Any Way You Slice It Card by Samantha Mann

Any Way You Slice It Card by Samantha Mann | Newton Loves Pizza, Newton's Thanksgiving, Banner Trio Die Set, Card Layout 4 Die, Black & White Basics Paper Pad by Newton's Nook Designs

You Have a Pizza My Heart Card!
Today we are sharing this fun pizza-themed card by Samantha!

This card features:
Card 4 Layout Die Set
Banner Trio Die Set
Newton's Thanksgiving Stamp Set
Newton's Thanksgiving Die Set
Newton Loves Pizza Stamp Set
Newton Loves Pizza Die Set

I started by stamping the images from Newton Loves Pizza and the Newton's Thanksgiving stamp sets. Then I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color them in! Once they were dry, I used a white gel pen to add some details. Then I used the coordinating dies to die cut out the images.

Any Way You Slice It Card by Samantha Mann | Newton Loves Pizza, Newton's Thanksgiving, Banner Trio Die Set, Card Layout 4 Die, Black & White Basics Paper Pad by Newton's Nook Designs

To create the background, I used white cardstock for the base, and then die cut out a piece of cardstock from the Black & White Basics Paper Pad. I love that paper pad! I used a piece of cardstock that reminded me of a pizza restaurant tablecloth! Then I used the Card 4 Layout Die Set to die cut it out. So fun!

I die cut the largest banner using the
Banner Trio Die Set and heat embossed the fun sentiment in black. Then I finished the card off by adding a sprinkling of red sequins (pepperonis!) around the pizza slices!
It's was so fun to combine these stamp sets!

Birthday BBQ Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Birthday BBQ Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Dad's BBQ Stamp Set, Newton's Thanksgiving Stamp Set, Sunscape Stencil, Land Borders Die Set and Frames Squared Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Birthday BBQ!

Today Ellen is sharing how to celebrate a birthday with fun BBQ! This unique birthday greeting is sure to make the recipient smile!

For this food filled birthday card, Ellen looked through all of her stamps with food themes and chose a fun combination of images. She stamped and colored the grill, burger, hot dog and grilling tool from the Dad’s BBQ Stamp Set, cutting them out with the coordinating Dad’s BBQ Die Set. Then She added in the kitty with the full belly and the turkey leg from our Newton’s Thanksgiving Stamp Set, cutting those images out with their coordinating Newton’s Thanksgiving Die Set as well. She added a chefs hat to the kitty, stamping it from the Newton’s Kitchen Stamp Set and cutting it out with the Newton’s Kitchen Die Set. What a fun pairing of food themed goodies!

For her card base she created a square card and layered a green rounded corner square and red scalloped square onto the card using our Frames Squared Die Set. Inside the smaller square she created her scene, adding hills  and grass using our Land Borders Die Set. She also added fun rays to the sky using the Sunscape Stencil with blue ink.

To make this into a birthday card, she added "Happy Birthday" from the Dad’s BBQ Stamp Set, embossing it in white onto a red banner that was cut out using the little banner from the A7 Frames & Banners Die Set. You can make almost any card into a birthday card just by adding a birthday sentiment!

Cup of Thanks Cat Card by Jennifer Jackson | Coffee House Stories Paper Pad, Newton’s Mug Stamp Set, Frames &. Flags Die Set and Circle Frames Die Set by Newton’s Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Today I have created a Thank You card featuring our BRAND NEW Coffee House Stories Paper Pad. I am having so much fun creating with the patterns from this new paper pad! Today I chose two coffee themed patterns to make a fun background for my card. I trimmed the two papers to fit inside the large scalloped frame from our Frames & Flags Die Set. I added a ribbon to separate the two paper designs.

Then I stamped the cute kitty in a mug from our Newton's Mug Stamp Set with waterproof ink. This stamp set includes several sentiments that fit on the mug front. For this card I chose the sentiment "A Big Cup of Thanks."Then I used watercolor markers and cut out the image, giving him gray fur and stripes so that he looks a little like my own gray kitty! I cut the image out using the coordinating Newton's Mug Die Set. I also layered two circles behind the kitty image, cutting them from white paper and vellum using our Circle Frames Die Set

There's Always Room for Pie Card by April Guest Designer Jennifer Hartsgrove

Hello Krafty Friends! Welcome back to my second post as April’s Guest Designer for Newton’s Nook Designs. You know how much I love these products, especially their line of kitties! This week…lets talk pie! Newton believes there is always room for pie, and I must say, I totally agree!

I ended up making two slimline cards, with the same stamps. I changed up my frame a little for each. I wasn’t sure what I thought of the larger tan frame I made. So I decided to make a smaller one, and keep it white. (For the record my husband prefers the tan background, I prefer the white).

I stamped out images from “Newton’s Thanksgiving” and “Newton’s Kitchen” onto copic friendly cardstock. I didn’t use them all, but stamped out some extras for another project. For the images I used I colored with the following:

  • Newton’s Fur: Y35, Y38, YR15, and YR16. Ears: R2
  • Chef’s Hats: C00 and C0
  • Scarf: BG000, BG01, and BG02
  • Dishes: B21, B23, B24, and B26
  • Spoon Handle: E34 and E37
  • Dough: E51 and E34
  • Batter and Inside of Pie: E50 and E34
  • Pie Crust: E51, E53, and E55

I then used slimline dies to cut a frame for my shaker cards. I centered the three window die inside the stitched outline. Then ran it through my die cut machine.

For the tan frame I colored the whole thing with an E50 copic marker, then stamped it with the pie with Altenew’s inks in Caribbean Sky and Persian Blue. I also colored behind the windows on the backing, so the color would be uniform. For the white frame I used a smaller outside stitched die, and made another frame. Then I stamped the pie with Altenew’s, Arctic.

I created my shaker frames using foam tape around the borders, and in the middle areas, creating three chambers. Then I filled them with sequins, dew drops, and beads from my stash. For the first card, I missed the step of running some powder around the inside edges of the foam tape. But remembered on the second card, the powder helps keep the gems from sticking to the tape. Next, I adhered the back of my shaker card on the foam.

Then I added all my colored images onto the cards, making a story out of them.

I cut a piece of Craft Perfects Arctic Blue Cardstock 8.75″ x 7″ and scored at the 3.5″ mark for both cards. I used Versamark ink and white embossing powder for my inside sentiment. On the inside of the card, you see Newton stuffed with yummy pie!

I really enjoyed working on these cards, shakers are not my speciality, but I want to keep practicing them. I do love all the jewels and gems inside of them!

You can see that bottom card, has a smaller frame than the top. I like this because I like seeing the card base around the frame. Which do you prefer?

I've also created a video showing you how I created this card:

Thanks again to Newton’s Nook Designs for having me this month, I can’t wait to see you all again next week! Until then stay home, stay safe and stay krafty!

Gobble 'til you wobble card by Jennifer Jackson | Newton's Thanksgiving Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

I did want to take time to share a card today as well! To make this lovely Thanksgiving card, I started with the image of the kitty with the full belly from our Newton's Thanksgiving Stamp Set. I colored the image using watercolor markers and cut it out with the coordinating Newton's Thanksgiving Die Set. For the fun background I stamped a bunch of the smaller images of turkey, pumpkins and pie from the Newton's Thanksgiving Stamp Set on watercolor paper and loosely added color to them. I love how with watercolors you don't have to be perfect and it still looks fun! I also added a few splatters of watercolor paint too. I layered the main image of the kitty over this along with the sentiment "gobble 'til you wobble" from the same stamp set. I stamped this on a banner that was cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set. I adhered it all together and added some orange bakers twine to finish it off! Super easy and fun!

I'm sure this is how most of our American fans will feel after their Thanksgiving dinners today!

I hope you enjoyed this card today! If you're here to find out about our sale this weekend, that's up next!

Squeal! You'll Love with These Piggy Cards by Ellen!

Today we have a trio of adorable piggy cards created by Ellen! She used the adorable pig images from our Oink Stamp Set to create three fun pig cards! For the first card (shown above) she used the piggy with the birthday cake. She colored the image and used the coordinating Oink Die Set to cut the image out. Then she layered it over a fun yellow splattered background that was cut out using our
Frames Squared Die Set.

If you like this splattered look on this little background piece, scroll to the end of this post for instructions on how to do this technique!

For the background she used our  for the large scalloped border. She also cut out the stitched rectangle using our Frames & Flags Die Set and stenciled confetti on it using our Confetti Stencil.

Pig Birthday Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Oink Stamp Set, Frames Squared and Frames & Flags Die Sets and Hardwood Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
For the second piggy card, Ellen used the image of the pig with the big bow from our Oink Stamp Set and paired him with a pie slice from our Newton's Thanksgiving Stamp Set. So cute! She cut the images out with the coordinating Oink Die Set and Newton's Thanksgiving Die Set. She used a similar layout as the last card, adding layers using our Frames & Flags Die Set and Frames Squared Die Set. This time she used the Hardwood Stencil for the background panel.

Pig Birthday Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Oink Stamp Set, Frames Squared and Frames & Flags Die Sets and Bubbly Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
The third piggy card using the cute image of the pig from our Oink Stamp Set lying on the ground. This time she paired the pig with the champagne glass from the Newton's New Year Stamp Set  and party hat from the Newton Celebrates Stamp Set. She used the coordinating dies to cut the pieces out and layered them again with shapes from our Frames & Flags Die Set and Frames Squared Die Set. On this card she also used our Bubbly Stencil for the background bubbles and added the "sip happens" sentiment from our Wine a Little Stamp Set.

Here's a little tutorial from Ellen on how to make the Splattered Backgrounds!

Splatter Background by Ellen Haxelmans | Frames Squared Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

  • First apply your ink. It's best to use an ink that reacts with water like Distress ink or Oxide inks. I used Oxide inks. After that I used water. For this I use a mini mister with water. Take out the nozzle and tap with your finger on it. The water drops will fall on your paper. Wait till you see the ink reaction from the water and then dab wet areas away with a towel.
  • You can do the same ‘tapping’ technique with white Dylusions White Linen ink. The only difference is that I heat it with my heat gun to dry.
  • The last step is to apply a glimmer ink. For this I use Glitter Sprays are my favorite. After you sprinkled the ink, you dab the ink off with a towel.
