Fireside Friends Card by November Guest Designer Kelly Latevola

Hello Crafters! 

I can't believe it's been a whole month already!

I'm so grateful to  Newton's Nook for asking me to guest this month. I had such a good time using this stamps you guys!

Of Course, I couldn't let the month go without coming back to a little scene card.
I mean, It's what I really love :) 

Whether you're into full blown scenes or maybe just doing a mini one like I did here this Fireside Friends stamp basically makes the card for you. I love large images like this that you don't really need to do anything to. Because even though I love scenes sometimes I just want to stamp and color! 

The card today is a combination of distress inks and Copics just like most cards I make. However, this one is applied in a way to make the fire look like it's glowing! 

I love the look of it!

Often times I think people look at other crafter's card and see only the finished product leaving them feeling like their cards aren't good enough. In this card I stamped the image crooked and had to fix it! 

No really, it was obviously crooked haha!

The title may throw you off a bit unless you're a follower on Youtube,then it'll make perfect sense! 

Even though we had a few struggles getting the card straight I still really love the way it came out! I also like that I didn't have to start over lol. 

When you have a "mistake" on a card look for a way to make it a happy accident!

Cozy Fireplace Card Tutorial by Ellen Haxelmans

Today Ellen is sharing a instructions on how to make a scene with a floor and wallpaper on your card! She created this amazing card featuring our Fireside Friends Stamp Set. Scroll down for details on how you can create a scene like this!


Instructions:

1. First you stamp out your images for your scene. I used Fireside Friends and a mice from Santa Paws Newton. The sentiment is from Sentiments of the Season.

2. Than you draw a horizontal line which best represents the dividing line between the floor and the wall. After this you put a pencil point somewhere in the center. This point will be your viewpoint. Measure on the bottom points that are evenly spaced. Connect these points to your central point.

3. To make your perspective better you draw now horizontal lines. Be sure you space the lines more closer to each other, than below.

4. Color your tiles. First I colored the darker tiles with Copic Markers C07, C05 and C04

5. Then color the lighter tiles. The Copic markers I used for these are C03, C02, C0.

6. The last thing to do is to create your wallpaper. I simply covered the images and tiles with post it notes and distress inked my background. After the base was finished I did the same thing but with the Waves Stencil.

 First up we have this cozy fireside card by Tatiana:

Tatiana used the Chibitronics Starter Kit along with the Fireside Friends Stamp Set. Don't you just want to cuddle right up with those cuties? She added some extra interest to her card by stamping the paw prints on the red cardstock for a tone on tone look! So pretty! And I love how she used the vellum behind the fire, too! When the fire lights up, it's just too adorable! The sentiment is also from the Fireside Friends Stamp Set!

It really looks like the animals are lit and warm by the fire! Amazing coloring!

Our second project today is an adorable Fall card by Amanda:

This card by Amanda is such a hoot! She used the Chibitronics Starter Kit to create a light up card for Halloween! She created a awesome spooky background with distress inks to set the scene. She stamped and colored that cute owl from our from our What a Hoot Stamp Set, trimmed him out with the coordinating What a Hoot Die Set and added him onto her card with three pretty pumpkins! The pumpkins were stamped using our Pick-a-Pumpkin Stamp Set and cut out with the coordinating Pick-a-Pumpkin Die Set! Can you guess what lights up on this card? It's the owl's EYES! Keep Warm Card by Larissa Heskett

Keep Warm and Snuggle Up!

Is it cold where you live today? January at NND headquarters in Wisconsin is definitely chilly so this card by Larissa is perfect for a cold winter day! She created this beautiful card using the image of the girl and cats snuggled up and reading from the Cozy Day In stamp set. The vibrant colors she used are so pretty and make the image really pop off the page! She also added some fun white accents to dress it up too! The sentiment "keep warm and snuggle up" is from the Fireside Friends stamp set. 

I hope this card made you feel warm and cozy on this cold January day!

Several of our Design Team Members decided to play along - check out all the awesome cards they created, inspired by this fun, festive color palette ! Read the description below each card to see who made it.

This sweet winter card by Yukari features our bunny, Lily, dressed in a Christmas colored sweater from the Sweater Weather Stamp set! She used the color combo on the sweater, leaving the bunny white and added a bunch of fun mittens in the background too! The "Season of Joy" sentiment is from the Beautiful Baubles stamp set. 

Samantha used the fun color combo on this card featuring Winston driving his car full of gifts from the Winston's Home for Christmas stamp set. She used the red and green on the car, gift and trees and added the teal as a watercolor background on white paper! 

Kimberly created this adorable card by embossing the trees from our Festive Forest stamp set in white over red cardstock! She added in the "Thank you" from our Vegetable Garden stamp set and a just a little pop of teal!

This sweet fireplace scene by Larissa uses red and green on the rug and fireplace swag while keeping a white card base. Then she added some teal in the background to help this lovely scene op off the card! This sweet image is from our Fireside Friends stamp set.  

Jess created a flurry of snowflakes from our Beautiful Blizzard stamp set using the chosen color combo! I love how pretty this looks! She added an extra pop of teal up the sides too! 

This gorgeous wreath shaker card by Naki uses the color combo in the form of sequins inside the shaker! She also used the red and green on the wreath which was made with our Pines & Holly Die Set, and added an extra pop of teal with a teal tag using our new Joyful Tags stamp set! Such a fun card! 

This cute forest scene by Danielle features our cute kitty in a sweater from the Sweater Weather Stamp set! She used the green, red, and teal on the sweater, leaving the kitty white! So cute! 

This card by Stephanie features our adorable doxie from the Holiday Hounds stamp set twisted up in some holiday lights! She kept her color palette focused on the red green and white with just little teal accents!

Here is another lovely snowflake card using the color combo with  Beautiful Blizzard stamp set. Crafty Math-Chick created this one, using white for the base and added the snowflakes in the other colors of the challenge! I love the simplicity of this with the added sequins for a bit of bling! 

Here's one created by me! I used Winston dressed in his sweater from the new Sweater Weather stamp set and colored his sweater using the color combo! The colors really pop off the white card base!

The trio of cute critters on this card by Yukari look so warm and cozy in their sweaters! She even added a bit of fluffy to the hats on the bear on fox! So sweet!

This fireplace card by Larissa is so beautiful. The coloring on the image is so vibrant! It really pops off the white card base perfectly! 

This sweet fox looks so cute all dressed up for cool weather! Stephanie used such a fun mix of pattern papers on this card too! The whole card looks like a cozy printed sweater! 

Naki embossed the image of the fireplace and friends in white and colored over it! This effect is so soft and pretty and the way she colored the kitty with orange and black spots is so adorable! 

The geometric patterns and cool colors give this card by Kimberly such a frosty winter feel! Good thing that Lily, our bunny, is dressed warmly in her sweater! What a lovely winter card!

Lydia created a clean and simple card, letting the image be the star of the card. Her coloring on those snuggly friends by the fireplace is so gorgeous and the way she stamped it off the edge of the card gives it a nice balance! 

Samantha created such a soft, subtle background using the kitty and snowflake stamp over and over in a light grey. It really makes the colored image of the kitty pop off the card! The soft pink red and grey colors on the sweater are so lovely too!

Danielle used beautiful vibrant colors on the fireplace image for this cozy card! Then she added some fun plaid and a embossed panel that looks like shimmery metal! 

This duo of sweater clad critters was created by Jess. She paper pierced the sweaters to match the paper she used for the card borders! How fun is that? These cards are so sweet and simple and would be great for making a whole set of coordinating cards as a gift!

This cozy fireside scene by Crafty Math-Chick is so pretty on the Kraft card stock. She even added a bit of sparkle to the fireplace  and the pinecone with some glitter. The added pinecones and pine branches are from the Pines & Holly Die Set.
