Matching Patterned Papers + Stamps! Halloween Cards and Video with Jennifer Jackson

Matching Papers + Stamps! Halloween Cards by Jennifer Jackson | Frankenstein-Newton Stamp Set, Circle Frames Die Set, Halloween Meows Paper Pad and Framework Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Matching Papers + Stamps!

Hello! Jen here today with a bunch of  Halloween cards that I created using our new Halloween Meows Paper Pad and Halloween Woofs Paper Pad. Did you know that each of these paper pads has patterns in them that coordinate with our stamp sets? That's what I'm going to show you today and there's a video at the end of this post too!

For my first card today (shown above), I used the stamped image of the Frankenstein kitty from our Franken-Newton Stamp Set with a patterned paper that also features the Frankenstein kitties from our new Halloween Meows Paper Pad! Isn't that fun!? Then I paired it with the diagonal striped paper, also from the Halloween Meows Paper Pad to create a fun two panel patterned background. I cut the black postage edge rectangle using our Framework Die Set and then trimmed the two paper panels to fit inside. The top paper is 3 1/2" wide by 3" tall and the bottom paper is 3 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" tall.

I also added two circles to hold the sentiment, die cutting them using our Circle Frames Die Set. I cut the kitty image out using the coordinating Franken-Newton Die Set and layered it over the circles and the paper with a bit of dimensional tape. That's it! A fun card that coordinates perfectly!

I repeated the same card again, this time using the other Frankenstein kitty and his bride from the Franken-Newton Stamp Set:

Isn't it fun how the stamped images match up with the paper patterns?

I created a couple more cards using the same card layout but different stamps and paper patterns. This card duo uses the Newton's Costume Party Stamp Set along with the matching paper from the Halloween Meows Paper Pad:

This time I switched up the colors a bit and used different patterns on the bottoms but it's otherwise exactly the same! The sentiment is also from the Newton's Costume Party Stamp Set and I used the Newton's Costume Party Die Set to cut them out.

Then I created a third set of cards, this time using the Dress-Up Doxies Stamp Set along with the Halloween Woofs Paper Pad:
Matching Papers + Stamps! Halloween Cards by Jennifer Jackson | Dress-Up Doxies Stamp Set, Circle Frames Die Set, Halloween Woofs Paper Pad and Framework Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Again, I used the same layout, just switched up the colors and paper patterns. The sentiment on this one is from the Happy Howl-oween Stamp Set (which also has a matching paper print in this paper pad), and I cut the images out using the coordinating Dress-Up Doxies Die Set.

Isn't it fun how you can use the mix and match our paper pads and stamp images for quick and easy cards!? There are so many more combos you could create! I hope you'll give this a try!

Here is a video I created showing you how to create these cards! Enjoy!

You're Super Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Superhero card by Ellen Haxelmans | Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set, Circle Frames Die Set and Cascading Stars Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

You're Super!

Today Ellen has created a fun superhero dog card that is sure to make the recipient feel appreciated!

The super card features the pup from our Dress Up Doxies wearing a superhero cape and mask! Although stamp set has a halloween theme the images in it work great for other types of cards too, like this fun superhero themed teacher card!  She colored the image of the cute pup using copic markers (find full supply list on Ellens blog) and used the coordinating Dress Up Doxies Die Set to cut it out.

She created a fun city scene by adding some tall buildings from our Newton Dreams of New York Stamp Set (retiring). The sky is filled with fun glittery stars that were added on using our Cascading Stars Stencil. She also addded a hill from black cardstock using our Land Borders Die Set. The whole scene is inside a circle that was created with our Circle Frames Die Set.

She also added a bit of personalization to the inside of the card to make it teacher themed. She added an award ribbon from our Terrific Terriers Stamp Set and a sentiment from our Classy Teachers Stamp Set

Note: The Newton Dreams of New York Stamp Set and Terrific Terriers Stamp Set are part of our retiring sale and will only be available while supplies last so if you like these designs, make sure you get it while you can and don't forget to see what else is retiring in our retiring sale category!

Paw-some Puppy Card by Nakaba Rager

You are Paw-some Card by Nakaba Rager | Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set and Cascading Stars Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

You are Paw-some!

Today we are sharing a cute superhero card by Naki! She features the cute image of the dachshund wearing a superhero cape from our Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set. This set features several cute images of dachshunds wearing costumes that are perfect for Halloween but they also work great for creating cute cards like this one just for fun any time of year!

She colored the image using soft watercolors and the no-line coloring technique. Then she cut the image out using the coordinating Dress Up Doxies Die Set. She layered the pup over a vellum circle cut out using our new Circle Frames Die Set. She added the sentiment "you are paw-some" and some paw prints from out Say Woof Stamp Set onto the vellum circle. In the background she created lime green diagonal patterned background, adding stars using our Cascading Stars Stencil with sparkly texture paste.

We hope this card by Naki has inspired you to use your seasonal stamps to create cards for other times of year!

I Wuf You Pirate Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set, Tides of Love Stamp set and various other stamps, dies and stencils by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Pirate Puppy by the Sea!

Today Ellen has created a fun nautical scene featuring the dog wearing a  pirate costume from our Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set! She colored the dog with copics, adding cute little speckled details and cut him out using the coordinating Dress Up Doxies Die Set. Then she used a bunch of other NND stamps and dies to created the fun tall scene! For the layers of sky, sand and sea, she used our Sky Borders Die SetLand Borders Die Set and our Sea Borders Die Set to create layers of clouds, waves and sand!

She added stenciled waves onto the die cut waves using our Waves Stencil. That cute crab on the bottom is from our Tides of Love Stamp Set. She added in more little fish, seaweed and shells using the little images from our Narly Mermaids Stamp Set, Purr-Maid Newton Stamp Set, Scuba Newton Stamp Set and Manatee-rific Stamp Set. She colored all these tiny little sea themed images and cut them out with their coordinating die sets.

I Wuf You Pirate Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set, Tides of Love Stamp set and various other stamps, dies and stencils by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

For the sentiment on the top, she combined the "Arrrrf" from the  Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set with the "I wuf you" from the Puppy Playtime Stamp Set.

Ellen is a genius at creating scenes! See her tips below on how she created this one!

Tips on creating this scene!

Below we have some tips from Ellen on how she created a fun tall scene!

Scene creation by Ellen Haxelmans | Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set, Framework, Land Borders, Sea Border and Sky Borders Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  1. I knew I wanted to have a sea Valentine's card with the captain dog from the Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set. For the rest of my scene I was looking out for stamps that could fit the scene in the sea and in the air. I choose a few images and colored them. It’s important also to not use  not too many different colors on a card, that’s why I use a few similar colors. This makes the whole card look more cohesive.
  2. Then I did take out watercolor paper the largest frames from the Framework Die Set. I die cut the frame twice.

Scene creation by Ellen Haxelmans | Framework, Land Borders, Sea Border and Sky Borders Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  3. After cutting the frames,  I die cut out the borders from paper that was first cut using the same frames. I used the Land Borders Die Set and Sea Borders Die Set for that. I also took white paper to cut out the largest frames again from the framework die set. Later used the SSky Borders Die Set to make puffy clouds with that white paper.
  4. I colored the layered borders with Distress Inks. For the sea I also used the Waves Stencil. The Cloudy Sky Stencil stencil where used for the clouds. Then I did put all die borders together. Some of them overlap, but that’s good to have no gaps inbetween.
There are so many fun ways to combine our products for creative scenes! We love hearing the process on how Ellen created this! If you love this project by Ellen you can visit her over at her blog Crafty Ellen to see more of her beautiful creations!

Trick or Treat Card by Nakaba Rager

Trick or Treat Card by Nakaba Rager | Knights Quest Stamp Set, Once Upon a Princess Stamp Set, Spooky Street Stamp Set and Halloween Trio Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Trick or Treat!!

Halloween is tomorrow! Are you ready? Today we are sharing a fun trick or treat card by Naki! For her card she created two adorable kids dressed for trick or treating using the princess from our Once Upon a Time Stamp Set and the knight from our Knights Quest Stamp Set. She was inspired by the costume choices of her kids this year who will be going as a prince and princess! She colored the images with gorgeous no-line coloring and then cut them out using the coordinating Once Upon a Time Die Set and Knights Quest Die Set. She also tucked a purple pumpkin candy holder behind the princess using the image from our Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set! What a fun idea!

To set the scene for these cuties she used the spooky house and graveyard from our Spooky Street Stamp Set. She dressed the scene up with a glittery gold moon in the sky that she added in using our Bokeh Stencil Set as a template for the circle. She also added in some die cut bats and the "trick or treat" die cut sentiment from our Halloween Trio Die Set. What a fun sweet scene with a little touch of spookiness! So perfect for Halloween!

Then she added a fun bright color glow behind him and added him to a super fun card with comic book style stars and papers!
