Love You More than Naps! 

Today Tatiana has created a magical card featuring our favorite kitty napping among the stars! She features the image of Newton on a giant pile of blankets from our Newton's Naptime Stamp Set. She colored the image using lots of vibrant colors and added texture with colored and white dots. She also added stripes to the kitties fur! So cute! She fussy cut the image out with a scissors but you could also use the coordinating Newton's Naptime Die Set if you don't like to hand cut. 

She layered this image over a gorgeous starry background, perfect for dreaming! To create the background she used various distress inks, masking off a circle in a lighter color to leave a spot for the kitty image. She added ink and white paint splatters too. For the stars, she used our Cascading Stars Stencil with white texture paste around the edges of the card, leaving a spot in the center for the image. 

What an incredible creation! The recipient of this card is sure to feel loved and special!

Dreamy Kitty Card by Amanda Bodine

Dreamy Kitty! 

This adorable kitty card by Amanda is so dreamy!! She used that cute image of the kitty on a stack of blankets from our Newton's Naptime Stamp Set. She colored the image in lovely bright pastels, giving the kitty an extra cozy stack of blankets to nap on. She used the coordinating Newton's Naptime Die Set to cut out the image. This die set also includes a thought bubble, which she cut out of dark pink and added it to her card to hold the sentiment "may all your dreams come true". For the background, she created a fun pattern using our new Meow Stencil, keeping with the lovely soft pink color theme! So pretty!

More than Naps Card by February Guest Designer Valliam

Hi there! Happy Monday! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I’m back again with my third card for Newton’s Nook. For this card, I used the Newston’s Naptime stamp set. This set is definitely an eye catcher! I’ve fell in love seeing him napping on top of the cozy blankets. He is too cute!

I wanted him to be the focal point of my card. So I decided to use bright colors on the layers of blanket to make it pop. I stamped and colored the image using distress ink and die cut the image using the coordinating Newton’s Naptime die set. Next, I moved on to making the background. I wanted a contrast background for this card. So, I cut a stitched rectangle panel using Frames & Flags die set and inked it with Mowed Lawn and Wild Honey distress inks. Then, for the cloud I used the Stitched Cloud Border die set and inked it up with Salty Ocean distress ink. I stamped the sentiment on the cloud panel and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I tried the inlaid die cutting technique to make a window with a little background scene for this card and it turned out great. I made the window frame using scalloped edge and stitched rectangle dies from Frames & Flags die set. Basically the negative part of this will be the frame. I made four frames and glued all of the layers together for added dimension.

I inlaid the background panel to the center of the frame which I made earlier. Since the frame was made of four layers, it give a little depth to background and then I inserted a piece of acetate sheet on top of the frame layers to give the window a glassy look. Unfortunately, I couldn't capture it on my picture. I finished off the card by adhering Newton on the foreground. That’s all for today. I hope you enjoyed my card today.

Interactive Card by September Guest Designer Ellen Hax

Hello! It's Monday and that means it's time for a post from this month's guest!! YAY! This month it's me, Ellen, and I like to share a little coloring tip and a flip card.

It seems a lot people like how I color the cat stamps, because I get a lot of sweet comments from all of you! That's why I like to share where I got my inspiration for these kittens (stamp sets "Aloha Newton" and "Newton Dreams of London").

As you can see, the coloring is inspired by pictures found on Google. Do you see the similarities? To give the cats fur I use the flicking technique. With this technique you draw a little line upwards from the edges to the inside of the stamp with brush point of your marker. For animals it's important to try to follow the form of the body with your markers. This ensures that the animals will appear more vibrant and fuller.

I created a little summer and rain scene with both cats. The word 'or' on the first page was stamped with the word 'more' from a sentiment from the "Newton's Naptime" stamp set. On the inside I used a sentiment from the "Newton Unwinds" stamp set.

Newton's Nook Designs 2nd Anniversary Blog Hop!

Newton’s Nook Designs is so excited to be celebrating our TWO Year Anniversary - WOW - TWO whole years of getting our paws inky! I remember how excited I was when our first four sets came in the mail two years ago! (see photo below) - Now we have 67 products in our shop, including BRAND NEW DIES!!! It's been an AMAZING two years - filled with happiness, stress, lots of excitement and very little sleep!

We want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all our fans, designers and customers who helped make it happen! We are so happy to be here and we can't wait to see what the next year brings!

To celebrate, we have a blog hop and we've invited some very special guests to our hop along  - Jennifer Ingle, Tessa Wise, Shellye McDaniel, AND the Simon Says Stamp blog! How cool is that? Make sure to scroll down to the end of the post to see the whole list!

For our stop on the hop, I wanted to use our Newton's Naptime and coordinating NEW Purr-fect die set! Since our namesake kitty (the "real" Newton) is orange I colored the kitty orange to look like him. Then I gave him a stack of bright colored blankets too! This image is SO FUN to color! After coloring the blankets, I cut out the image with the fun coordinating die!

For the card base, I took a white piece of cardstock and cut the "thought bubble" out and added a bit of light yellow paper behind it. I stamped the "I love you more than naps" sentiment in the thought bubble. If you follow me on instagram, where I post lots photos of sleepy Newton, you know that Newton does LOVE to nap, so that sentiment is saying a lot! I finished off the card with some fun patterned washi tape and bakers twine (my two favorite card-making essentials!)
