Hello Newton’s Nook Fans!

Sharing with you today A quick and easy card with a twist!
This card starts off with my choice of these two papers.

This is a good visual tool to see how everything is going to look before you make the commitment of cutting your paper.
For this card I will be using Card Layout 6 Die.
After die-cutting both pieces of paper with this die, I glued all of the pieces together and placed the card front aside to dry.
Next, I turned my attention to Hula Hoop Newton. I stamped, colored and die-cut my image out.
I am also going to prepare my sentiment which is the “twist” for this card.
This sentiment comes from, of all things, a Christmas die!
I am using the word “JOY” from Christmas Word Trio Die Set re-imagined with summer colors.
To create the sentiment I used sparkly white paper that I had in my stash.

 

For the inlaid letters I used purple polka dot paper from Pastel Basics Paper Pack. I cut out all the pieces for the sentiment and then reassembled everything together.
I started assembling my card by attaching my card front to a matching piece of green card base. I added the sentiment piece I created to the front of the card next with foam tape.
Next on the front of the card was Hula Hoop Newton, this this is attached to the front of the card with foam tape.

For a last touch I dabbed on some Icicle Stickles around the hula hoop for some eye-catching sparkle!

It’s Donna here sharing a cute tulip birthday card.  I am using the Tulips Stamp and die set.  These tulips are perfect for any occasion.  My card today is sending a beautiful birthday wish to a special person.

I stamped the tulips, colored with Olo markers and die cut the image using the coordinating Tulips Die Set.  I then paired it with paper from the Spring Blooms Paper collection for a soft seasonal touch.

 

The design is framed with the elegant Framework Die Set and accented with the Circle Frames Die Set to draw attention to the flowers and sentiment. A banner created with the Banner Duo Die Set adds the perfect finishing detail from the Birthday Roundabout sentiment, making this card ideal for celebrating birthdays with a cheerful spring-inspired style.

Sunshine & Smiles Card by Donna Idlet

Sunshine & Smiles!

Today we are share a beautiful floral card by Donna that features our Floral Delights Stamp Set and Spring Blooms Paper Pad. 

For the main floral image on this card Donna stamped and colored the tall echinacea blooms from the Floral Delights Stamp Set. This fun tall bloom is designed to fit on our Bookmark and Bookmark II die sets but it also works perfectly on a card! She cut the image out using the coordinating Floral Delights Die Set and layered it onto a vellum oval that was die cut using our Oval Frames Die Set.

For her card background she cut strips of patterned papers from our  Spring Blooms Paper Pad and layered them across her card. She then added the vellum oval and flowers over the fun patterned background. For the sentiment she used a little white rectangle cut using our Basic Frames Die Set and stamped the "sunshine & smiles" message onto it.

Peep Peep! Easter Card by Diane Morales

Peep! Peep! 

Easter is nearly here and Newton is ready to celebrate on this adorable card by Diane.

She created this cute little shaped card by cutting a hexagon shaped garden scene using our Hexagon Frames Die Set with our Spring Blooms Paper Pad. 

In front of the tulip garden she added that cute kitty peeking out of an Easter egg with a baby chic on his head from our Newton's Easter Basket Stamp Set.  She added a bit of glitter for some sparkle onto the egg. She also stamped several extra chicks to add to the scene. 

This cute little shaped card would be perfect for tucking into an Easter basket!

Easter Tulip Card by Donna Idlet

Tulips for Easter

It's tulip season and today Donna is inspiring us with a gorgeous tulip card featuring our Tulips Stamp Set and Spring Blooms Paper Pad. 

She colored the pretty bundle of tulips using alcohol markers in shades of pink, purple and yellow to match the tulips on the page of paper from our  Spring Blooms Paper Pad. She layered the tulip image over an oval (using our Oval Frames Die Set) and then added the paper below that.  

For the sentiment she choose "Easter Blessings" from our Easter Lily Stamp Set, stamping it onto a small rounded rectangle that was die cut using our Basic Frames Die Set. 

We love how the tulips coordinatine perfectly with the patterned paper!

Tulips Card by Larissa Heskett

Lovely Tulips to Brighten Your Day!

Brighten someones day by sending them cheerful flowers! Today we are sharing inspiration with a card by Larissa using our Tulips Stamp Set.

Larissa colored the pretty bunch of tulips from our Tulips Stamp Set in sunshiny yellow. Then she framed the tulips with two layers of ovals that were cut out using our Oval Frames Die Set. The yellow polka dot paper is from our Bright Basics Paper Pad.

For the base of her card she used a pretty green gingham from our Spring Blooms Paper Pad. Then she covered it with a clear shaker winder, filled with iridescent sequins. What a fun way to add some sparkle and make the card feel extra special!

Welcome Spring Shaker Card by Donna Idlet

A Sweet Spring Shaker!

Today Donna has created a sweet shaker card that is perfect for celebrating spring!

To create this fun shaker card she began by stamping the big circle filled with little spring icons from our Spring Roundabout Stamp Set. She colored all the cute little images with bright spring colors and then cut the image out using our Circle Frames Die Set. She also used the same die set to cut out the scallop edged circle for the shaker window. She filled the shaker with sequins that matched the spring colors she had used on the images. 

For her card she started with a white card base. Then she cut out the pretty blue gingham pattern from our Spring Blooms Paper Pad using our Frames & Flags Die Set to give it the scalloped edge. For the message she used "Welcome Spring!" from the Spring Roundabout Stamp Set. She embossed the sentiment in black and then die cut it using our Banner Duo Die Set. 

What a fun way to celebrate spring!

Postage Stamp Inspired Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Butterfly Postage Stamps

Today we are sharing a beautiful cad by Ellen, inspired by postage stamps!

She started by cutting out three of the small postage stamp shaped rectangles using our Framework Die Set. She masked off the outer edges and inked the inside areas using various distress inks and added a different pattern to each one using our Tree Rings Stencil, Trailing Leaves Stencil and Petite Paw Prints Stencil. 

She added a postage watermark onto each stamp using our Hare Mail Stamp Set (retiring). Then, she cut out butterflies to match the colors of ink using the butterfly shape from our Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set. She adhered these to each rectangle and added a gemstone the center of each one. 

For her card base she choose a pretty purple floral paper from our Spring Blooms Paper Pad. 

What a beautiful idea and a fun way to send some postage themed happy mail!

Joyful Holiday Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

Joyful Holiday Friends

Today Tatiana has created a beautiful holiday card featuring the forest friends from our Festive Fawns Stamp Set. 

For this fun card she stamped and colored the image of the deer and bunny peeking around the snowman from our Festive Fawns Stamp Set. She used fun pastel colors, giving the snowman an adorable pink hat! Then she cut the image out using the coordinating Festive Fawns Die Set. She then cut a pair of tall thin trees using our Forest Scene Builder Die Set to nestle beside the cute image. She added some ink blending to the trees and a bit of snow too. 

She layered the images onto a tag that was die cut from a pice of light blue gingham paper from our Spring Blooms Paper Pad using our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set. She also added a layer of vellum over the patterned paper to soften the look.  She also added the word "joy" and a few snowflakes, die cut using shapes from our Snow Globe Shaker Die Set.

For her card base, she created a soft and sparkly snow background, using our Snowfall Stencil with a mix of white, clear and teal texture pastes. What a gorgeous effect!

Floral Filled Jars Card Set and Video by Jennifer Jackson

Filling Jars with Flowers! 

Hello! Jen here today and I'm sharing more fun ways to use our Jar Hot Foil Plate! Last week I shared a post where created a card using the jar as a terrarium (you can find that post here if you missed it). Today I'm back to share another awesome way to use the Jar by filling it with flowers! I was having so much fun with this that I created a whole series of cards using various blooms from our floral category. 

First I used our Jar Hot Foil Plate to foil the jar with a silver foil. I then used the coordinating die set (which comes with the plate) to cut it out.  For the first card I chose to use the daisy image from our Dainty Daisies Stamp Set. I added some color to the image using watercolor markers and then cut the image out using the coordinating Dainty Daisies Die Set. 

One I tucked the flowers into the jar I realized the image would be too large for a standard A2 (4.25" x 5.5") sized card so I decided to make an A7 (5" x 7") sized card instead. I cut out a large scallop edged rectangle using our A7 Frames and Banners Die Set. Then I added flowers to this panel using our Petite Flowers Stencil with some yellow and orange inks. 

Next, I decided the jar needed something behind it to frame it so I used our Oval Frames Die Set along with patterned paper from our Spring Blooms Paper Pad and some vellum to create two layers of ovals. 

For a message I added  the sentiment "Bright Birthday Wishes" from our Bright Sentiments Hot Foil Plates.  I foiled this using my hot foil machine with some gold foil and then cut it out using the Banner Duo Die Set. I layered this over the jar to complete this fun card!

Once this card was completed, I decided to create a few more cards using the same layout and different flowers. 

This was made exactly the same as above but uses our Daffodils Stamp Set: 

This one uses our Tulips Stamp Set: 

For this one I switched up the colors to purples and then used our Lilac Stamp Set:

And last, I switched the colors to pinks and used our Roses Stamp Set:

Terrarium Card & Video by Jennifer Jackson

Plant-astic Terrarium!

Hello! Jen here today and I'm sharing a fun card that I created using our newest products together to created a terrarium!

In case you didn't know, I am the owner (with my husband Jeff) of Newton's Nook Designs and I do ALL  design creation for all of our products! When I was designing our new Hot Foil products I wanted to create something fun and shiny and came up with this adorable Jar Hot Foil. We revealed this jar with Fireflies to go inside it but when I was designing it I was also thinking of lots of other uses for the jar! One of the ideas I had was to add in our new Succulent Garden Stamp Set to create a terrarium so that is what I'm sharing with you today! 

If you are a fan of succulents like I am, you know how cute they look in different containers so I thought that filling the jar would be so cute! First I used our Jar Hot Foil Plate to foil the jar with a silver foil. I then used the coordinating die set (which comes with the plate) to cut it out. 

Next, I stamped a bunch of succulents using our Succulent Garden Stamp Set and colored them in shades of teal, green and purple using zig watercolor markers. I cut them all out using the coordinating Succulent Garden Die Set. Then I arranged them inside the foiled jar. Arranging the blooms is half the fun! I also added a bit of teal twine to the mouth of the jar for a fun detail. 

Then I added my jar to a card. The purple floral paper is from our Spring Blooms Paper Pad and I die cut it to give it a scalloped edge using our Frames & Flags Die Set. I used this same die set to cut out the stitched vellum rectangle and the light teal banner. I stamped the sentiment "You're PLANT-astic!" onto the banner and then assembled it all together! I love how this turned out. 

I also made a second version of this card with a video too. For this version I stamped the succulents onto colored paper and added just a touch of color for dimension. So quick and easy!

CatPURRccino Card by Amanda Wilcox

Cat PURR-ccino!

Love coffee and cats? Then you will love this card by Amanda!

This adorable kitty themed card features the image of Newton peeking out of a giant coffee mug from our Newton's Mug Stamp Set. This image has a blank mug but Amanda carefully masked off the edges and stamped the floral image from our Floral Roundabout Stamp Set to cover the mug in a flower pattern! Here's a closer look:

So cool! We love the idea of customizing this mug for any occasion by adding images to the front! She colored the image in fun soft colors and cut it out using the coordinating Newton's Mug Die Set. 

For her card base she used our Frames & Flags Die Set to cut out a piece of floral paper from our Spring Blooms Paper Pad and also a white scalloped frame. She layered these together to make a fun background for the mug. She also added that fun decorative square, cut from vellum, using our  Frames Squared Die Set. Love all the layers! 

To finish off this amazing card she adds the "cat PURR-ccino" sentiment from the Newton's Mug Stamp Set, adding it to the circle from the  Frames Squared Die Set. She also adds a cute clay heart embellishment and some lovely striped twine. 

We hope this project by Amanda has inspired you to look at ways to decorate your stamped images that  have large blank areas to customize your cards! Such a fun idea!
