Ho Ho Ho!

Samantha is shaking up some fun this holiday with an shaker card featuring our Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set and Snow Globe Shaker Die Set

To create this fun shaker card Samantha stamped and colored the cute little village of houses, reindeer and trees from our Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set, coloring them in soft watercolors. She cut the images out using the coordinating Snow Globes Scenes Die Set. to create the shaker window she cut out the snow globe and base using our Snow Globe Shaker Die Set. She also created a blue winter sky for the background of her scene using distress inks and added the Santa and reindeer image (also from the Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set). Inside the shaker window she added cute tiny pom poms to represent snow. So cute!

She created a white snow filled background for her card using  our Snowfall Stencil with white texture paste. She layered the finished snow globe over the top. Then she cut out the word holiday from our Holiday Cheer Die Set three times, cutting the extra letters off to create "Ho Ho Ho"! What a fun way to stretch this die set!

To create this duo of shakers she used both our Ornament Shaker Die Set and Snow Globe Shaker Die Set. She cut the shapes out in fun bright pastels and made them into shakers filled with glittery sparkle. She added the words joy and wish to the fronts of the shakers along with some snowflake shapes, all die cut using the extra shapes from the Snow Globe Shaker Die Set. Let it Snow Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

Let it Snow Card by Tatiana Trafimovich | Newton's Curious Christmas Stamp Set, Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set, Petite Snow Stencil and Land Borders Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Let it Snow!

It's never too early to get a jump start on Holiday! Today we are sharing an adorable winter scene by Tatiana featuring our  Newton's Curious Christmas Stamp Set

Tatiana began by coloring the adorable winter image of the kitty and snowman from the Newton's Curious Christmas Stamp Set in lovely soft colors. She added details with a white gel pen and then fussy cut the image out by hand. If you don't like to fussy cut there is a coordinating Newton's Curious Christmas Die Set available.

To create this lovely snowy scene card, Tatiana ink blended the background panel using pinks and purples. Next she added snowflakes using our Petite Snow Stencil with a white texture paste along the top of the panel. She also added some crystal glitter drops to add sparkle and dimension to the snowy sky.

She used our Land Borders Die Set to cut out white hills for the snowy scene. Then she added tiny trees using the images from our Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set, trimming them out using the coordinating Snow Globe Scenes Die Set.  The "let it snow" sentiment is also from the Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set.

Evergreens Christmas Card Trio by November Guest Designer Sybil Brewer

Guest Designer, Sybil Brewer for Newton's Nook Designs

Hello there everyone! It’s been a real pleasure and delight to be a guest designer this month, so that means today I will be sharing my final projects for the blog.

Evergreen Trees Holiday Cards by Guest Designer Sybil Brewer | Evergreens Stencil, Holiday Home Stamp Set and Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Christmas cards are great to make multiples of and give as gifts, with envelopes and stamps included. Today I’m sharing 3 easy to make cards, using the same products on each one but changing the color combinations.  I start with the beautiful Evergreens Stencil. I ensure it won’t shift while I work by taping it onto my paper with washi.  I chose 4 or 5 different inks within the same color family, and beginning with the first tree, I apply the darkest ink, continuing my way down to the lightest color on the last tree. I didn’t mind if there was any overlapping of colors, as it just added to the beauty of the trees.

When the inking was finished, I added glitter glue to the center tree, and once that was dry I removed my stencil, and washed and dried it well. I repeated this whole process 2 more times with my other color combos.

Next I cut 3 vellum strips and white embossed my sentiments and snowflakes onto each one. I taped the vellum onto the back of my card panel, then adhered the panel to a coordinating card mat and then onto my card base. I finished off each card by adding some pretty sequins, and now they are ready to give individually or as a gift set. The sentiments I used on my cards are from the Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set & Holiday Home Stamp Set. They were perfect for these holiday cards.

Snow Globe Scenes Card & Shaker Ornament by November Guest Designer Sybil Brewer

Hello again, Sybil here sharing a card & shaker ornament set that was such fun to make! I copic colored the images from the Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set and used the coordinating Snow Globe Scenes Die Set as well.

Snow Globe Scenes Card & Shaker Ornament by November Guest Designer Sybil Brewer | Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set and Snow Globe Shaker Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

For the card I used an oval stencil and blended oxide inks for the night sky and the snowy, bottom portion of the oval. I then embossed the snowflakes, added stars with a white gel pen and stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment. After adding the stamped images and a few gems to the snowflakes, the card was finished once the scene was adhered to a blue card base.

Snow Globe Scenes Card by November Guest Designer Sybil Brewer | Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

For the shaker ornament I used the same Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set and color combos as I did for the card. Using the Snow Globe Shaker Die Set, I cut the outline of the globe several times, gluing each layer together until I had the desired thickness for the shaker bits to move about freely, then I attached it to a layer of acetate to create the window.  I prefer this method rather than die cutting foam which can easily get misshapen in the process. After adding a wintry sequin mix, I used a strong glue to attach the scene portion of the globe. I cut out the base twice and put foam in the center of the two pieces so when attached to the globe it would have the same dimension. I attached sequin trim to the back of the globe so it can be hung as a tree ornament or attached to a package.

Here Comes Santa Claus Card by Andrea Shell | Dear Santa and Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Sets and various Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Here Comes Santa Claus!

Get ready for Santa's visit with this amazing card by Andrea! She created a fun scene for Santa delivering a pile of gifts using our Dear Santa Stamp Set. She colored the image of Santa with gifts piled high and cut it out with the coordinating Dear Santa Die Set to add to her scene. To create the scene she added a little row of houses in the background and some trees using our Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set. Behind the houses she inked up a blue sky and below them she added snowbanks by cutting hills from white with our Land Borders Die Set. Above the houses she added the sentiment "Here comes Santa Claus" from our Dear Santa Stamp Set onto a bubble that was cut out using our Speech Bubbles Die Set

The whole scene was cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set to give it a fun scalloped edge. She also added the word "believe" along the bottom, cut out using the bonus words from our Main Street Christmas Die Set. What a wonderful scene for Santa!

Holiday Wishes for a Deer Friend Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Holiday Wishes for a Deer Friend Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Festive Fawns Stamp Set, Snow Globe Scene Stamp Set, Starfield Stencil and Sea and Land Border Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Deer Friends Card!

Today Ellen has combined several fun products to create an adorable winter scene! This scene features the image of the deer peeking around the snowman from our new Festive Fawns Stamp Set. She colored this sweet image and cut it out using the coordinating Festive Fawns Die Set. To make a fun scene she paired it with the little row of houses from our Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set in the background. She added to the winter theme with layers of snowy hills cut out using our Land Borders Die Set and Sea Borders Die Set. The sparkly sky was created using sparkly embossing paste with our Starfield Stencil. Then she framed the whole thing using  he postage edge from our Framework Die Set.

Ellen is a genius at creating scenes! Do you like to create scenes but don't know where to start? See her tips below on how she created this one!

Tips on creating this scene!

Below we have some tips from Ellen on how she created a fun winter scene!

Holiday Wishes for a Deer Friend Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Festive Fawns Stamp Set, Snow Globe Scene Stamp Set, Starfield Stencil and Sea and Land Border Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  1. Color your images as you like. I used images from the Festive Fawns Stamp Set and Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set. Here I used Zig Markers, these are watercolor markers. They help you to have more control over your watercoloring. The images were cut out using their coordinating die sets.
  2. Then you can make your background. First I watercolored my background with Holbein Watercolors. Secondly I also added Glitz Glitter Gell in white by using the Starfield Stencil.
  3. When everything is dry you can put your card together. I used the biggest frame from the Framework Die Set and added snow hills by cutting borders with the Land Borders Die Set and Sea Borders Die Set.
There are so many fun ways to combine our products for creative scenes! We love hearing the process on how Ellen created this!

May your Holidays Sparkle!

Today we are sharing this fun Holiday camping scene by Tatiana! We designed that cute little camper from our Cozy Campers Stamp Set with summer in mind but we love the idea to use it for a winter camping scene too! Tatiana used that cute camper and colored it fun bright colors with copic markers. Then she cut it out using our Cozy Campers Die Set and added some snow along the top to make it feel right for a winter card! She added it to the scene along with the little deer and trees from our Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set. She also cut out the trees and deer using the coordinating  Snow Globe Scenes Die Set and added bits of snow to their tops!

For the snowy scene in the background, she used white embossing paste with our Bubbly Stencil over blue cardstock to make a fun snowy background. Then she cut the snow globe shape out of white using our Snow Globe Shaker Die Set to set it into just one fun area of the card.

Interactive Halloween Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Today we have another fun interactive project to share by Ellen! Each month she is sharing an interactive project to inspire you!

Today is she's sharing a Halloween Slider card where the ghost moves across the scene card when you pull out the slider tab!
Interactive Halloween Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Boo Hoo, Fox Hollow and Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Sets and Land Borders Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Here are step-by-step instructions from Ellen on how to make a card like this:

Interactive Halloween Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Boo Hoo, Fox Hollow and Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Sets and Land Borders Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  1.  Color all images of your choice. For this card I used Copic Markers and colored images from several sets. The ghost is from the Boo Hoo Stamp Set, the trees are from the Fox Hollow Stamp Set, the leaves and acorn are from the Autumn Newton Stamp Set and the row of houses is from the Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set. All of them were cut out using the coordinating die sets. To make the ghost a little bit more cute I did glue a few “eye” enamel dots on his face.
  2. (Photo on Right) cut out all the scene objects. You need a sky, a hill and a grass shape using the Land Borders Die Set. These shapes where colored then with distress ink. I also added the Happy Halloween sentiment on the top using the Halloween Trio Stamp Set. On the hill you cut out a small rectangular shape. Next to that you need a little bigger rectangular shape as slider tag. I used one of the toppers from the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set, so I could put twine through the slider tag.

Interactive Halloween Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Boo Hoo, Fox Hollow and Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Sets and Land Borders Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  3. (Photo on Left) Cover the backside with pop dots and self adhesive foam. Make sure the slider tag fits in the spot with the opening. Close only one side on the left or right, so you have a stop point when you push in the tag.
  4. (Photo on Right) Put the scene together. Afterward you need to place the tag in the correct furthest in position. Put foam adhesive on the opening on top of the tag and place your ghost on top of the foam. I mounted the whole scene on a scallop edge black panel that was cut out using the Framework Die Set. Then I mounted it all to the card base with some spooky word patterned paper!
Here is how the finished card looks before you pull the slider:
The ghost is hiding behind the trees!

When the slider is pulled the ghost moves to be revealed between the trees:

Congrats on Your New Home Interactive Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Newton Loves Boxes and Snowglobe Scenes Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Ellen created a cute little scene featuring the kitties sharing a box from the new Newton Loves Boxes Stamp Set. She colored the kitties orange and black with copic markers and then die cut them out using the coordinating Newton Loves Boxes Die Set. She built a scene for them using the Land Borders Die Set to create grass and hill layers that she colored using brown and green distress inks. then she added a row of houses in the background using the little houses from the Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set. She even added a few clouds to the yellow sky using embossing paste with our Cloudy Sky Stencil! What a gorgeous scene!
