Glow in the Dark Halloween Card by Larissa Heskett

Halloween Glow in the Dark Card by Larissa Heskett | Ghosts Stencil, Creepy Cameos Stamp Stamp Set, and Framework Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

A Spooky Halloween Greeting!

Today we are sharing a super fun card by Larissa that uses some fun techniques, including glow-in the dark embossing.

For the fun background she used our Ghosts Stencil along with some white flock to create a fun spooky sky. After the flocking was applied she also added some yellow distress ink over parts of the ghosts to add to the spooky feeling! She framed this panel with a fun postage edged frame that was covered in lime green foil and cut out using our Framework Die Set

For the sentiment in the center she used a sentiment from our retiring Creepy Cameos Stamp Set, embossing it with glow in the dark embossing powder! Here is a close up of how it looks in the dark:

Naughty or Mice Card by September Guest Designer Kavya

Naughty or Mice Card by September Guest Designer Kavya | Naughty or Mice Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Hi folks!

I am back at Newton's Nook for my last guest design post for September. I cannot believe how quickly this month flew by! For my last card, I decided to share a technique or rather layout that I enjoy - using large words with stamped images! Newton's Nook makes so many standalone images that are perfect for this technique and I constantly find myself swapping the 'Os' in 'Love', 'OMG" etc with a cute Newton. Here is one that I made a while back:

For a Christmas card, I decided to use some cute christ-mouses from the Naughty or Mice Stamp set along with some large alphabets that read "Fa La La La...". I first started out with a plan to use three mice and the words 'Fa La La' but I quickly realized how big the mice were! So I cut it down to a single 'La' and decided to channel the inner math nerd in me and and add eighth power to 'La'! I think that fixed it? It definitely makes a super cute card for another math nerd! All of the alphabets were cut using my silhouette cameo in 'Rockwell' font. Any large alphabet die works too. The images were colored using alcohol markers and colored pencils. I then finished the card with a sentiment from the same set.

I hope you try this super easy and cute technique for some of your cards. You can use words like Joy, Jolly, Noel, Snow etc. and make the sentiment the focal point of your card along with an adorable stamped image from Newton's Nook!

Thank you so much for having me as your Guest Designer this month! I hope I inspired you in some way.. I definitely had so much fun!

Thanks and Happy Crafting,
-Kavya

Wishing Choo-Choo a Merry Christmas Card by September Guest Designer Kavya

Today we have our first post by our July Guest Designer, Kavya, from Handmade by Kavya! We fell in love with Kavyas projects recently on Instagram! Her cards filled with bright colors and creative layouts made us smile and we can't wait to share what she creates using our products this month! Check back each Monday to see them! Keep reading to find out more about her today and to check out her first project below.

Hi! I am Kavya. I have always been a creative soul but I found my true passion when I discovered stamping and die cutting back in middle school. After a brief hiatus to concentrate on school and college, I just got back into cardmaking late last year in Senior year of college to relax myself and I am so glad I did! I like to try out many different styles and techniques, but my love for flowers and cute critters knows no bounds. I also enjoy experimenting and coming up with unique and unexpected ways to use products in my stash! I am beyond excited to guest design for Newton’s Nook as I am huge fan of their super adorable critters.

Thank you Jennifer and Samantha for the incredible opportunity. I hope I inspire you with my cards this month :)

Wishing Choo-Choo a Merry Christmas Card by September Guest Designer, Handmade by Kavya | All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Hello everyone,

I am excited to be guest designing for Newton's Nook for the month of September! Thank you Samantha for giving me this wonderful opportunity! I have four cards with totally different techniques and styles lined up for you this month! If you have been following me for a while, you would know that I don't have a signature style. I like mixing up things and trying to come up with creative ways to use my stash. I am a huge fan of Newton's Nook products as they are versatile and super cute!

My first card uses some good old distress ink blending scene for Christmas. Here is how I put this together:
  • I distress inked my panel using Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio. I then tried to create a snow texture by adding water and white ink splatters.
Wishing Choo-Choo a Merry Christmas Card by September Guest Designer, Handmade by Kavya | All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

  • I cut the winter scene landscape using my silhouette cameo but you can use a similar die of your choice.
  • I colored the images from All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set using my alcohol ink markers. I like to add darker tones to my images using color pencils later on.
  • After assembling the card, I heat embossed a sentiment on teal cardstock using white embossing powder. (PS: this actually covers up a snafu! I tried embossing directly on to the background but it didn't stand out as much and wasn't aligned properly.)

  • Voila! You are done :)
I hope you liked this card and I can't wait to be back next week to share another style!

Thanks,

Hoppy Spring Card by April Guest Designer Candice Fisher

We are in full happy Springtime mode here and I had to create a card to go along with my happy mood!  This is my final card and thank you for all the love this month and thank you Newton's Nook Designs for having me hang out with you this month!
I know I am not the only one who has fallen in love with the cuties in the Woodland Spring Stamp Set, and again, I couldn’t just pick one from the set (are you noticing a reoccurring trend with me?!)
Hoppy Spring Card by April Guest Designer Candice Fisher | Woodland Spring Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
This card was a pretty quick one, even though it looks very detailed! Bonus! I started this by trimming watercolor paper a little smaller than my card base and inking with squeezed lemonade, worn lipstick, and shaded lilac. I took that inked piece and cut the words out using my cameo silhouette. I then inked another watercolor paper with scattered straw, spun sugar, and milled lavender to go under to words and glued the two together. Next, I splattered with a paint brush with white paint dipped in water. I set it aside to dry.
Hoppy Spring Card by April Guest Designer Candice Fisher | Woodland Spring Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
I stamped the adorable images from Woodland Spring Stamp Set, colored with copic markers, and used the coordinating dies to cut out. The sentiment I stamped on a banner and pop dotted on the card. Next, I added the adorable spring cuties by the words with pop dots.

For the finishing touches, I added the sequins in varying sizes and added some white nuvo drops near the sequins and pearl stickles to the center of the flowers.
I hope you have been inspired by my creations this wonderful spring month and thank you again for the chance to share with you all!

Merci Card by April Guest Designer Candice Fisher

I can’t believe it is week three already!  We are in full Spring here and I am dreaming of Paris with Newton!
I can just image how awesome it is in Paris right now and will live through Newton as he travels there in this bright card!
Merci Card by April Guest Designer Candice Fisher | Newton Dreams of Paris Stamp Set and Bokeh Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Of course to create this fun scene I used the Newton Dreams of Paris Stamp Set. I started by using my cameo to create the three rectangles and then ran it through my die cutting machine to get the stitched frame.  For the background, I trimmed some watercolor paper to fit behind the frame and inked with squeezed lemonade, tumbled glass, and broken china. I then took the circle stencil #1 from the Bokeh Stencil Set and added white ink over for a faint circle impression. I lined up the Eiffel tower and stamped with versafine black ink and added a green stitched hill.
Merci Card by April Guest Designer Candice Fisher | Newton Dreams of Paris Stamp Set and Bokeh Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
I stamped the Paris Newtons, hot air balloon, and clouds, colored with copic markers, and fussy cut out, but you can get the coordinating dies to make your life easier! To create the scene, I added a die cut sun that I inked with squeezed lemonade to the top left. I lined up the frame and stamped the merci directly onto the frame and then pop dotted on the card base. Next, I added the cuties in Paris, gluing and pop dotting to get them secure.

For my embellishments, I added a variety of different sequins and added some white pen dots to the images.
I hope you can each dream of your city that you would love to be in, or if you have any of the Newton's travel stamp sets share your creations on Newton's Nook Design Facebook page!
And you can always check out and join for your chance to win in the Inky Paws Challenge!
I’m off to now dream about England, or maybe Italy…

Newton's Nook Designs & Xyron Inspiration Week | Elegant Card by Jennifer Timko using the Cameo Frame Die Set and Peony Blooms Stamp Set by Newtons Nook Designs with the Xyron Sticker Maker #newtonsnook #xyroninc

For her card, Jennifer used our Cameo Frame Die Set to create a gorgeous focal point. She cut the intricate frame out of a piece of glitter paper and used the 3" Sticker Maker from Xyron to make die cut piece into a sticker. Creating a sticker makes it so easy to attach an intricate piece like this to your card! She then added the "hello" sentiment and the lovely flowers stamping them from our Peony Blooms Stamp Set. Isn't that bloom so lovely on embossed in silver on vellum? She used the Peony Blooms Die Set to trim them out and layered them over the frame with some silver string. She mounted the whole piece onto a silver and white background panel.
