Mystery at the Dog Park Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Mystery at the Dog Park Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Bookmark II Die Set, Forest and Sky Scene Builder Die Sets, Dog Silhouettes Die Set, Speech Bubbles Die Set and Basic Frames Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Create a Scene with Die Cuts!

Have you ever created a scene using die cuts? Today we are sharing a card by Ellen has created using several of our favorite die sets to inspire you!

Ellen started by die cutting the stitched rectangle using our Basic Frames Die Set. This will be the panel for her scene. She inks up the panel in blue distress inks and adds a bit of splatter to make it into a night sky. Next, she cuts a piece for the ground using our Land Borders Die Set, inking it up with shades of brown and adding lots of splatter for texture.

Once she has her setting in place, she adds a stack of books to the center of the scene using the book images that come with our Bookmark II Die Set. She uses our Forest Scene Builder Die Set to add the trees, leaves and the little bird that is perched on the books. The stars in the sky were die cut using our Sky Scene Builder Die Set. Then she adds a dog using our Dog Silhouettes Die Set and a speech bubble using our Dog Silhouettes Die Set. Inside the speech bubble she embossed a message from our Puppy's Reading List Stamp Set. This sentiment works perfectly with the theme of the card! So fun! To finish the scene she frames it with a yellow zig zag edged frame, die cut using our Frames & Tags Die Set

Today we are sharing an adorable kitty scrapbook page by Samantha!

This beautiful card features Samanthas adorable kitties and several of our cat themed products!

Samantha created a fun circle of cat themed patterns using our Meow Stencil with texture paste. Then she added various colors of paint over the top. She also added stamped pawprints, kitty faces and the sentiment "because cats" using our  Cat-itude Stamp Set with black ink. To add a fun pop of pattern, she used our Sky Scene Builder Die Set to cut out stars from patteren pieces taken from our Birthday Meows Paper Pad.  She also tore away a section of her paper on the left side and tucked a patterened paper behind it, also from our Birthday Meows Paper Pad. So fun!

Here are some tips from Ellen on how to create this adorable card:
Bright Birthday Mouse Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Birthday Mice Stamp Set, Newton's Candy Cane Stamp Set, Bright Sentiments Hot Foil Plates, Banner Duo Die Set and Scene building Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

  • (Left photo above): First I die cut the largest frame of the Frames & Flags Die Set and used the Clouds Stencil to create a pretty background. I start inking the panel at the bottom (tip: start blending of the edge of the stencil for the best results and a smoother blend). Once you have inked the first cloud, move the stencil up and start inking again and keep repeating this until you have filled the panel.

  • (center photo above): Here you can see I die cut the largest frame again and then cut it again using the Land Borders Die Set. Next I inked it so it looks like sand. Later I die cut 3 clouds with the Sky Scene Builder Die Set. I also foiled the sentiment with the new Bright Sentiments Hot Foil Plates!
Turn on your hot foil machine and let it warm up. Lay your hot foil plate on the machine and trim your foil a little bigger than your hot foil plate. When the green button of the machine turns on, place the foil pretty side down on top of the plate. Than you place your cardstock on top. As the last step you place the shim and acrylic plate on top of the cardstock. After pressing the timer button, the light slowly will stop blinking, now you can roll the sandwich through a die cutting machine.

  •  (right photo above): Here I colored the images. I used the Birthday Mice Stamp Set and Birthday Mice Die Set & Newton's Candy Cane Stamp Set for the candies.

    COPIC COLOR SWATCH:
    Violet: RV34, RV32, RV00
    Purple: V04, V01, V00
    Brown: E25, E23, E21
    Yellow: YR18, YR13, YR06, YR20
    Teal: BG49, BG15, BG32, BG11, BG10

Oh Sheep! Interactive Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

Oh Sheep! Interactive Card by Tatiana Trafimovich | Baa Stamp Set, Moo Stamp Set, Petite Clouds Stencil, and Land Borders and Sky Scene Builder Die sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Oh Sheep!

Need a card to make someone smile? Today we are sharing an adorable card with a surprise moving element by Tatiana that is perfect for sending smiles!

Her card features a trio of adorable sheep from from our Baa Stamp Set. Tatiana colored the sheep using copic markers and a fun dotted coloring technique to give them a fun fuzzy look! She cut the images out using the coordinating Baa Die Set. For the scene, she used our Land Borders Die Set for the hills and grass and our Petite Clouds Stencil to add clouds to the sky with white texture paste. She also added a sunshine in the corner using our Sky Scene Builders Die Set. So adorable! In the center she added two hay bales from our Moo Stamp Set

Here is the extra bit of fun - the sheep on the top actually leaps back and forth over the hay bales from left (photo above) to right (photo below)!

Oh Sheep! Interactive Card by Tatiana Trafimovich | Baa Stamp Set, Moo Stamp Set, Petite Clouds Stencil, and Land Borders and Sky Scene Builder Die sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

How to create this card:

Below we have some instructions from Tatiana on how she created the interactive element for this card:
Oh Sheep! Interactive Card by Tatiana Trafimovich | Baa Stamp Set, Moo Stamp Set, Petite Clouds Stencil, and Land Borders and Sky Scene Builder Die sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  • I trimmed a piece of clear acetate and punched a whole towards the bottom. I slightly rounded the bottom corners with scissors.
  • Then I adhered a small "spin and slider disk” (I used My Favorite Things brand) to the background. The disk can be easily replaced with a round 3D foam piece.
  • I let the glue dry, inserted the acetate piece through the hole and fixed the mechanism with a small paper circle glued to the disk. The bottom part of the slider element was hid under the hay bales.
  • The sheep was popped toward the top part of the acetate on a foam tape.

Here is another look at the card. What a fun way to add an extra special element to a card by creating a piece that moves! The recipient is sure to have fun sliding the sheep back and forth!
