A Little Note...

Today we are sharing a sweet little note card created by Tatiana. This cute little scene filled with mice and flowers is perfect for sending a cheerful spring wish to a friend.

She started out by stamping and coloring the duo of mice holding flowers from our Garden Mice Stamp Set. She colored the mice in neutral grays and then added bright pops of orange and purple for the big blooms. She also added highlights with a white gel pen for added detail. She cut the two images out using the coordinating Garden Mice Die Set

For her card, she created a fun background scene onto a white card base. She added green grass using our Hills & Grass Stencil along the bottom and then added blue ink for a sky along the top. She then added a few clouds into the sky using our Cloudy Sky Stencil with a bit of white pigment ink. This is such a fun and easy way to make a background scene.

Next, she cut out the fun stitched frame using our Frames & Tags Die Set. She then arranged the frame over the background and tucked the mice into it on opposite sides. Isn't it cute how the mouse is peeking down from the top corner? She added the sentiment "just a little note..." from the Garden Mice Stamp Set, embossed in white onto a purple banner. She also added a few epoxy dots in orange and purple for a finishing detail.

Stenciled Gift Bags by Ellen Haxelmans | Argyle and Plaid Stencil Sets, Frames & Tags Die Set, Snow Globe Shaker and Pawprint Shaker Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Use Stencils to Dress up a Small Gift!

Want a way to make a small gift seem extra special? Ellen shares how you can dress up the packaging using stencils and die cuts!

She started out by creating stenciling patterns onto two small flat gift bags. She created one with a cat birthday theme and one with a holiday theme.

Let's look at the cat themed bag first:

Stenciled Gift Bags by Ellen Haxelmans | Argyle and Plaid Stencil Sets, Frames & Tags Die Set, Snow Globe Shaker and Pawprint Shaker Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

For this fun bag she used our  Plaid Stencil Set to add a fun teal and pink pattern. This stencil is two pieces and has etching each piece to help you align the pattern so it's easy to add two fun colors. Next she used the small tags from our new Frames & Tags Die Set to cut out two little tags from light pink and teal papers. She added the kitty face from our Pawprint Shaker Die Set and the word "wish" from our Balloon Shaker Die Set. So cute!

Next, let's look at the holiday version:

Stenciled Gift Bags by Ellen Haxelmans | Argyle and Plaid Stencil Sets, Frames & Tags Die Set, Snow Globe Shaker and Pawprint Shaker Die Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

This time she used our Argyle Stencil Set to add a red and green argyle pattern to her bag. Again, this stencil is two pieces with etching and makes a quick and easy two color pattern. For the tags on this gift she again used our new Frames & Tags Die Set to cut out two little tags, this time from from red and green papers. Then she added the snowflake and word "joy" using from our Snow Globe Shaker Die Set

These cute little gift bags would be perfect for sharing a special cookie treat or little gift. We love how easy it is to create them for different occasions just by mixing up the patterns and colors!

Thinking of You Card by Amanda Wilcox

Thinking of You Card by Amanda Wilcox | Floral Roundabout Stamp Set, Circle Frames Die Set, A2 Card Layout Die Set, Banner Trio Die Set and Trailing Leaves Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Thinking of You!

Have you ever colored on vellum? Today Amanda has created a beautiful floral card using vellum that is perfect for sending thoughtful wishes.

She started our be stamping the large circle image filled with flowers using our Floral Roundabout Stamp Set onto a piece of vellum. She used Versamark ink and embossed the image in white. To emboss on vellum, just make sure you have a thick weight vellum paper. She cut the image out using the Circle Frames Die Set to give it the fun scalloped edge. Then she colroed the florals using copic markers. A tip from Amanda for coloring vellum is to choose a much darker, deeper color than you're looking for because the vellum lightens it considerably.

Isn't it gorgeous? Here is a close-up:
Thinking of You Card by Amanda Wilcox | Floral Roundabout Stamp Set, Circle Frames Die Set, A2 Card Layout Die Set, Banner Trio Die Set and Trailing Leaves Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

For her card, she started with a white card base and inked green leaves onto it using our Trailing Leaves Stencil. The leaves coordinate perfectly with the florals for a fun nature theme. Next, she used our A2 Card Layout Die Set with kraft colored cardstock to cut out the fun panels. She added some ink to the edges to give them a bit of dimension. Then she layered the vellum image on top. The finishing touch is the sentiment from our Floral Roundabout Stamp Set, which she embossed in white onto a banner that was cut out using our Banner Trio Die Set. The bright pink paper she used for the banner really makes it pop off the card!

Nine Lives & How to Spend Them Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Newton's Reading List Stamp Set, Bookmark II Die Set, Cat Silhouettes Die Set, Frames & Tags Die Set, Coffee Silhouettes Die Set and Forest Scene Builder Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Create a Scene with Die Cuts!

Most of us make cards with stamping as the main focus, but creating a card with mostly die cutting is a very fun and creative way to create a card with a twist! Today we are sharing a card by Ellen has created using several of our favorite die sets to inspire you!

Ellen started by die cutting the stitched rectangle using our Basic Frames Die Set. This will be the panel for her scene. She inks up the panel in warm orange and yellow distress inks and adds a bit of splatter to make it into a stunning sunset or sunrise sky. Next, she cuts a piece for the ground using our Land Borders Die Set, inking it up with shades of brown and adding lots of splatter for texture.

Once she has her setting in place, she adds a stack of books to the center of the scene using the book images that come with our Bookmark II Die Set. She uses our Forest Scene Builder Die Set to add the trees, leaves and the little bird that is perched on the speech bubble.  The little hearts and speech bubble is from the Speech Bubbles Die Set. Inside the speech bubble she embossed a message from our Newton's Reading List Stamp Set. This sentiment works perfectly with the theme of the card! So fun!

Then she adds a cat using our Cat Silhouettes Die Set and a the warm cup of cocoa or coffee from the Coffee Silhouettes Die Set.  To finish the scene she frames it with a soft pink zig zag edged frame, die cut using our Frames & Tags Die Set.
