Happy Halloween Cat and Dog Card by Tina Herbeck

Happy Halloween Cat and Dog Card by Tina Herbeck | Trick or Treat Kittens Stamp Set, Pug Hugs Stamp Set and Spooky Street Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Happy Halloween!

Today Tina has created cute Halloween card that features a cute dog and kitty together in a spooky Halloween setting!

To create this fun duo of Halloween friends, she used the image of the puppy from our Pug-kin Stamp Set paired with the kitty from our Trick or Treat Kittens Stamp Set. Don't these two images go perfectly together!? She colored both of them, adding fun shading and patterns to their fur and to the pumpkins. She also stamped and colored some candy from the Trick or Treat Kittens Stamp Set and a small jack-o-lantern treat tote from the Count Newton Stamp Set. The images were then cut out using the coordinating dies to add to her scene (Pug-kin Die Set,  Trick or Treat Kittens Die SetCount Newton Die Set).

For the background she used trees from our Frames & Flags Die Set to create a scallop edged panel to hold the scene. On each side of the panel she embossed a spooky tree silhouette from our Spooky Street Stamp Set in black. Then she ink blended a spooky sky between the two trees with gray, purple and orange inks. She embossed the "Happy Halloween" sentiment from the Trick or Treat Kittens Stamp Set in the center. She cut out a hill using our Land Borders Die Set and inked it up with shades of gray and set our friends on top of it to complete this spooky scene! So adorable!

Happy Haunts Card by September Guest Designer Priscilla Joseph

Priscilla Joseph | Sept 2021 Guest Designer for Newton's Nook Designs
Hello Crafty Friends!
I am delighted to be back again as the September Guest Designer for Newton's Nook Designs!

Cue the creepy, eerie Halloween music because for today’s post, I’ve created a haunted night scene complete with an old graveyard, a spooky mansion, ominous-looking trees draped in spider webs, and . . . one totally unexpected traditional jack-o-lantern. LOL!   I used 2 Newton Nook stamp sets to make this card: the just released Count Newton Stamp Set (coordinating dies are available) and the Spooky Street Stamp Set.

I love to make “colorless” scenes sometimes . . . they are “unexpected” you might say. Today’s card uses only black, white, and gray.
Spooky Halloween Card by September Guest Designer Priscilla Joseph | Spooky Street Stamp Set and Count Newton Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Card Details:
  • Using a stencil from the stash, I created a brick wall background using black embossing paste on dark gray cardstock.
  • I added a stitched hill using a die and the same gray card stock.
  • I stamped the spooky house and trees from the Spooky Street Stamp Set on white card stock with black pigment ink and then cut them out using my Brother “ScanNCut2” machine.
  • I stamped the headstones and jack-o-lantern from the Count Newton Stamp Set with Copic-friendly ink before using the coordinating Count Newton Die Set to cut them out, and then colored them in several shades of gray Copics.
  • Time to make my haunted night scene! I adhered the spooky trees to the brick wall and the headstones to the hillside.
  • I foam mounted the spooky house to create more dimension and “hung” the jack-o-lantern from a tree branch.
Spooky Halloween Card by September Guest Designer Priscilla Joseph | Spooky Street Stamp Set and Count Newton Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  • For the sentiment “happy haunts” from the Spooky Street Stamp Set, I white heat embossed it on gray card stock and then foam mounted it (topped with a flying bat) above my scene.
  • For a cool finishing touch, I “strung” store-bought spider webs from the tree branches to the elements below.
  • I adhered the completed scene on to an A2 card base.
I hope you enjoyed my “haunted” Halloween card. Stay tuned to for a very bold harvest-themed card next week, using the contrasting colors of rust and navy.

Cheers, Witches! Card by Maria Russell

Halloween Witch Card by Maria Russell | Brooms & Boos Stamp Set, Count Newton Stamp Set, and Spooky Street Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Cheers, Witches!

Today we have a fun Halloween card, complete with a spooky scene by Maria! For this card she combines several of our fun Halloween stamp sets together!

She starts out by stamping the witch holding a broom from our Brooms & Boos Stamp Set and some gravestones and pumpkin treat buckets from our Count Newton Stamp Set. She colored the images with alcohol markers, adding fun details like cracks in the gravestones! The images were cut out using the coordinating Brooms & Boos Die Set and the Count Newton Die Set. She also cut out a gravestone using the die without the stamp and added black ink over the top and added hand drawn cracks using a white gel pen! How fun!

To create her spooky scene she masked off a circle for the moon and then used distress inks in purples and orange to create a fun backdrop. Then she added a spooky tree on the one side using our Spooky Street Stamp Set. She also added bats to the sky and the sentiment "Cheers, Witches!" using the Brooms & Boos Stamp Set. For the bottom of the card, she cut out a hill and grass from black card stock using our Land Borders Die Set and sponged white ink on the edges. These borders make a perfect graveyard scene!

Happy Haunts Card by Maria Russell

Happy Haunts Card by Maria Russell | Knight Owl Stamp Set, Spiderweb Stencil, Spooky Street Stamp Set and What a Hoot Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Happy Haunts!

We are starting to get excited for Halloween! Today we have an awesome and just a tiny bit spooky card created by Maria that is sure to inspire you!

She started out with that adorable owl wearing the knight's armor from our Knight Owl Stamp Set. She colored that cute little image in neutral tones, adding a fun pop of blue on the moon. The image was cut it out using the Knight Owl Die Set.

For that amazing background she masked off a circle to create a moon, then used distress inks along with our Spiderweb Stencil to create a gorgeous blue and purple web background. She placed the owl over the masked circle and gave him a branch to perch on that was die cut using our What a Hoot Die Set. Such a fun idea! She added the sentiment "happy haunts"  and some little bats onto the sky from our Spooky Street Stamp Set.

Trick or Treat!!

Halloween is tomorrow! Are you ready? Today we are sharing a fun trick or treat card by Naki! For her card she created two adorable kids dressed for trick or treating using the princess from our Once Upon a Time Stamp Set and the knight from our Knights Quest Stamp Set. She was inspired by the costume choices of her kids this year who will be going as a prince and princess! She colored the images with gorgeous no-line coloring and then cut them out using the coordinating Once Upon a Time Die Set and Knights Quest Die Set. She also tucked a purple pumpkin candy holder behind the princess using the image from our Dress Up Doxies Stamp Set! What a fun idea!

To set the scene for these cuties she used the spooky house and graveyard from our Spooky Street Stamp Set. She dressed the scene up with a glittery gold moon in the sky that she added in using our Bokeh Stencil Set as a template for the circle. She also added in some die cut bats and the "trick or treat" die cut sentiment from our Halloween Trio Die Set. What a fun sweet scene with a little touch of spookiness! So perfect for Halloween!

Happy Haunts Card by Holly Endress

Happy Haunts Card by Holly Endress | Spooky Street Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Happy Haunts!

I know you've been enjoying our Christmas release but let's not forget about Halloween coming up next week! Today we are sharing this spooky card by Holly! She used that spooky haunted house image along with the tree, graveyard and bats from our Spooky Street Stamp Set! Then she created an awesome inked background using distress inks.  Those purples are so pretty with the lighter glow in the middle behind the house. It's super cool how she masked off an area to apply ink to to keep her card simple! That way you don't have so many layers on your card. She finished the card off with some fun purple and black dots and the "happy haunts" sentiment embossing in white on black cardstock.

Spooky Street Halloween Card

Spooky Watercolor Halloween Card by Jennifer Jackson | Spooky Street Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs

Spooky Skies for Halloween!

Today I'm sharing a fun Halloween card I created using our Spooky Street stamp set! I took mini distress ink pads and squished them onto a craft mat and then pulled my cardstock through it until I had the background color I wanted. After it dried I added some water droplets to get the lighter spots. I love how distress ink reacts again to water after it's dry!

Spooky Watercolor Halloween Card by Jennifer Jackson | Spooky Street Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs

Once my background was dry I stamped several trees from the Spooky Street stamp set along with some stars and bats. I used black archival ink to do this. Then I added on a small strip of purple and black striped paper and some Halloween word washi tape.  I also stamped the "Happy Halloween" sentiment, also from the Spooky Street stamp set and added it on with a little flagged edge. I love how this turned out! So perfect for Halloween!
