small town of 10,000. I'm finding it challenging with the lack of shops, people I know, no family or friends close (eight hour driving trip). One thing exciting though, this move gives me the leisure for more time to create! I love all things about cardmaking, I haven't really got a particular style because I love them all and we are always learning I say! I'm very excited and feel so privileged to be a guest designer for Newton's Nook Designs, I just love their designs and have so for many years!

Now who doesn’t like llamas?? Everyone loves them!! I decided to give this llama some spunk and a lot of attitude, especially with those cool blue sunnies and that bright coat!

I stamped one of Newton's Nook Designs Lovable Llamas images on blender card with Memento tuxedo black ink and added the curved blanket/coat to it.

I coloured the llama using my Copics.

The Hill background looks pretty cool too, I created this by drawing curved hills on plain vellum using a white prismacolor pencil, flipped it over and coloured the reverse side using several shades of green Distress Ink pads using a chalk applicator, this technique gives it a lovely soft coloured effect don’t you think? Funky hills for a funky llama!

Lastly, I also put little eyelashes on the llama and created a fluffy body by drawing little half curved circles using a blue marker.

Dog-Tor Who Card by Nakaba Rager

Doctor Who inspired Dog Card by Nakaba Rager | Woof Pack Stamp Set and Essential Alphabet Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

DOGtor Who?!

Today we are sharing a fun Doctor Who inspired card by Naki! If you watch the tv series Doctor Who you will probably remember the episode wore 3D glasses. Naki was inspired by that episode as she created this fun dog card for a family member who also loves the show!

She started our with the large image of dogs from our Woof Pack Stamp Set. She stamped the image in a light color to create a softer edge and used colored pencils to color in all those fun dogs! Then she added on 3D glasses to each dog using the sunglass image and die cut from the Loveable Llamas Stamp Set and Die Set. She turned the sunglasses into 3D glasses by adding blue and red on each one. Then she finished off the card by creating  the word "DOGTOR" across the bottom using our Essential Alphabet Die Set.  This die set is perfect for creating just the right word for your card!

Even if you aren't familiar with the tv show, you'll have to admit this card is super fun! I think these dogs would make a great audience for a 3D movie too!

Thank you for the fun card today, Naki! If you like this project you can see more of Naki's work over on her blog, Notes from Naki. Stop by and say hello!

Winter Friends Card by January Guest Designer Toni Maddox

Hi, everyone!  Toni of Frankie Helps Craft with my second guest design card for January. I think this one is my favorite of the lot.  Love plaid much? Why yes I do!
Winter Friends Card by January Guest Designer Toni Maddox | Sweater Weather Stamp Set and Plaid and SnowFall Stencils by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

I started the card by using the Plaid Stencil with Distress Oxides Candied Apple and Peacock Feathers. I then added snowflakes using the Snowfall stencil and a white pigment ink.  What a fantastic combo.  I love it!  I set that aside to dry fully while I colored up the Sweater Weather Critters using Copics that coordinated with the plaid. Swoon!

I next die cut the aperture and sponged the card base lightly with the Peacock Blue Distress Oxide for the background beneath the critters. I used a white pigment pen to add a few dotty snowflakes. Now when it came time for the sentiment, I originally embossed it in white directly onto the plaid but it was visually lost.  See what I mean?

Embossing it on the blue strip made such a difference. Btw, I sponged the blue strip with the Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide, ombre-style. Love!

Now I didn't stop there.  Recall I had cut the aperture from the plaid layer and was certainly not going to let that go to waste! I used it as a backdrop for one of the Loveable Llamas with a big pile of birthday presents on its back. So cute!

I used the same Copic colors to color up both cards with the addition of BV23 which is my favorite shadow color on the llama card. I added it around the blanket, along the bottom of the llama as well as beneath its chin. What a difference in depth, aye?

Thanks for joining me today! See you next week!

A Llama Fun Birthday Card by Juliana Michaels

A Llama Fun Birthday Card by Juliana Michaels | Loveable Llamas Stamp Set and Serene Stripes Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Have a llama fun!

This celebratory birthday card by Juliana is so cheerful and fun! The duo of llamas on this card was created using our Loveable Llamas Stamp Set. The lamas in this set come with lots of accessory options and Juliana dressed them up in rainbow colored blankets and sunglasses, and then added on some birthday gifts too! She used the coordinating Loveable Llamas Die Set to cut out all the pieces and combine them together.  For the colorful background she die cut out the postage edged panel using our Framework Die Set and then stenciled over it using our Serene Stripes Stencil! Isn't it so cool how she masked areas of the stencil so she could apply different rainbow colors to each horizontal stripe!? I love the colorful results!
