Happy Blooming Birthday!

Today we are sharing a gorgeous birthday creation by Zsofia that is also quick and easy to make!

For this lovely card, she started by cutting out the postage edged panel using our Framework Die Set. She then used our Bold Blooms Stencil to add the pretty floral pattern to the card, using distress inks in shades of pink and yellow, leaving a strip of white across the stencil where she planned to add her sentiment. Before she removed the stencil she also sprayed it with a shimmer spray to add sparkle to the flowers! 

Once the stencil was removed she stamped the sentiment "Happy Blooming Birthday!" from our Loads of Blooms Stamp Set in the white area. Then she added pearl embellishments to the flower centers. The whole panel was mounted on a white card base.

Pretty Peony Card by Farhana Rahman

Friends are Flowers Peony Card!

Today we are sharing a gorgeous spring floral card by Farhana! This amazing floral card features the lovely peony blooms from our Peony Blooms Stamp Set. She embossed the two of the flower images with gold embossing powder and then colored the blooms in gorgeous hues of pink. She fussy cut her blooms out by hand but if you don't like to hand cut, you could use the coordinating Peony Blooms Die Set instead. 

For the card base, she embossed a lovely floral background by using our Bold Blooms Stencil and passing it through her die cutting platform to create a dry embossed background texture. Then she layered the lovely colored blooms onto the lower corner using dimensional adhesives. She also added the sentiment, embossed in gold from our Blooming Botanicals Stamp Set. The black banner was die cut using a banner from our Frames & Flags Die Set and perfectly frames the sentiment. 

What a gorgeous combination of products!

Mother's Day Card Duo by May Guest Designer Anika Mercier

I am so excited and very honored to be guest designing for Newton's Nook Designs this month. Thank you so much, Jennifer and Samantha, for this wonderful opportunity! I'm looking forward to sharing a new project with all of you each Monday in May. I hope you all enjoy the cards I will be sharing and they inspire you to make some of your own! 

For my first guest designer blog post, I thought it would be fun to share not one but two Mother's Day cards featuring the new and super pretty Mother's Day stamp set.

Card One

For my first card, I wanted to create a soft and elegant Mother's Day card. 

Background

When I saw the Mother's Day stamp set I knew I wanted to pair it with the beautiful Bold Blooms Stencil. So, I started by blending a light layer of Milled Lavender Distress Oxide ink over my entire background panel. Next, I taped the stencil down and applied a layer of Mother of Pearl Nuvo Mousse over the ink blended background. When I pulled back the stencil I was so excited to see how lovely this combination of products turned out! It's always so nice when ideas turn out how you envisioned. 

Sentiment 

To continue the soft/ feminine theme I stamped and gold heat embossed the Mother's Day stamp onto a piece of vellum. Then I flipped the vellum over (backside up) and colored the flowers and greenery using Copic markers. 

Finishing Touches

After wrapping the vellum around the card panel I added a few gold sequins around the sentiment which also allowed me to add dabs of glue to the vellum to help hold it in place. 

Card Two

In contrast to my first card, I wanted this Mother's Day card to be bold and dramatic.  

Design Panel

I started by stamping several images from the Peony Blooms stamp set onto the design panel and then apply silver embossing powder. When two images overlapped I carefully removed the embossing powered with a small paintbrush before heat setting. This method of embossing allows you to skip masking your images. 

After all the flowers and leaves were heat set I colored them using Polychromos Colour Pencils. I used two shades of pink, two shades of green, one red, and the white color pencil. I started by adding a light layer of white at the base of each petal and then added pink/red over it extending the color to the top of the petals. I did this process twice for each flower and leaf to build up the color slowing. 

Sentiment 

For this card, I wanted to use the Mother's Day stamp but I didn't want the floral images since I felt the style was a little too different from the flowers on the design panel. So, I masked the flowers by placing washi tape over them, applying VersaMark ink over the entire stamp, and then removing the washi tape before stamping onto my cardstock. 

However, after stamping and heat embossing the sentiment I felt it needed a few images surrounding it so I stamped a portion of the main flower cluster from the Peony Blooms set onto the sentiment panel and then heat embossed and colored the images. 

Finishing Touches

I wanted to add a bit more sparkle to this card so I splattered Silver Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic Ink over the design panel. Once dry I trimmed the right side of the design panel down and added a thin line of silver glitter paper to the right edge. Lastly, I popped up the sentiment by stacking the three die cut panels together.

April Reveals - Day 4 - Newton's Birdhouse + Mother's Day and Father's Day!

This adorable scene was created by Maria featuring the kitty and birdhouse from our new Newton's Birdhouse Stamp Set! She colored the image with fun colors and added cute stripes to the kitty. Then she created a scene for the image, adding layers of grass using our Land Borders Die Set and a fence using our new Fence Die Set. She added another birdie on the fence and a larger one in the sky from our Newton's Birdbath Stamp Set. So cute!

Amanda created this gorgeous card for mom using our new Mother's Day Stamp Set. She colored the image and surrounded it with little flowers cut out using our Flower Trio Die Sett. She also added a scallop on top and bottom using our Sky Borders Die Set. She created a lovely grey woodgrain background using our new Hardwood Stencil. 

Naki created this adorable kitty scene featuring the kitty and birdhouse from our new Newton's Birdhouse Stamp Set. She stamped the image with light colored ink and colored the image with soft colors and edges. For the scene she added layers of grass using our Land Borders Die Set and added in a fence using our Fence Die Set. The background is a gorgeous blend of distress inks!

Any mom would fall in love with this gorgeous card by Larissa! She used our new Mother's Day Stamp Set combined with the typewriter image from My Type Stamp Set to create a stunning combination. She also added a few extra flowers around the typewriter using stamps from our Lovely Blooms Stamp Set,  Bunny Hop Stamp Set, and Woodland Spring Stamp Set along with their coordinating dies. The beautiful image was framed with a scallop edged frame cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set.  

This card by Andrea is perfect for any dad who likes the outdoors! She created a gorgeous outdoor scene using our Forest Scene Builder Die Set, Sea Borders Die Set and Land Borders Die Set. She added fun hand colored details to the die cuts to give them depth. The scene perfectly frames the fun image in the sky from our new Father's Day Stamp Set. 

Newton is collecting lots of birds near his birdhouse on this adorable card by Zsofia. She featured the image from our new Newton's Birdhouse Stamp Set and added several more little black birds to the sky around the house. She also added a strip of blue woodgrain pattern behind the image using our new Hardwood Stencil! Such an adorable card! 

Samantha created two gorgeous cards, perfect for Mom and Dad! For Mom, she layered two backgrounds created with our Bold Blooms Stencil and Hardwood Stencil. She cut the floral image out using our Frames Squared Die Set. Then she added the sentiment from our new Mother's Day Stamp Set on a layer of vellum. For Dad she created layers using our Hardwood Stencil and Plaid Stencil Set. She also used our Framework Die Set to cut out the plaid. Again she added the sentiment, this time from the Father's Day Stamp Set on a layer of vellum! 

Holly created this adorable kitty card using the Newton's Birdhouse Stamp Set. She colored the image adding awesome texture and patterns on the kitty and birdhouse! Then she paired the image with lovely bright patterned papers! So adorable!

Welcome Spring Card with Video by Tatiana Trafimovich

Welcome Spring!

Who's ready for Spring! We are certainly hoping for warmer weather here soon! Until then, we can enjoy this lovely spring card by Tatiana! For her card today she featured the adorable little lamb from our Woodland Spring Stamp Set. She colored this cutie using copic markers, adding a fun dotted texture! Then she cut the image out using the coordinating Woodland Spring Die Set to add to her card. She mounted it on a circle and added the "Welcome Spring" sentiment above the image and added the lovely flower border image from the set below it!

For the card background she used our Bold Blooms Stencil with some embossing paste to create a fun floral texture!

Maria created this adorable card filled with sweet spring pastels! She started with a colorful background created with our Bokeh Stencil Set and then layered a lovely spring scene over the top. She used the cute deer from our new Woodland Spring Stamp Set and included some trees using our Forest Scene Builder Die Set and a hill using our Land Borders Die Set.

Zsofia created an adorable trio of Easter friends using the bunny, fox and lamb from the new Woodland Spring Stamp Set. She colored them in bright colors and added them in a row onto her card. She added a fun pink scalloped edge using our Sky Borders Die Set and the "Happy Easter" die cut is a peek from a set that will be revealed later this week! 

This darling deer card by Samantha is perfect for sending wishes to a friend. She colored the sweet deer image from our new Woodland Spring Stamp Set and added him to her card over a lovely distress ink background. She also added some embossed flowers in the lower corner using our Bold Blooms Stencil and embellished the image with even more flowers from the Woodland Spring Stamp Set.

Larissa created this sweet birthday card using three of the adorable animals from our new Woodland Spring Stamp Set. She colored them in vibrant colors and added them onto her card, layering them over some grass that was added in using our Land Borders Die Set. She also added an edge of flowers above and below them using the floral image from the Woodland Spring Stamp Set. She finished out the card with the sentiment from the Loads of Blooms Stamp Set.

Spring couldn't get any sweeter than this charming card by Ellen. She created a cute scene inside an oval shape featuring the deer image from our new Woodland Spring Stamp Set. She added some grass using our Land Borders Die Set and some extra flowers along the bottom too. For her background she used our new Bold Blooms Stencil with white embossing paste and added a scalloped edge using our Frames & Flags Die Set. 

This card by Naki is perfectly pretty in pastels that are just right for Spring! She used the fox and bunny from our new Woodland Spring Stamp Set, coloring them with no line coloring and soft colors. She also added in some additional flower springs around them to make it even cozier! For her background she used our new Bokeh Stencil Set to add soft bubbles. 

The cute critters in our new Woodland Spring Stamp Set are so perfect for creating scenes. Andrea created this adorable setting for the bunny and deer using our Land Borders Die Set and distress inks! So simple and pretty. The animals and flowers really pop off those grassy hills!

Tatiana also created a sweet forest scene for her spring card today. She used the deer and bunny images from our new Woodland Spring Stamp Set, coloring them in soft pastels. Then she created a lovely setting for them using our Land Borders Die Set to create hills and added in some trees using our Forest Scene Builder Die Set. It's so cute how she added stamped flowers into the trees too!
