You Light Up My Life Card by Ellen Haxelmans

You light up my Life Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Holiday Lights Stamp Set, Heart Frames Die Set, Lights Strings Stencil Set, Bright Sentiments Hot Foil Plates and Banner Duo Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Light up some Love!

Today Ellen shares how to stretch your supplies and create a love themed card using holiday stamps and stencils!

For her card base she a beautiful colored background panel using distress inks in shades of pink and red.  Then she used Light Strings Stencil Set to add a fun lightbulb pattern. This stencil includes two layers and she inked the layer that has just the strings and lightbulb bases with a dark red distress ink. Then she used the second layer of the stencil (that has the lightbulb tops) and added foil using transfer gel to give the bulbs a bit of fun shimmer! She cut the panel down to fit inside the scallop edged frame from our Frames & Flags Die Set

For her main image she used the lightbulb from our Holiday Lights Stamp Set. To create a love theme with the lightbulb she added a heart to the center with a yellow glow around it. The bulb was cut out with the coordinating Holiday Lights Die Set. She then layered the bulb over a vellum heart that was cut out using our Heart Frames Die Set

To add to the Love theme, she used the sentiment "you light up my life" from the Bright Sentiments Hot Foil Plate. She used a hot foil machine to foil the sentiment in gold onto red cardstock and then cut it out using the Banner Duo Die Set

Isn't this a fun way to stretch those holiday stamps and stencils to create a fun love themed project? We hope this has inspired you to take a look at your holiday sets and see if they can be stretched to use for different occassions!

Light Up the Holidays Card by Samantha Mann

Light Up the Holidays Card by Samantha Mann | Holiday Lights Stamp Set and Pines & Holly Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Light Up the Holidays!

Today we are sharing a gorgeous holiday card created by Samantha!

To create this lovely card she stamped a bunch of Christmas light bulbs using our Holiday Lights Stamp Set. She colored them in soft neutral tones, with just a hint of yellow to give them a glowing look. She also added glitter on top to give them some fun sparkle. The bulbs were all cut out using the coordinating
Holiday Lights Die Set.

Next, she die cut a lots of branches using our Pines & Holly Die Set from a paper that had been inked up in shades of green to give them a fun dimension. For her card base she inked up the top and side with more green, fading to white on the right side. Then she layered all those fun branches over the top, adding splatters of green and white.  She then added the lights, tucking some of them behind the branches. It's almost as if you are looking through the branches of your Christmas tree!
