Happy New Year Card by Amanda Wilcox

Happy New Year Card by Amanda Wilcox | Newton's 4th of July Stamp Set, Newton's New Year Stamp Set, Circle Frames Die Set and Fireworks Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Happy New Year!

Have you finished your Christmas Cards and are ready to move on to the New Year? Or maybe you're planning on Sending our New Year's Cards instead?  Either way, today we have the purr-fect New Year's inspiration by Amanda!

This card features the cute image of Newton on a giant firework from our Newton's 4th of July Stamp Set. Although this stamp set has a 4th of July theme, all you need to do is change the sentiment to stretch it's use for other occasions! Amanda colored the image in fun bright pastels and cut it out using the coordinating Newton's 4th of July Die Set. Then she created a coordinating background for the New Year theme using our Fireworks Stencil with fun bright pastels!

She layered Newton onto the sky and added the "Happy New Year" sentiment from our Newton's New Year Stamp Set, stamped onto a circle that was die cut using our Circle Frames Die Set. She added a few sparkly stars and silver splatters for a finishing touch!

Cheers for You Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Cheers for You Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Slimline Die Set, Bubbly Stencil, and Newton Celebrates Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Cheers For You!

Today Ellen is sharing a fun celebratory card using our Newton Celebrates Stamp Set. Although we shared many cards over New Year's Eve using this stamp set, she wanted to show how you can use this card for any celebration throughout the year!

For her card today, she colored the kitty in the martini glass from the Newton Celebrates Stamp Set using copic markers. She added such fun patterns to the fur and sweet pink cheeks too! The image was cut out using the coordinating Newton Celebrates Die Set. She also colored a chocolate from the Love & Chocolate Stamp Set and some bubbles and confetti from the Newton's New Year Stamp Set. She used the coordinating Love & Chocolate Die Set and Newton's New Year Die Set to cut these out.

For the card base, she created a slimline card using our Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set to give the pink panel a fun scalloped edge. Then she added to the celebration theme by using our Bubbly Stencil with orange and yellow distress inks and layering that on top of the scalloped frame.

To finish out the card, she used the word "cheers" on the top, cut out using our Cocktail Mixer Die Set from pink glitter paper. The "for you" was stamped from our Newton Celebrates Stamp Set and embossed in white.

We hope you enjoyed this fun project today from Ellen! To see more unique creations by Ellen, you can visit her over at her blog Crafty Ellen!

Oink Trio of Birthday Cards by Ellen Haxelmans

Pig Birthday Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Oink Stamp Set, Frames Squared and Frames & Flags Die Sets and Confetti Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Squeal! You'll Love with These Piggy Cards by Ellen!

Today we have a trio of adorable piggy cards created by Ellen! She used the adorable pig images from our Oink Stamp Set to create three fun pig cards! For the first card (shown above) she used the piggy with the birthday cake. She colored the image and used the coordinating Oink Die Set to cut the image out. Then she layered it over a fun yellow splattered background that was cut out using our
Frames Squared Die Set.

If you like this splattered look on this little background piece, scroll to the end of this post for instructions on how to do this technique!

For the background she used our  for the large scalloped border. She also cut out the stitched rectangle using our Frames & Flags Die Set and stenciled confetti on it using our Confetti Stencil.

For the second piggy card, Ellen used the image of the pig with the big bow from our Oink Stamp Set and paired him with a pie slice from our Newton's Thanksgiving Stamp Set. So cute! She cut the images out with the coordinating Oink Die Set and Newton's Thanksgiving Die Set. She used a similar layout as the last card, adding layers using our Frames & Flags Die Set and Frames Squared Die Set. This time she used the Hardwood Stencil for the background panel.

The third piggy card using the cute image of the pig from our Oink Stamp Set lying on the ground. This time she paired the pig with the champagne glass from the Newton's New Year Stamp Set  and party hat from the Newton Celebrates Stamp Set. She used the coordinating dies to cut the pieces out and layered them again with shapes from our Frames & Flags Die Set and Frames Squared Die Set. On this card she also used our Bubbly Stencil for the background bubbles and added the "sip happens" sentiment from our Wine a Little Stamp Set.

Here's a little tutorial from Ellen on how to make the Splattered Backgrounds!

Splatter Background by Ellen Haxelmans | Frames Squared Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

  • First apply your ink. It's best to use an ink that reacts with water like Distress ink or Oxide inks. I used Oxide inks. After that I used water. For this I use a mini mister with water. Take out the nozzle and tap with your finger on it. The water drops will fall on your paper. Wait till you see the ink reaction from the water and then dab wet areas away with a towel.
  • You can do the same ‘tapping’ technique with white Dylusions White Linen ink. The only difference is that I heat it with my heat gun to dry.
  • The last step is to apply a glimmer ink. For this I use Glitter Sprays are my favorite. After you sprinkled the ink, you dab the ink off with a towel.

Season's Givings Blog Hop

Happy New Year & a Blog Hop!

Happy New Year Everyone! Today we are thrilled to be participating in the Seasons Givings Blog Hop! The idea for this wonderful hop was created by Latisha Yost and it's all about thanking our blog readers.

If you are new to our blog - WELCOME! We hope you will keep coming back for more inspiration this year! If you are already a reader - THANK YOU! We are so grateful for all of you who read our blog every day and we are happy for the chance to say thank you for your support of our small business!!

Just in case you aren't familiar with our brand, we are a small husband and wife company - Jen and Jeff- run out our home in southern Wisconsin. Jen is the creative side and is the artist behind all the adorable stamp designs in our shop. Jeff is more on the analytic side and runs the business and web side of things! Although we both definitely help each other whenever we can, Jen looking over spreadsheets and Jeff helping decide on product design ideas! We are supervised by our two adorable kitties - Newton, who is the namesake of our company, and Hobbes, who is his sweet, slightly younger brother.

Here's a quick photo of Newton (he's the orange one - just like our logo) and Hobbes in their favorite snuggly spot!

Happy New Year Card!

Since today is the first day of the New Year I wanted to share a New Years card I just created with everyone!

Season's Givings Blog Hop | New Years card by Jennifer Jackson | Newton Celebrates and Newton's New Year Stamp Sets and Bubbly Stencil #newtonsnok #handmade

I have been having so much fun with our new Newton Celebrates and Newton's New Year Stamp Sets! Those kitties with the champagne make me smile! For this card I used the kitty holding the bottle from the Newton's New Year Stamp Set and the kitty holding the champagne glass is from the Newton Celebrates Stamp Set. They are so cute together! I colored both images using Copic markers and cut them out with their coordinating die sets. For the background of this card I cut a panel of shiny silver paper and then used our Bubbly Stencil with white embossing paste over the top! For a bit more texture, I layered a piece of vellum that I cut into a stitched rectangle using our Frames & Flags Die Set over the top. Then I added a black banner, also cut out with the Frames & Flags Die Set and layered the kitties over the top. I wanted to add the year onto the banner so I got out our Essential Alphabet Die Set to add in the 2019. This die set is perfect for adding custom words and numbers to your cards! I finished out the card by stamping the "happy new year" sentiment from the Newton's New Year Stamp Set on a yellow circle and tucking it behind the kitties!
