Happy Surf Day Card by Donna Idlet

Happy SURF day!

Instead of sending a birthday card to a friend who loves the beach, how about sending a "SURF" day card like this one created by Donna! 

To create this incredible beach scene, Donna started by creating a sunset using our Retro Sun & Palms Stencil. This two piece stencil includes a layer with a sunset and one with palm trees, perfect for filling a card front. She used warm yellow and orange inks on the sun layer and then colored the palms in traditional green and brown. Then she added a sandy beach by cutting an edge using our Land Borders Die Set from kraft colored cardstock. She added a fun dotted texture along the edges to make it look sandy. 

The star of the show is the kitty carrying the surf board from our Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set. Isn't she adorable!? Donna colored the image in fun bright summer colors and added pink cheeks and white gel pen accents too! The image was cut out using the Newton's Perfect Wave Die Set. 

The sentiment "Happy Surf Day" was stamped from the Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set onto the sky.

Enjoy Life One Wave at a Time Card by Zsofia Molnar

Enjoy the Waves!

Today we are sharing a fun tropical card created by Zsofia that is perfect for a hot summer day! She created this picturesque scene featuring the kitty with a surfboard from our Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set. She colored the image with alcohol markers, giving the girl kitty a fun bright pink swimsuit to match the flowers on the surfboard! How cute! She cut the image out using the coordinating Newton's Perfect Wave Die Set. Behind the kitty, a tropical beach scene was created by using our Sea Borders Die Set to add a wave and our Land Borders Die Set to create the sandy hill shape. She added distress ink to both pieces to add dimension and added some dot effects on the sand too. In the sky she added sun and vellum clouds that were die cut out using our Sky Scene Builder Die Set. The sentiment, "enjoy life one wave at a time" was stamped onto one of the vellum clouds before she added it to her card.  A few sea birds were hand drawn into the sky for a finishing touch!

The stitched edged rectangle shape that frames the scene was cut using our Frames & Flags Die Set.  For the background she added a postage edged frame that was cut out using our Framework Die Set from tropical patterned paper.

One Wave at a Time Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

 Catch a Wave!

Today Tatiana created a fun surfing card featuring Newton that is sure to send summer smiles! This card features Newton on surfboard from our Newton’s Perfect Wave Stamp Set. Isn't he so cute in his little fish print swim shorts!? She colored the image in bright pastels and cut it out using coordinating Newton’s Perfect Wave Die Set. She also colored an assortment of cute fish, a turtle and a crab from our Tides Of Love Stamp Set. She added beautiful coloring details using little dots of color and white gel pen accents. These images were cut out using the coordinating Tides Of Love Die Set. 

For the card base she added waves using our Waves Stencil, fading them into white on one side! 
The images and sentiment were layered over the wave pattern to create a fun surfing scene! So cute!  Some clear bubbles were added for a finishing touch!

This beautiful card by Tatiana is perfect for sending cool summer wishes to a friend on a hot day!

Design Team member Zsofia Molnar couldn't just pick one card, so she picked two cards by Meghan Kennihan. The first card used the Oink Stamp Set and the coordinating Oink Die Set.

"I love everything about this card: the layout with all the layers, the patterned papers that they match the farm theme and the cutest little piggies, how they take center stage! The little jewels are perfect finishing touch!"

The second card uses our Cuppa Cactus Stamp Set and the coordinating Cuppa Cactus Die Set.

"I love the stencil play and how the different colours play together nicely. The glitter gel accents are fabulous and even the little splatters give so much texture! The colours are well chosen and bringing the glittery accents back on the cacti ties everything together."

Design Team member Tatiana Trafimovich picked this amazing, summery card set by Sheyla Corredig at makingbeautifulcards. These cards use our Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set, Newton's Perfect Wave Die Set, Sky Scene Builder Die Set, Sea Borders Die Set and Waves & Splashes Stencil.

"My eyes were immediately caught by these beautiful cards created by Sheyla! The bright, vibrant and happy summer colors suits perfectly the wonderful images from NND Newton’s Perfect Wave stamp set! The pop of yellow and red tones creates an amazing contrast against the cool blue backgrounds! Great and clever use of stencils and dies for the layout makes wonderful scenes for the kitty stamps! Sheila has an incredible coloring skills! The shades added to the colored stamps give a 3D look to the whole projects!"

One Wave at a Time Card by August Guest Designer Mindy Baxter

Hello! It’s Mindy from My Creative Scoop and I’m back with another card to share for Newton’s Nook Designs. Today I’m using the stamp set, Newton’s Perfect Wave. I colored him up with my Copic Markers and used my distress oxide inks to create the background.

Here are the color combos I used:

Newton – N0, N1, N3, N5, R32, R30

Surf Board and shorts – Y35, Y02, Y11, BG11, BG13

Distress Oxide Colors – Peacock Feathers, Dried Marigold and Squeezed Lemonade.

 

The white gel pen really adds the details for the wave breaking and adding all the bubbles.

Happy Surf Day Card by Andrea Shell

Let's go Surfing!

Today we headed to the beach with this incredible surfing themed card by Andrea! She created this card in a fun tall format so she could fit in all those fun friends at the beach. She started out by created a beach scene using our Hills & Grass Stencil with distress inks to create the sandy hill and soft waves. She also added some soft clouds in the sky using our Clouds Stencil.

She added the two kitties with their surf boards from our Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set to the beach! She colored them in fun bright colors, added cute details and stripes! The kitties were cut out using the coordinating Newton's Perfect Wave Die Set.  The sentiment in the sky is also from the Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set.

Then she added that cute corgi on a surfboard and the seashells from our Corgi Beach Stamp Set. These images were cut out using the coordinating Corgi Beach Die Set

I'm loving this tall format! Isn't it fun how changing the shape of the card creates a whole new area to work with?

The Purr-fect Wave Card & Video by Maria Russell

Catch the Purr-fect wave!

Today Maria created this adorable beach scene featuring that cute girl kitty from our new Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set. She colored the kitty and her surfboard in fun bright pinks and blues and give her cute little freckles on her cheeks! She used our coordinating Newton's Perfect Wave Die Set to cut out the image. She created a fun beach scene for the the background and added in seagulls from our new Gull Friends Stamp Set, cutting them out using the coordinating Gull Friends Die Set. She also added in seashells using the little images from the Corgi Beach Stamp Set, also cutting them out with the coordinating Corgi Beach Die Set

Newton's Nook Designs 6 YEAR Celebration Blog Hop!

Newton’s Nook Designs is so excited to be celebrating our SIX Year Anniversary
- WOW - That's six whole years of getting our paws inky!

I remember how excited I was when our first four sets came in the mail over six years ago! Now we have over XX products in our shop! It's been an Incredible journey so far- filled with happiness, stress, lots of excitement and very little sleep! Here are a few behind the scenes photos from this last year of Jeff and I and our little helpers, Newton and Hobbes!

We want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all our fans, designers and customers who helped make it happen! We are so happy to be here and we can't wait to see what the next year brings!

Every stop on the hop is sharing cards made with our new products and I made a card to share today too! For my card I colored the image of Newton surfing from our new Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set. Isn't that kitty adorable in his bathing suit with fish on it!? I colored the image with copics and added fun little stripes to the kitty.

For the background I created layers of clouds using our new Clouds Stencil. Then I added a die cut wave across the bottom using our Sea Borders Die Set. I cut this whole panel out using the scalloped edge from our Framework Die Set. For the background I created a fun pattern of orange leaves using our Tropical Leaves Stencil. Last, I added the sentiment from the Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set, stamping it onto a circle that I cut out using our Frames Squared Die Set. I added some orange distress ink to the circle to make it look like a sun!

This incredible under water scene was created by Tatiana. She used the kitty in scuba gear, fish and coral from our new Scuba Newton Stamp Set. She layered the images over a fun stenciled background that was created using the hill from our new Hills & Grass Stencil to create soft waves and sand.

The two kitties on this card by Larissa are having a great day of surfing! She used the boy and girl kitties from our Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set. She created that awesome beach background for them using our Land Borders Die Set for the beach and our Sea Borders Die Set for the waves. The clouds in the sky were created using our new Clouds Stencil.

Newton is having so much fun scuba diving and seeing all the fish on this card by Zsofia. She used the kitty and fish from our new Scuba Newton Stamp Set to create this adorable underwater scene. The  window looks in to the inside of the card. Head over to her blog to see more photos!

Amanda created this delightful summer card featuring Newton and his surfboard from our new Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set. She aded in a sky full of minty clouds using our new Clouds Stencil. She also used our Framework Die Set for the scalloped frame. 

Andrea created a enchanting shaker card featuring the kitty and fish from our new Scuba Newton Stamp Set! She added sequins to the scene inside for extra fun when you shake it. The fun scalloped frame for the shaker was cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set. So adorable!

Hang ten! This beautiful tropical card by Holly features the sweet girl kitty with her surfboard from our new Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set. For her background she created a lovely tropical pattern using our Hibiscus Stencil Set. She also added some waves to the banner behind the kitty using our new Waves & Splashes Stencil. 

Newton is so adorable surfing on the colored waves on this card by Naki. She used the kitty on the surfboard from our new Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set and layered him over a background of waves that were created using our new Waves & Splashes Stencil. She also used the die cut word "Aloha" from our Aloha Newton Die Set.

Ellen created a fabulous diving scene featuring Newton in his scuba gear from our new Scuba Newton Stamp Set. The kitty is surrounded by fish and coral, also from the new set. She also used our Land Borders Die Set for the sand and the our Frames & Flags Die Set for the scalloped edge. The scuba kitty even slides across the card to add more fun!
