Beary Merry Christmas Card by Samantha Mann

Bear Christmas Card by Samantha Mann | Winston's Home for Christmas Stamp Set and Ornaments Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Beary Merry Christmas!

It's never too early to start working on those holiday cards! Today we have some fun holiday inspiration by Samantha featuring the adorable Winston's Home for Christmas Stamp Set. This design is part of our Retiring Products Sale right now, so if you like this adorable image, make sure to pop over to our shop and get it before it's gone for good!

For her beary sweet holiday card, Samantha colored the image of our bear, Winston, driving a car laden with holiday goodies. She then fussy cut the image out by hand to layer it onto her card. For her card base, she created a gorgeous snowy scene. To create the snowy sky, she masked off part of the card at a diagonal and then added distress inks to the top along with white acrylic ink splatters. She also added to the festive feeling by adding ornaments to the sky using our Ornaments Stencil (also retiring) with white embossing paste. So beautiful!

Special Delivery Card by April Guest Designer Kaja Vezensek

Hello there!
It's Kaja from Kajcyika crafts! I am back with a new card as a April guest designer here at Newton's Nook blog. Can't believe that this is last Monday in April! I had so much fun and I hope to be back on this blog sometime in the future. :)

Today we will talk about how to use your Christmas stamps in a non-christmas way. I will show you how to do so with a Newton's Nook Designs set called Winston's home for Christmas. :)

First, take a look of what I have created:

Special Delivery Card by April Guest Designer Kaja Vezensek | Winston's Home for Christmas Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

I have also prepared a video tutorial for you. Make sure you check it out! :)

The most important thing while doing a technique like this is to know what do you want your image to look like in the end. I knew that I want the Christmas tree and the wreath to be gone, so I used my post it notes to mask it off.
I couldn't make the masks to fit perfectly, since the tree is also inside our car, so I just stamped the masked images on my watercolor paper and filled up the missing lines with my black alcohol marker.

I colored everything up with my ZIG markers and I used the colors that are not Christmas related at all, cause I didn't want this car to remind us of holidays. I think that this could be a perfect birthday card for a boy, since we have a cute car and the gifts on it.

Since I really wanted to focus on a technique of masking of a holiday stamp and making it non-holiday I decided to leave the rest of the card simple. I drew some stitched lines at the background and stamped the sentiment 'Special delivery' from Newton's happy mail set.

In the end I just glued down our card with the double sided rectangles and our birthday card was all finished!

I just want to say that I am really grateful for being a guest designer here at Newton's nook this month and I hope that you enjoyed my cards! :)

Hugs,

      Winston brings Holiday Gifts!

For our Advent post today I created this fun card using Winston's Home for Christmas! This is one of my favorite stamps to color! I love this image of Winston driving along with his car loaded up with holiday gifts and the tree sticking out the window! I stamped the image onto watercolor paper and colored it with zig clean color markers. I used more muted christmas colors and added some distress ink to the card to add a sepia look.

Let it snow Christmas Bear Card by Jennifer Jackson | Winston's Home for Christmas Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Then I added snow all over the top of the image using the snow splatter stamp from our newest stamp set, Whispering Pines! I stamped it with Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder. I also added the "let it snow" sentiment from the Whispering Pines stamp set, stamping it onto a piece of vellum and adding it in the corner.

To create the card, I added the image onto the card base with some muted snowflake paper. I also sponged distress ink on the paper edges to distress it more and help it match the image. the finishing touch was some brown and white bakers twine. I love how this turned out!!
