Joyful Winter Tidings! 

Hello! Jen here today and I'm sharing a beautiful winter scene that I created with some of my favorite winter products! 

To create this card I started by stamping the silhouette of the ice skating couple from our Winter Memories Stamp Set in black. I cut the image out using the coordinating Winter Memories Die Set. I also cut out the an icy shape to put below them from vellum using the Winter Memories Die Set. 

For my card, I created a winter scene for the skaters. I used our Land Borders Die Set to create a couple layers of snowy hills in the foreground. To create the trees and sky, I used our Christmas Tree Line Stencil to create the trees and trunks using the stencil with brown and green inks over a piece of light blue cardstock. Next, I used our Petite Snow Stencil with some white texture paste to add a bit of falling snow over the pines. So lovely! I assembled all the pieces together and gave the whole scene a postage shaped edge using our Framework Die Set. Then, I added the sentiment "joyful tidings" from our Winter Memories Stamp Set onto the snowy area in front. 

I love how this turned out! This lovely card would work perfectly for a Christmas greeting or just a fun winter hello! 

Newton's Nook Designs & Wow Embossing Powder Inspiration Week - Day 3 with Tatiana & Jennifer

Newton's Nook Designs and WOW embossing powders are collaborating all week long to offer you inspiration using their products together! Both design teams will be sharing fun ways to use embossing powders on your projects using WOW embossing powders paired with Newton's Nook Designs stamps! 

Today we are featuring projects by Tatiana and Jennifer! 

First up we are sharing a fun ghost card by Tatiana: 

This adorable ghost card by Tatiana is perfect for a cheerful Halloween greeting! She used our Ghosts Stencil and applied Versamark ink over it. Then she used the White Puff embossing powder from WOW! to embossing the ghosts. This powder gives the ghosts a bit of texture too! She used our Boo Hoo Stamp Set for all the little thought bubbles, stamping them with a slow drying ink so she could add Neutral Ultra Shimmer embossing powder from WOW! to the sentiments for a bit of extra sparkle. She cut the thought bubbles out using the coordinating Boo Hoo Die Set. She also added googly eyes onto the ghosts for more fun.

 Next, we have gorgeous duo of sparkly winter cards by Jennifer (owner of Newton's Nook Designs):

For her first card, she stamped the silhouettes of two ice skaters from our Winter Memories Stamp Set using Versamark ink. She embossed them using Fool's Gold embossing powder from Wow! Embossing Powders. She also stamped the trees with Versamark ink and embossed them using Green Glitz embossing powder from WOW! She cut the images out using the coordinating Winter Memories Die Set  and then used the images to create a winter scene, adding in a hill using our Land Borders Die Set. She also created a skating pond for them using the image from the Winter Memories Stamp Set with Versamark ink and embossing it with Sparkling Snow embossing powder from WOW! For the background she cut out the postage edged panel using our Framework Die Set. To finish the card she added the sentiment onto the kraft colored sky using  Opaque Bright White embossing powder from WOW!

For her second card Jennifer created a fun winter scene featuring the deer from our Serene Silhouettes Stamp Set. She stamped the deer using Versamark ink and then embossed them using Fool's Gold embossing powder from WOW! She cut the deer out using the coordinating Serene Silhouettes Die Set to add to her card. The snowy hills were cut from white paper using our Land Borders Die Set. In the background she added a cluster of birch trees from the Serene Silhouettes Stamp Set, embossing them using Sparkling Snow embossing powder from WOW! She added the vellum banner using our Frames & Flags Die Set and added the "noel" sentiment to it from our Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set. The sentiment was embossed using  Red Glitz  embossing powder from WOW!

Life's a Picnic Card by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi

The new picnic themed stamp sets were love for the first sight for me, I immediately knew

that these cuties would appear in one of my projects while guesting in July.

This time I decided to create a large sized card - 5,5 X 7 inch - with a bunch of colored

images. As a start I Copic colored and fussy cut images from the sets Woodland Picnic and

Newton’s Picnic. Plaid Stencil Set was perfect to create a blanket for my critters to sit on. I

applied red and blue distress inks onto a piece of white cardstock through stencil 1 and 2

and drew tassels on two sides with a black fineliner before cutting it around.

To create a super colorful woodland background I took my favorite pine trees from Winter

Memories and stamped them in a row with various colors of Memento inks making sure that

the trees are overlapping each other. Fussy cutting this 7 inch row of pine trees may take a

little time :).

For this busy and colorful scene I wanted to have a cloudy blue sky in story book style. So I

dabbed embossing ink through my Cloudy Sky Stencil onto a white piece of cardstock and heat set

with clear embossing powder. This way my clouds stayed white after applying blue distress

ink onto the whole surface.

Before assembling my card I white heat embossed my favorite sentiment from Woodland

Picnic stamp set onto the green card front as well as some ants heading to the picnic basket. I

adhered all the background elements with liquid glue while the stamped and colored images

got a little dimension with foam dots.

Warm Winter Wishes Card by January Guest Designer Toni Maddox

Hi, everyone!  Toni of Frankie Helps Craft guest designing with you again this week!

My card this time uses the Winter Memories silhouettes set. I love silhouettes as they allow me to go nuts on the background as I did here with a rainbow Evergreens tree backdrop. I sponged them using a variety of Distress Oxides. Isn't that fun?!

Originally I had intended to only stamp the silhouettes in Versafine Onyx Black but decided I wanted it to pop more so I embossed the figures. Love that shine. I left the sentiment and snowflakes plain black so they wouldn't compete too much with the couple. This will definitely brighten up someone's  winter day.

Newton's Nook Designs & Therm O Web Inspiration Week - Day 5 with Maria & Zsofia

This week Newton's Nook Designs and Therm O Web are partnering for a fabulous inspiration week! All week long both design teams will be sharing ways to add fun foils and more to your cards using Therm O Web products with Newton's Nook Designs stamps! There are prizes too! Today we are featuring projects by Maria and Zsofia! 

First we have two gorgeous Fall Hedgehog cards by Maria: 

Maria created this adorable card featuring those sweet hedgehogs from our Hedgehog Hollow Stamp Set. She colored the hedgehogs, ladybugs and mushrooms with copic markers and then cut them out with the coordinating Hedgehog Hollow Die Set to add to her card. Behind the hedgehogs she created a gorgeous shaker window. She used the Deco Foil Designer Toner Sheets (Wilderness) from with Gold Deco Foil from Therm O Web to create the sparkly tree pattern. She used this for the front of the shaker and framed it with a die cut frame and filled it with sequins. She added a bow on top that was cut out using our Pines & Holly Die Set. She also added a layer of golden inked grass along the bottom using our Land Borders Die Set to complete the Fall scene! 

For her second card, Maria utilized the piece of foil that was leftover from using the the first card when she used the  Deco Foil Designer Toner Sheets (Wilderness) from Therm O Web! You can use these fun leftover pieces to get the most out of your foil! she covered her card in this piece, gluing it over a pale blue background. then she added that cute hedgehog along with some mushrooms from our Hedgehog Hollow Stamp Set across the center of the card. She used the coordinating Hedgehog Hollow Die Set again to cut them all out. She finished off the card with the "thankful" sentiment from our Thankful Thoughts Stamp Set. So lovely!

 For our last project this week we have three sparkly holiday cards by Zsofia:

For her first card, Zsofia created a lovely winter scene featuring our Winter Memories Stamp Set. She added the skating couple and tree images from the set, cutting them out with the coordinating Winter Memories Die Set. For the sparkly snowy background she used our Petite Snow Stencil along with Deco Foil Transfer Gel and Opal Deco Foil from Therm O Web. She added cut out the word "Christmas" using our Holiday Greetings Die Set with Deco Foil Peel N Stick Toner Sheets and added foil using Gina K Glittering Green Fancy Foil. She also used our Frames & Flags Die Set for the fun scallop edged border.

For her second card, Zsofia featured the cute little mice from our The Nutcracker Squeak Stamp Set, coloring them in lovely shades of purple, blue and mint. She cut them out using the coordinating The Nutcracker Squeak Die Set to add to her card. For the gorgeous snowy background she used our  Snowfall Stencil along with Deco Foil Transfer Gel and Iridescent Deco Foil from Therm O Web. This foil gives such a pretty look when it catches the light! 

For her third card Zsofia created this sweet holiday tree card! She used She used the Deco Foil Designer Toner Sheets (O Christmas Tree) from with Summer Rainbow Deco Foil from Therm O Web to create the sparkly tree pattern. She created a curvy cut on her card front top and bottom using our Land Borders Die Set. Then she added the die cut words on top and bottom using our our Holiday Greetings Die Set with Deco Foil Peel N Stick Toner Sheets and added foil using Gold Deco Foil. Such fun bright holiday colors!

Beautiful Tags by October Guest Designer Bobbi Lemanski

Hi there! It’s Bobbi again. Today is my last post as the Guest Designer for Newton’s Nook Designs (sad face). I’ve really had fun sharing my creations with you. Since today is my last day, I thought it was only appropriate to leave by “tagging” the next guest designer and you. Tag you’re it! It’s time to get creative and get those holiday gifts, cards and tags done before you run out of time. I’ve been working on a few myself and wanted to share them with you….

Stag Tags for the Holidays

There’s something about antlers that I find interesting and pretty. In fact, I have two on my mantel and I’m not even a hunter nor an outdoorsy, nature girl. Of course, my deer heads are more of the modern type - white and from Target! I think these tags celebrate the beauty of nature around us. 

For the two deer tags, I used Adventure Awaits (I love that artistic deer head), Winter Memories (for the trees)  and Splendid Stags and Pines and Holly dies. For the backgrounds, I created two wood-looking backgrounds using my ruler and Copic Markers to mimic rustic boards and shiplap. I also used the “Season’s Greetings” sentiment from the new set, Ornamental Wishes. By the way, one of these deer heads is on SALE right now, and (hint) awaiting and adventure with you, too! It’s a retiring set so snag this stag before it’s gone!

The gray tag background uses the Serene Stripes Stencil. When I turned the stencil 90 degrees and used embossing paste on it for high contrast, I saw these strong vertical lines reminding me of thin birch or pine tree trunks in the woods. I added a few pine branches from the Pines and Holly set (a must for your stash) to create the tree-like images along with a sentiment from Sentiments of the Season. A little pine cone covered in Liquid Applique adorns the sentiment band. 

These designs could easily be used for a greeting card or for Thanksgiving table place cards, too. For gifting, I plan to use them with kraft and/or a red/black buffalo plaid wrap for the holidays 

Traditional Toppers Keep the Winter Memories Alive

The Winter Memories stamp set and dies are the star of the show for these traditional tags. The set’s silhouettes are so pretty. Combining them with softer, subtle colors of pinks, blues and greens makes for a beautiful and stunning contrast. 

For the first card, I created a larger shaker tag using circle dies. Shaker cards are a snap if you use the Double Sided Adhesive Foam available at Newton’s Nook Designs. To cover the outer edges of the foam on the sides of the shaker, I add double sided tape in the same width and rolled in glitter to cover. It not only finishes the edge, but it sparkles, too!  The background uses the new Evergreen Stencil with white embossing paste for dimensional snow-covered trees. I used the ornament topper from the new Ornament Shaker Die set to transform the circle shaker into an ornament. The other two coordinating tags in the same colors use many of the same sets and dies on other tags.  

Let’s Get Lit with Some Merry and Bright! 

The next set of tags are merry, bright and perfect for any age!  Kids may especially enjoy their interactive features. The slider, shaker, and sliding window add to the fun! Did  you notice that I used the new Petite Snow Stencil with white embossing paste on three of the tag bases? LOVE it!  

I used these Newton’s Nook Designs products to complete the tags:  Winter Woofs, Frozen Fellowship, Fleece Navidad (and dies)  and Cups of Cocoa and dies along with others already mentioned. Here’s a side view of the window slider card. You can see the inside sentiment, the stamped snowflakes and the ornament topper I used for the pull tab!  

To finish the tags, I like to cut the tag back panel in a fun accent color like pink or green to cover any bleeding from my Copic coloring from the front panel. It also makes the tag more durable under the tree, too.

This amazing winter scene was created by Juliana using our new Winter Memories Stamp Set to create those lovely silhouettes and snowflakes! She also used our Land Borders Die Set for the snowy hill and our Framework Die Set for the postage edge panel. 

Tatiana created this amazing sparkly winter card using several of our new products! She started by stenciling those trees using our new Evergreens Stencil and then added a layer of tiny snowflakes on top with our Petite Snow Stencil. She added in the Happy Holidays die cut words using the new Holiday Greetings Die Set with sparkly silver paper! 

Samantha made this stunning skating scene using the ics skating couple, ice pond, and trees from our new Winter Memories Stamp Set. She added a gorgeous pink watercolored sky and stamped the words from the Winter Memories Stamp Set, adding on the die-cut "Christmas" using the Holiday Greetings Die Set with sparkly gold paper!

This card by Naki has a gorgeous vintage feel to it! She used the silhouettes of tree and the sledding kids from our Winter Memories Stamp Set. Then she added that lovely snowy sky using the new Petite Snow Stencil with white embossing paste. She finished out her card with a sparkly red "Merry Christmas" sentiment that was die cut using our new Holiday Greetings Die Set. The postage edge panel was cut using the  Framework Die Set.

Amanda created this gorgeous woodland scene using the tall pines from our new Forest Scene Builder Die Set. She added a lovely moon behind the pines and added snowy paint splatters to the top. Then she added the "Merry Christmas" sentiment, die cutting it from gold using our new Holiday Greetings Die Set.

Zsofia created this lovey winter wonderland using our silhouettes from the new Winter Memories Stamp Set in front of hills that were created with the Land Borders Die Set. She used the new Evergreens Stencil for the lovely white trees in the background too! 

This amazing black and white card was created by Holly! She used the silhouettes from the new Winter Memories Stamp Set in black over a vellum rectangle that was cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set. She added on some snow with our Land Borders Die Set. For the background she used the new Music Stencil. So elegant and pretty!

This gorgeous tree card was created by Ellen using our new dies and stencils! She created the fun tree image using the trees from our Evergreens Stencil and added sky above them with distress inks. Then she added the custom sentiment, stamping "Merry &" from our Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set and added the die cut "Bright" using our new Holiday Greetings Die set with glittery gold paper! She also used the scallop edged background from our Frames & Flags Die Set.

Larissa created this stunning card using the silhouettes from the new Winter Memories Stamp Set embossed onto an ornament! (Shhhh... the ornament shape is a sneak peek of a die set that we'll reveal later this week!) She used our Pines & Holly Die Set to add the holly and pine branches along the top. She also used our Framework Die Set for the postage edged panel. 

This gorgeous winter scene was created by Maria! She used the sleigh silhouette from our new Winter Memories Stamp Set and created layers of snowy hills for it using our Land Borders Die Set. She also added in the lovely birch trees and birds using the new Forest Scene Builder Die Set!
