Wishing Choo-Choo a Merry Christmas Card by September Guest Designer Kavya

Today we have our first post by our July Guest Designer, Kavya, from Handmade by Kavya! We fell in love with Kavyas projects recently on Instagram! Her cards filled with bright colors and creative layouts made us smile and we can't wait to share what she creates using our products this month! Check back each Monday to see them! Hi! I am Kavya. I have always been a creative soul but I found my true passion when I discovered stamping and die cutting back in middle school. After a brief hiatus to concentrate on school and college, I just got back into cardmaking late last year in Senior year of college to relax myself and I am so glad I did! I like to try out many different styles and techniques, but my love for flowers and cute critters knows no bounds. I also enjoy experimenting and coming up with unique and unexpected ways to use products in my stash! I am beyond excited to guest design for Newton’s Nook as I am huge fan of their super adorable critters.

Hello everyone, 

I am excited to be guest designing for Newton's Nook for the month of September! Thank you Samantha for giving me this wonderful opportunity! I have four cards with totally different techniques and styles lined up for you this month! If you have been following me for a while, you would know that I don't have a signature style. I like mixing up things and trying to come up with creative ways to use my stash. I am a huge fan of Newton's Nook products as they are versatile and super cute! 

My first card uses some good old distress ink blending scene for Christmas. Here is how I put this together:

• I distress inked my panel using Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio. I then tried to create a snow texture by adding water and white ink splatters. 

• I cut the winter scene landscape using my silhouette cameo but you can use a similar die of your choice.
• I colored the images from All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set using my alcohol ink markers. I like to add darker tones to my images using color pencils later on. 
• After assembling the card, I heat embossed a sentiment on teal cardstock using white embossing powder. (PS: this actually covers up a snafu! I tried embossing directly on to the background but it didn't stand out as much and wasn't aligned properly.)

• Voila! You are done :)

Wishing Choo-Choo a Merry Christmas!

This card by Samantha is so perfect for a fun Christmas Greeting! She used that cute image of Santa driving the train and the train car filled with gifts and a reindeer from our All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set. She colored the images and trimmed them out using our All Aboard for Christmas Die Set, adding in some smoke clouds too! For her card she created a fun snowy sky using our Starfield Stencil with some embossing paste. She also added in a snowy hill using our Land Borders Die Set. To finish out the card she embossed the sentiment from the All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set  in white on a banner that was cut out using the banner from our Frames & Flags Die Set. So cute!

Holiday Tags by Holly Endress

Deck out your gifts with Holiday Tags!  

Do you want to dress up your gifts this season? Today we are sharing two adorable gift tags by Holly. For the tag on the left, Holly used our Ornament Shaker Tag Die Set to cut out an ornament shape and added the "deck the halls" sentiment inside the ornament using our Ornamental Wishes Stamp Set. Then she added a cute little stocking using our Holiday Stockings Stamp Set. She colored the stocking and cut it out using the coordinating Stylish Stockings Die Set and added it to the ornament! So cute!



For the second tag she cut out a tag using foiled and glitter papers with our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set. Then she added those fun critters from ourAll Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set along the bottom of the tag. She colored them with copics and cut them out using our coordinating All Aboard for Christmas Die Set and then fussy cut the bottom edge to eliminate the white border. For the sentiment she used the "merry" die cut from our Holiday Greetings Die Set and combined it with the word "christmas" from our Nutcracker Squeak Stamp Set. What a fun way to mix and match products to create custom sentiments!

Hi my name is Kay Miller and I am thrilled to be guesting with Newton’s Nook today! I have been stamping and card making for over 20 years now, and still love it as much as the day I first discovered it. I am married with two teenagers, five dogs ( yes five!) and one outnumbered cat. When I am not making cards ( which is most of the time) I enjoy creating ornaments with Polymer clay, taking long walks with the dogs and hanging with my kids.

Here's what Kay created!

Kay created this adorable Holiday train card featuring our All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set! She colored the train image with Santa and two carts and filled them with the reindeer and fox images! The bright colors she used are so gorgeous! I love the pop of bright teal mixed with the traditional red and green! She also added fun little white accents to the images with a gel pen to add a bit of extra detail. Then she put them all together on the card with a beautiful teal sky and snowy hill. She also finished it off the the "wishing choo choo a Merry Christmas" sentiment in a black banner

Samantha created this gorgeous card using our new Holiday Foliage Stencil. She inked it with different colors and then went over it with translucent embossing paste, leaving a space in the center for the "merry everything" sentiment from the new Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set!

This adorable card by Juliana features our new All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set! She used fun bright colors to color Santa pulling the kitty and puppy in their train cars! So cute!

Maria used the Snowfall stencil to create that stunning snowy background! Then she added the "noel" in bright red from the new Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set and finished it off using pinecones and branches from our Pines & Holly Die Set. 

It's so hard to choose which train car you want to use! Ellen made her project extra long so she could fit all four train cars on it! She also added a snowy background using the new Snowfall Stencil!

This lovely card was created by Naki featuring our new Holiday Foliage Stencil. She used white embossing paste to make a textured background and then added some holly and pine boughs from our Pines & Holly Die Set. She finished it off using the "joy" sentiment from the new Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set.

Santa is heading your way to wish "choo choo" a Merry Christmas! Holly created this adorable scene using the new All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set. There's a sneaky peek in there too - those houses will be revealed as part of another new set tomorrow! 

This gorgeous snowy card was created by Tatiana. She used tones of blue ink to create a background with the new Snowfall Stencil. She added on the sentiment from the new Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set, embossed in white on strips of blue! 

 Jennifer created this sweet card using our new All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set! Santa and his train are so cute in the traditional red and green Christmas colors!

Amanda created this stunning holiday card! She used our new Holiday Foliage Stencil in the background and paired it up with pinecones and branches from our Pines & Holly Die Set. Then she used the "happy holidays" sentiment from the new Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set.

Larissa created the lovely snowy background on her card using the new Snowfall Stencil and embossing paste. She added on the "Merry & Bright" sentiment from the new Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set.
