Have a Cozy Day Card - by November Guest Designer Kelly Latevola

Today we have our first post from our November Guest Designer, Kelly Latevola! We are thrilled to have Kelly designing with our products this month! We adore her card-making style and her use of bright cheerful colors and we can't wait to share what she creates with our stamps! Keep reading to find out more about Kelly today and to check out her first project below!

Hi guys! I'm Kelly Latevola and I'm so excited to be guest designing for Newton's Nook!
Let me tell you a little bit about me :) I was a Police/Fire/Ems dispatcher for a living but have since moved on to working in the Detective Bureau . Which is wonderful and terrible at the same time. I still dispatch part-time because I just missed it too much! I am married to a wonderful man and we have one little bundle of never ending energy, Nathan, who is 4. Nathan's best friend is our dog Molly who is a boxer/mastiff mix. Between the two of them my house is never clean! Gah! My style of card making is pretty Clean and Simple. I sometimes venture into the Clean and Layered but even then my design isn't very busy. I do love a good one layer card, especially if it's a scene! I'm a big fan of encouraging and supporting each other as crafters. I also don't believe in starting a card over. I make videos and you see the good, the bad, and the ugly. Well until we make the ugly pretty because honestly there's a way to fix everything! I frequently post videos on Youtube of my crafting here. If you'd like to check out my blog you can find it here. I'm also on Instagram. My username is Disp6194 and that's also my user name on Twitter.
I'd like to say a huge thank you to Newton's Nook for inviting me to guest with them this month!
Let's get started shall we?

As I was perusing the shop looking to see what I wanted to add to my collection, I stumbled upon A Cozy Day In.
I am a proud book nerd so this immediately became something I needed to own.
Like yesterday.
I knew I wanted to create a scene with it!

I love mixing my old and new stamps. But even more than that I love mixing stamp sets you might not think to pair together.
To create the "wallpaper'" in my scene I masked and used Distress Oxide ink to create a smooth blend from the bottom up. Since most wallpapers have some pattern in them i actually you used the rose stamp from Lovely Blooms to create the pattern. Since the ink blends out softly I used both first, second, and third generation stamping. Each time the impression gets softer and allows for the appearance of a light source coming from the right hand side of the card.

Once my distress oxide was blended on I removed the masks and added my Copic coloring.
You can color this charming image with any medium I'm just partial to Copic markers ðŸ˜Š
I added a shadow under the chair to add to the feel of the over all scene.

I love adding little details to my images to make them my own. The polka dots on the blanket really make it more interesting and set it apart from the purple in the background.
