Newton's Nook Designs and WOW embossing powders are collaborating all week long to offer you inspiration using their products together! Both design teams will be sharing fun ways to use embossing powders on your projects using WOW embossing powders paired with Newton's Nook Designs stamps!

Today we are featuring projects by Larissa and Ellen

First up we are sharing an adorable Halloween card by Larissa

Newton's Nook Designs & WOW Embossing Powders Inspiration Week - Halloween card by Larissa Heskett | Witchy Newton Stamp Set, Gingham Stencil and Bokeh Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs with embossing powder by WOW! #newtonsnook #wowembossing
For this awesome witch card, Larissa used our  cute kitty from the Witchy Newton Stamp Set. She embossed the image and sentiment using Clear Gloss embossing powder from WOW! Then she colored the image in gorgeous a fun orange and purple color palette fro Halloween and cut the images our using the coordinating Witchy Newton Die Set. To create the amazing background she layered several of our Stencils. She started with the Gingham Stencil, using it first with orange and then again with purple to create the fun plaid look. Then she used our Bokeh Stencil Set, using just the #2 stencil from the two piece set. She inked over the stencil using Versamark ink and then embossed the dots using the Witching Hour (black magic color blend) embossing powder from WOW! on the dots! What a fun idea for layering stencils. The sparkle adds the perfect touch for Halloween!

Next, Larissa created an amazing Holiday card! She started with a background of printed music paper and then used our Holiday Foliage Stencil to add all the fun leaves, holly and branches to the background. She used selective masking to apply embossing ink to just small sections of the stencil so she could emboss them in different colors. She used Green GlitzRed GlitzMetallic Copper SparkleLime Ricky, and Calypso glitter embossing powders from WOW! to add all the fun color and sparkle. She also inked a bit around the images with distress ink to help the colors pop! She added the sentiment from our Christmas Haul Stamp Set and used Clear Gloss embossing powder for WOW! to give it some shine. The scallop edged border was die cut using our Frames & Flags Die Set.

We are sad to say this will be our last post featuring Juliana as a member of our Design Team at Newton's Nook Designs! We are so grateful to have had Juliana on our team two amazing years! We've truly loved all her beautiful cards! She has such an eye for color and has inspired us each month with so many creative ways to use our products! Her creations always bring a smile to our faces! Plus, she is such a sweetheart and we've enjoyed getting to know her too. I thought it would be fun to re-share a few favorite cards by Juliana so I asked her to choose her favorite cards from her time on the NND Design Team! She has created so many awesome projects it was hard for her to choose but here are her picks below!

Halloween Card by Juliana Michaels | Newton's Costume Party Stamp Set and Cloudy Sky Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
I'm a huge Halloween fan and the adorable Newton's Costume Party is one of my favorites! I just loved dressing up each cat with a different costume. I created the background using the Sky Borders Die Set too!

The mice from Naughty or Mice quickly became one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets from last year!
Christmas Llama Card by Juliana Michaels | Llama Delivery Stamp Set, Snowfall Stencil, Pines & Holly Die Set and Frames & Flags Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Being a big lover of all things Christmas, I just adore the cute llama in the Llama Delivery set. Here I combined it with the Snowfall Stencil to create a festive holiday scene. I also tucked in some holly with the Pines & Holly Die Set and used the Frames & Flags Die Set too.

Happy Howl-idays Copic Coloring Tutorial Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Happy Howl-idays Copic Coloring Tutorial Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Happy Howl-idays Stamp Set and various die sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Copic Coloring Dogs with Ellen

Today we have two fun coloring tutorial to share by Ellen! She's showing you step by step how she colored the two dogs from our new Happy Howl-idays Stamp Set.
Step by Step Dog Coloring Tutorial:
Happy Howl-idays Copic Coloring Tutorial Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Happy Howl-idays Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  • Picture 1 (left): I started the coloring all the clothing in red. I choose one color for all these items because it’s nicer to have matching accessories on the dogs. All the illustrations are colored from dark to lighter colors. For the reds I used the markers: R59, R39, R27 and R24.
  • Picture 2 (center): C3, C2, C0 and 0 was used for the white in the Christmas hat and the yellow markers YR16, Y17 and YR31 where used for the bells.
  • Picture 3 (right): I stared coloring the dog on the left side. Just like before, I color him darker colors first and layer lighter on top with E37, E35, E33 and E31.
Happy Howl-idays Copic Coloring Tutorial Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Happy Howl-idays Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  • Picture 4 (left): We’re taking it a step further and starting to give the dog texture. Staring from the shadows and spreading out I draw dots with the same colors as previous step (E37, E35, E33 and E31). The flicking technique gives him fluffy hair. To have this effect you start from the neck and draw quickly a little line to the middle of his belly. It helps me to put the stamped image upside down when I do this. I started this time with marker E51.
  • Picture 5 (center): I draw more of the E51 marker and likewise draw flicks with the E31 and YR23 marker colors. I put darker colors on top, so it doesn’t blend so much.
  • Picture 6 (left): For the last flicks I use the E23 and E37 markers.
Happy Howl-idays Copic Coloring Tutorial Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Happy Howl-idays Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  • Picture 7 (left): The dog on the right side was colored the same way, but with other colors: E79, E77, E47 and E71
  • Picture 8 (center): The first flicks where made with the same colors from the dog for the ears and the tail (E79 and E77) and the chest I used E37 and E35.
  • Picture 9 (right): The last step was adding dots with all the darker brown colors from the right dog and the ending flicks with E71 for the ears and E33 and E53 for the chest.
Once the dogs were all colored, Ellen created an awesome winter scene for them.
Here is a close-up of the finished card:

Happy Howl-idays Copic Coloring Tutorial Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Happy Howl-idays Stamp Set and various die sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
She used the coordinating Happy Howl-idays Die Set to cut out the dogs before adding them to her card. This die set has the added bonus of cutting out the space between the dogs so you can see the scene behind them. To create her scene, Ellen used our Petite Snow Stencil with white embossing paste over a fun blue distress inked sky. She added snow drifts using our Land Borders Die Set and Sea Borders Die Set to create layers of white. She added those lovely silhouetted trees on each side of the dogs using the pines from our Forest Scene Builder Die Set. To finish out the card she added a banner with the Happy howl-idays sentiment, die cut using our Frames & Flags Die Set
