Ice Cream Kitty Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

Ice Cream Kitty Card by Tatiana Trafimovich | Newton's Summer Treats Stamp Set, A7 Frames & Banners Die Set and Petite Paw Prints Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Treat Yo' Self!

Today Tatiana is celebrating summer with a duo of kitties enjoying frozen summer treats!

For this tasty card she stamped the two kitties with their frozen treats from our Newton’s Summer Treats Stamp Set. She colored the kitties using alcohol markers in soft neutral colors and the treats in fun summer pastels. She also added white accent details with a white gel pen. The kitties were cut out using the coordinating Newton’s Summer Treats Die Set. She then cut out two stitched rectangles using our A7 Frames & Banners Die Set and layered a kitty onto each one. The sentiments, "It's Summer" and "Treat Yo'Self" were also stamped using the Newton’s Summer Treats Stamp Set and added to the panels.

For the card base she created a colorful paw print pattern using our Petite Paw Prints Stencil. She inked it up in the same bright summer pastel colors as she used on the frozen treats, perfect for tying everything together!

Does anyone else want ice cream now? I wonder if those kitties will share?

Treat Yo' Self Card by Zsofia Molnar

Treat Yo' Self Card by Zsofia Molnar | Newton's Summer Treats Stamp Set, Cupcakes Stencil Set and Circle Frames Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Celebrate with Treats!!

Today we have a fun celebratory card by Zsofia that is filled with sweet treats!  To create this fun and tasty card she started by creating a fun background of cupcakes using our new 3 piece Cupcakes Stencil Set. She used two of the stencils from the 3 piece set to create fun gray and white cupcakes over a kraft cardstock panel. This stencil also includes a third piece if you want to add sprinkles and cherries to the cupcakes but it looks great with just the first two stencils too! She cut this panel out using our Frames & Flags Die Set to give it a fun scalloped edge.

Next, she used the image of the kitty with a giant ice cream cone from our Newton's Summer Treats Stamp Set for her focal image. She colored the kitty in neutral tones and added fun bright pops of pink, mint green and red to the ice cream! She also added a bit of gloss accents. The image was cut out using the coordinating Newton's Summer Treats Die Set

She assembled her card, framing the kitty with a circle shape that was cut out using our Circle Frames Die Set. She added a second circle, cut out with the same set using pink paper and added the sentiment from the Newton's Summer Treats Stamp Set onto it. She added some hearts too, also cut out using the bonus heart on the Circle Frames Die Set.

She finished the card by adding the sentiment "Time to Celebrate" from the Birthday Roundabout Stamp Set. She stamped this onto a mint colored banner that was cut out using the Banner Trio Die Set

This card is filled with treats that are perfect to make any day special!

You can find more of Zsofia's creations and say hello to her over at her blog, Safsafdesign.

Newton and Friends on the Beach

Hello everyone, my name is Ildi and I’m super excited and feel honored to be guest designing for Newton’s Nook this month.

We’re having a really hot summer here in Europe, so I often find myself dreaming of a day off at the beach. It gave me the idea to create two similar cards which together make a larger beach scene where Newton and his friends are having fun.

For a start I took two pieces of cardstock and attached them together on the back with a piece of removable adhesive tape so that I could handle them as one while creating the background. I tore a larger piece of paper in half and placed it diagonally on the cardstock.

I applied different shades of yellow, orange and brown Distress Inks onto the bottom area to create sand then took the negative piece of my torn paper, covered the colored area to create sea with blue Oxide Inks. To add a little texture I used a white gel pen to draw sea foam here and there.

I colored and fussy cut a bunch of elements from my favorite summer themed Newton’s Nook stamp sets: Newton’s Summer Treats and Newton’s Summer Vacation.

I found some pretty seashells in the mini set Vitamin Sea, found them perfect to have interesting details.

A Set of Stamped Background Cards by September Guest Designer Sindhu Prajay

Hello everyone! Sindhu here. Today happens to be my last GD post for Newton's Nook Designs. I'm so grateful for this opportunity and wish to thank Jen and Samantha again for inviting me over. :) My post for today is all about stamped backgrounds. I enjoy creating my own patterns by stamping backdrops for my focal images. Here is my first card...

Stamped Background Card by September Guest Designer Sindhu Prajay | Newton's Summer Treats and Summer Scoops Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

I used Newton's Summer Treats and Summer Scoops stamp sets. I stamped images from the Summer Scoops set on a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock in light grey ink and coloured the images with a grey copic marker. I used W0 since I didn't want the background to dominate my focal image. I used a stitched rectangle die to cut out a rectangular panel. Then, I coloured the image, fussy cut it and adhered it on the panel and then stuck it on the card base.

For the next card, I stamped small images from the Newton's Birthday Bash Stamp Set in the background with coloured inks. Then filled a few of those images with colour.

Since the background has so much colour, I decided to tone it down a bit by layering vellum behind my focal image which is from the Newton Loves Boxes Stamp Set. I added sentiment on a pice of white cardstock layered on red cardstock. I assembled the card on the card base.

For the last card, instead of stamping images in the background, I stamped text. Text backgrounds are so much fun. I used only a single stamp called 'Classy Teachers'. I didn't use any ruler or stamping tool for help but if you want a perfect background, one of them is recommended.

Ice Cream Cards by September Guest Designer Sindhu Prajay

Today we have our first post from our August Guest Designer, Sindhu from Paper Minty! You also might know her as sindhu_trappedincraft on instagram where she also shares her fun and whimsical creations! We are so happy to have her join us this month and we can't wait to share what she has created with our stamps! Keep reading to find out more about her today and to check out her first project below!

Hi everyone! I'm Sindhu from India. I live with my husband and our 3 year old son who just started preschool. I have been paper crafting for over 6 years and now when I think of it, I wonder why I hadn't started earlier. :) I am a Clean and Simple (CAS) lover although I try other styles quite often. I am also a lover of all things critter. I find colouring very therapeutic and my latest obsession is Copic colouring.

I'm thrilled to be joining Newton's Nook as a Guest Designer for September! I hope that you will like what I share with you every Monday through out September here.

Thank you so much, Jennifer and Samantha for this opportunity!
Hello everyone! Sindhu here. I'm thrilled to be Guest Designing for Newton's Nook Designs this month! Thank you so much for this opportunity, Jennifer and Samantha! Today, I have a couple of summer theme cards to share. I know summer is officially over but to those still longing for it, this is the post for you. :) I combined Newton's Summer Treats and Summer Scoops stamp sets to make my cards. Both the stamp sets are so much fun to play with and go very well together. Here is my first card:

To make this card, I stated by masking a part of the stitched die cut rectangle panel. Then, I sponged ink through the stencil on the upper portion of the panel. Then, I removed the masking paper and masked the stencilled pattern and sponged ink on the lower portion of the panel. The area where the two meet is ideal to ground the images. I stamped the images on a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Mememto Tuxedo black ink and coloured them with copic markers. Then, I fussy cut out the images and arranged them on the stitched rectangle panel. I also applied Wink of Stella shimmer on the ice creams but it doesn't show in the pictures. Stamped the sentiments and adhered the panel to card base. Here are couple more pictures...

Here is my second card...

For my second card, I followed the same steps like I did for the first card. To make this card, I stated by masking a part of the top folding card base. Then, I sponged ink through the stencil on the upper portion of the card base. Then, I removed the masking paper and masked the stencilled pattern and sponged ink on the lower portion. The area where the two meet is ideal to ground the images. I stamped the images on a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Mememto Tuxedo black ink and coloured them with copic markers. I fussy cut out one of the images but used a stitched frame die around the other as I wanted it to be a photo frame on the wall. I also cut the frame in brown multiple time and adhered one over the other to make it look like a frame on the wall. I adhered it on the top right. I in laid the piece with kitty and added the 'hanger' part to the frame.

I adhered the kitty with a bowl of ice cream on the ink sponged 'ground'. I heat embossed the two sentiments on strips of brown cardstock and added them using foam tape

I also added Wink of Stella on the scoops for interest.

Here is a picture with both the cards.

I hope you like the cards I shared. Thank you for visiting! See you again next week... Bye!

Cat & Ice Cream Cards by August Guest Designer Kara Pogreba

Ice cream, need I say more?  No, but of course I will! Today, Newton and his ice cream from the Newton's Summer Treats Stamp Set take center stage! This first card features Newton, stamped in light orange, and colored with Copics and a few colored pencils to create some texture on his fur.  The upper sentiment is from the Birthday Essentials Stamp Set and is woven on top of the main panel, but below the frame from the Framework Die Set. The other strips of pink paper lie underneath the panel.  The lower sentiment is from Newton's Summer Treats.

On this second card, Newton and the sentiment are stamped in black and colored in Copics.  The green background was inked in two colors of Distress ink using the lower portion of the Bubbly Stencil. I gave Newton a wonky cut panel using one the the Framework Die Set dies, and raised it up with fun foam.

It's Summer Card by Special Guest, Taheerah Atchia

Special Guest Taheerah Atchia | Newton's Nook Designs

It's Summer Card by Taheerah!

Today we have the awesomely talented Taheerah Atchia as our special guest! We are such huge fans of her work and love to share it on our blog! Today she's playing with some of the sets from our recent July release!
It's Summer Card by Special Guest, Taheerah Atchia | Seashell Stencil and Newton's Summer Treats Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
For her card today, Taheerah used our new Seashells Stencil  to create this soft and elegant beach card! She dry embossed the seashell pattern using the Seashells Stencil. Then she watercolored over the embossed panel using soft peach and blue and added some salt to give a fun mottled effect! She also dabbed a bit of white paint over the top to help the shells pop out more.

Once this lovely seashell panel was finished she mounted it onto her card base and added the sentiment, "It's Summer" from our Newton's Summer Treats Stamp Set, popping it up with some dimensional tape. She also added a lovely knot in the corner to add a bit more beachy flair!
