I Whale Always Love You!

Today we are sharing a fun underwater themed bookmark by Amanda!

This fun bookmark features the cute whale from our Tides of Love Stamp Set. She stamped and colored the whale, along with the seashells and sand dollar from the Summer Moments Stamp Set and colored them in soft colors. She even added a bit of sparkle for an extra special touch! These fun images were cut out using the coordinating Tides of Love Die Set and Summer Moments Die Set. 

Next, she created a fun bookmark for the images to layer onto. She cut out the bookmark in blue and white using our Bookmark Die Set. She added waves onto the blue bookmark using our Waves Stencil with white texture paste. So fun! She then added on the sentiment from the Tides of Love Stamp Set onto a circle that was die cut using our Circle Frames Die Set and ink blended to match the seashells. A bit of ribbon and twine were used the tie the bookmarks together. 

This fun creation could be tied onto a gift, using the white layer to write a message or the recipients name, and then the recipient would have a bookmark to use after the gift was opened! What a fun idea!

Turtle-y Awesome Card by Samantha Mann

Turtle-y Awesome!

This awesome underwater card created by Samantha is turtle-y awesome!

To create this beautiful card she started coloring a trio of turtles that she stamped using our Tides of Love Stamp Set. This set is perfect for Valentine cards since all the under sea creatures have hearts in their designs, but today Samantha uses just the turtles to create a fun card that could be sent any time of year! the cute colored turtles were cut out using the coordinating Tides of Love Die Set before she added them to the card. 

For the card, she created an underwater scene for the turtles to swim in. She ink blended a background with blue on top and brown on bottom to represent an underwater scene. Water and paint splatters along the bottom help it look like sand. Then she used our Sunscape Stencil some white texture paste to create rays of light! She cut the panel out using our Frames & Flags Die Set to give it fun scalloped edge and then added on the trio of turtles! Doesn't it look amazing? She added the sentiment, embossed in white on a black banner (also cut out using the Frames & Flags Die Set). A few water droplet embellishments give this card a perfect finishing touch!

Loving Whale Card by Samantha Mann

I WHALE always Love You!

Now that the holidays are over, we're starting to think about Valentine's Day! Today we have an adorable sea themed card filled with love by Samantha to share.

She started out by colored the whale and three fish from our Tides of Love Stamp Set. Isn't it cool how she added rainbows to the fish fins and the belly of the whale? She also gave the fish adorable pink cheeks and added white accents with a gel pen! She cut these cute fishy friends out using the coordinating Tides of Love Die Set.

Next, she created a underwater scene for the the fish. She used distress inks to create the water, adding lots of water and ink droplets for texture. Then she used our Sunscape Stencil with glitter paste to create rays of light coming down from the edge of the card! So pretty! She added the sentiment, "I whale always love you!" from our Tides of Love Stamp Set. She embossed the sentiment in white on black cardstock and fussy cut it out by hand.  For an extra bit of sparkle some sequins were added as a finishing touch! 

This gorgeous sea themed card is perfect for sending on Valentine's Day, or any time of year to let someone know you care!

Tides of Love Slimline Card by Amanda Wilcox

 

Undersea Valentine

Today we are heading under the sea with a card card by Amanda that would be perfect for Valentine's Day or just to let someone know you care! 

For the underwater theme she started with all the cute ocean friends from our Tides of Love Stamp Set. She colored the adorable fish, turtle, octopus and crab in fun bright pastels and added bits of sparkle to them for an extra special finishing touch. She used the coordinating Tides of Love Die Set to cut the images out. 

For her card layout she chose to do a slimline card and used our Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set to cut out the scallop edged blue panel and the white panel with three circle window cut outs. She stenciled patterns onto both panels using our Waves Stencil on the blue panel and our Seashells Stencil on the white panel. Both these patterns add perfectly to the undersea theme.

She placed the characters inside each of the windows. Aren't they so cute peeking out of the spaces? Then  added the sentiment from the Tides of Love Stamp Set onto a cute ticket shaped tag that was cut out using our Framework Die Set. 

This card is literally swimming with love! What a unique way to send caring thoughts this Valentine's Day!

Seas the Day Slimline Card by July Guest Designer Rachel Alvarado

Hello crafty friends! It's Rachel here with one last card to share for you for the month! Thank you again to Newton's Nook for inviting me to be this month's guest. I have greatly enjoyed the privilege of working with these amazing products!

I created a triple porthole slimline shaker card featuring some cute images from the Tides of Love Stamp Set. I also added some fish and my sentiment from the Scuba Newton Stamp Set. I stamped all of my images onto a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110 lb Card Stock, colored them with Copic alcohol markers (colors listed below), and used the coordinating Tides of Love and Scuba Newton Die Sets to cut them out.

For the base of my card, I trimmed some teal card stock with my paper trimmer and used the gorgeous Slimline Frames & Porthole Die Set to cut my stitched scalloped rectangle piece and my triple porthole piece from white card stock.  I blended some Distress Inks (Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Chipped Sapphire) onto another piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb Card Stock to place behind my circular windows.  Once this blending dried, I used the Waves Stencil to add some wavy ripples with white ink.

I stamped my sentiment onto the front of my card with black ink and added both some clear acetate as well as 3D foam adhesive tape behind my top piece of card stock to create some room for my shaker embellishments.  Lastly, I adhered my images to the front of my card with more 3D foam adhesive tape for lots of added dimension.

We fell in love with her gorgeous coloring and beautiful cards on instagram and can't wait to share what she creates this month using our products! Hi, I’m Rachel and I first discovered the world of card making back in 2015 when I decided to make the invitations to my sister-in-law’s baby shower. I love utilizing lots of color into my designs and enjoy all styles of card making. When I’m not crafting, I am a busy homeschooling mother of three. 

Hello crafty friends!  It's Rachel here and I'm thrilled to be guest designing for Newton's Nook Designs this month! I have a fun shaker card to share with you today using some adorable images from the Tides of Love Stamp Set.

I made the main portion of my card one layer using a masking technique along with some Gina K. Designs Masking Magic Paper. If you look at the photo below, you can see how I stamped the front images first, masked them, and then stamped the images (on top of the first image) that I wanted to appear behind them. I used the Hills & Grass Stencil as a template to create a mask for my ocean floor.  All of my images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and colored with Copic Markers (colors listed at the bottom of this post).

I knew that I wanted to use the Frames & Flags Die Set to create my shaker window, so I used the window die as a reference when stamping my images.  Once I had all of my images stamped, I than masked any image that I had not yet masked and then blended my water background with Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Inks.  Once blended, I lightly splattered this area with diluted opaque white acrylic paint as well as some diluted Wilted Violet Distress Ink.  Next, I removed the mask from the ocean floor and used the Hills & Grass Stencil to blend some Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink for my ocean floor.  I then removed all of my masking pieces and set my piece aside to dry before coloring my images.

While it was drying, I then die cut 6 of my scalloped frames from white card stock using the two largest dies that come with the Frames & Flags Die Set.  I adhered 5 of them together with liquid adhesive to create a clean cut dimensional frame to hold my shaker embellishments.  Before adding my frame, I colored my images and trimmed down my underwater piece to slightly larger than the window opening.  I stamped my sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and adhered this piece to an A2 sized top-folding base piece (cut to 4.25" x 11" and scored on the long side at 5.5") and then glued my scalloped frame layer on top of it so that my underwater scene peeked through the window opening.

I added my embellishments (3mm clear sequins) and then adhered my last frame piece to which I had glued a piece of clear acetate behind.

One Wave at a Time Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

 Catch a Wave!

Today Tatiana created a fun surfing card featuring Newton that is sure to send summer smiles! This card features Newton on surfboard from our Newton’s Perfect Wave Stamp Set. Isn't he so cute in his little fish print swim shorts!? She colored the image in bright pastels and cut it out using coordinating Newton’s Perfect Wave Die Set. She also colored an assortment of cute fish, a turtle and a crab from our Tides Of Love Stamp Set. She added beautiful coloring details using little dots of color and white gel pen accents. These images were cut out using the coordinating Tides Of Love Die Set. 

For the card base she added waves using our Waves Stencil, fading them into white on one side! 
The images and sentiment were layered over the wave pattern to create a fun surfing scene! So cute!  Some clear bubbles were added for a finishing touch!

This beautiful card by Tatiana is perfect for sending cool summer wishes to a friend on a hot day!

Sea Themed Cards for Mom and Grandma by Maria Russell

Sea Themed Cards for Mom & Grandma!

Today we are sharing a duo of sea themed cards by Maria featuring our Tides of Love Stamp Set that are perfect for sending love to a special Mother or Grandma for Mother's Day or any time of year! Although we first think of this set as a Valentine's Day Set, these projects show how this set can be used for so much more!

Her first card features the image of the Octopus hugging a heart from our Tides of Love Stamp Set. She colored him with alcohol markers, adding fun speckled details and then fussy cut the image out by hand to add to her card. For the card base she added layers of waves using the hill from our Hills & Grass Stencil with several shades of blue inks! So pretty! She added the octopus, along with some seaweed (die from another brand) and clear epoxy bubble stickers. For the sentiment she combined the word "mother" from the Lovely Blooms Stamp Set with the "You Octopi my heart!" from the Tides of Love Stamp Set.

For her second card, she created a whale card for Grandma! 

She used the image of the whale from our Tides of Love Stamp Set, stamping it in light gray to give the edges a soft look! She colored the image in soft shades, giving the octopus a sweet pink cheek! She used the coordinating Tides of Love Die Set to cut out the image. For her card she created a lovely sea colored background with distress inks. For the sentiment she combined the "I whale always love you" from the Tides of Love Stamp Set with the word "grandma" from our Lovely Blooms Stamp Set. She framed the scene with a decorative die cut frame (from another brand).

I Love Every-fin About You Card by February Guest Designer Lori U'ren

Hello crafty friends!

It's Lori today and I'm back with my third post as NND February Guest Designer!

I mentioned last week that I loved ocean themed cards, so today I have another one to share.

I began my card by creating an A2 sized card base and then die cutting waves from the Sea Borders Die Set all in different shades of blue. I also die cut the ocean floor from a the Land Borders Die Set in Kraft cardstock.

Next I stamped out all of my images from the Tides of Love stamp set on #80 Neenah Solar White cardstock using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. I ran the images through my Brother Scan n Cut and colored them with Copic markers. For my whale, I knew from the moment I saw this stamp set, I wanted to color his belly with rainbow colors. After coloring all of the images, I heat embossed the sentiment I love Every-fin about you! in WOW! Earth Tone Blueberry embossing powder to match my card.

I used thin foam tape to adhere the ocean floor and waves on my card base, and a combination of thin foam tape, 3M foam tape, Glossy Accents, and liquid glue to adhere the images to my card.

I also stamped the inside of the card with the whale and the sentiment I whale ALWAYS love you!

To complete the card I added little hearts above the whales spout, iridescent acrylic bubbles, and clear acrylic bubbles around the card. I added small dots of Glossy Accents around the card as well to look like more bubbles in the ocean.

I used a white gel pen for highlights and interest, and more Glossy Accents to the ocean animals.

You Octopi My Heart Card by February Guest Designer Lori U'ren

Hello everyone, Lori here today and I'm back with another card for you.

For today's card I used the Tides of Love Stamp Set. I love ocean themed stamp sets!

I began my card by stamping the octopus and two of the fish onto #80 Neenah Solar White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the images with Copic markers and cut them out using my Brother Scan n Cut machine.

I die cut a piece of #80 Neenah Solar White cardstock with a rectangle die from my stash to create a background for my octopus and fish. I ink blended Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord Distress Oxides with blending brushes in a circular motion. Instead of spritzing the oxides with water, I used Perfect Pearls in the color Perfect Pearls with water on an acrylic block and a small paint brush and flicked the Perfect Pearls onto my background. I used a splat box to help me from getting the Perfect Pearls all over the place, but managed to still do that! I'm just a messy crafter I suppose. But I really love the effect of the Perfect Pearls on a card. I then adhered the inked blended panel with liquid glue to an A2 lavender card base.

Next I stamped the sentiment You Octopi my heart! with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used foam tape to pop up the octopus and the fish. 

To finish my card I added shimmer with my Nuvo Shimmer pen, white highlights with a Gelly Roll pen, and Nuvo gems.

You Octopi My Heart Card by Amanda Wilcox

You Octopi my Heart!

Today we are sharing an adorable card by Amanda that will "Octopi" your heart! She created this amazing underwater scene using our new Tides of Love Stamp Set. She features the octopus and three little fish from the set, embossing them onto Bristol paper and coloring them with fun bright watercolors. Isn't the octopus so cute in orange? To cut the images out she used our coordinating Tides of Love Die Set and layered them over a fun watery background.

To create the water background she scribbled Tombow markers unto a clear stamp block and then spritzed it with water before squishing it onto the watercolor paper! What a fun technique! She cut the background panel out with a scalloped edge using Frames & Flags Die Set. She also cut out hill of sand using our Land Borders Die Set, splattering it with distress ink and paint to add that fun sand texture!

For finishing touches, she added the sentiment "you octopi my heart" onto a thought bubble that was cut out using our Speech Bubbles Die Set. She also added cute little heart shaped gems to add to the love!

This adorable Valentine by Maria will "Octopi" your heart! She used the octopus from our  Tides of Love Stamp Set. She layered this cute image over a heart filled with pink waves that were created using our Waves Stencil. She also added a fun bokeh background using our Bokeh Hearts Stencil Set. 

Andrea created an adorable fish tank to hold all the cute little fish from the new  Tides of Love Stamp Set! She created a shaker window using our Frames & Flags Die Set and layered in the fish behind it. The coral and seaweed along the bottom were added in using our Scuba Newton Stamp Set. She also added some waves in the background with our Waves Stencil.

The cute little crab on this card by Ellen is ready to send a "pinch" of love, perfect for a Valentine or Love greeting! For her card, she created a little sea scene on top of the heart from our Darling Hearts Die Set. She added the crab and fish from our new  Tides of Love Stamp Set and the sentiment was added onto a ticket shape from our Framework Die Set. For the background she used our Bokeh Hearts Stencil Set with shades of blue ink to create a unique water theme! She also used our Frames & Flags Die Set for the rounded stitched rectangle and the banner that holds the sentiment.

Valentine's Day is the perfect time for giving out treats! Larissa created this darling tote that is perfect for sharing a special treat! She added an adorable pink and teal tag onto the tote using our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set, layering the cute octopus from the  Tides of Love Stamp Set on top. Isn't it cute how she embossed the sentiment in different colors too? 

This duo of cards by Zsofia is perfect for sending cute little notes for Valentine's Day! She created lovely watery backgrounds using distress ink and cut them out using our Frames Squared Die Set for the rounded Square and the Scalloped borders. Then she added on the octopus, whale, and cute little fish from the new  Tides of Love Stamp Set with their coordinating sentiments in the corners!

Naki created this darling ocean scene featuring the whale from the new Tides of Love Stamp Set. She colored the whale in soft blues, adding pink sparkle to the hearts. Then she created a beautiful water scene using our Sea Borders Die Set to cut out a layer of vellum in front of the whale. She also added in a sky with clouds using our Clouds Stencil.
