Retiring Products Feature Week - Day 5 - Larissa & Tatiana

We hope you have  been enjoying the projects our Design Team has been featuring all week with our retiring products! Today is the last day and we are featuring projects by Larissa and Tatiana

First, we have a stunning card and envelope combo by Larissa:

This card and envelope set by Larissa is perfect for sending a special wish to a newlywed couple! She created this set using our retiring Wedding Frills Stamp Set. For the card she used the lacy floral images to create a cluster of elegant flowers, perfect for a wedding wish. She added the medallion shape with the sentiment stamped into the center, embossed in black with added sparkly accents. The images were all cut out using the retiring Wedding Frills Die Set. In the background she added some lovely blue ink and paint splatters and then framed the panel with a scalloped edge using our Frames & Flags Die Set. For the Envelope she added a gorgeous seal, again using the medallion image from the retiring Wedding Frills Stamp Set, this time adding a different sentiment into the center and added colors and sparkle to the image. This card is just right for a special couple on their wedding day but you could do something similar for an anniversary greeting with this set too!

Next, we are celebrating Spring with this sweet floral basket card by Tatiana:

Tatiana created an adorable mini spring scene featuring the image of the basket of flowers from the retiring Basket of Wishes Stamp Set. She colored the image fun bright spring colors and fussy cut it out by hand. She also stamped the tiny bird from the set and colored and cut it out three times. To create the cute little scene she cut out a circle and added clouds to the top using our Clouds Stencil with blue ink. She added layers of grass to the bottom using our Land Borders Die Set. This sweet card is perfect for celebrating the upcoming season of Spring!

Hello Friend Card by April Guest Designer Kaja Vezenšek

Hello there!
It's Kaja from Kajcyika crafts! I am back with a new card as a April guest designer here at Newton's nook blog.

For today I made a cute and quick spring card. I used brand new Sky borders die set along with a Baskets of wishes stamps.

Take a look of what I have created:

As promised, I have a video tutorial for you. So take a look! :)

I started by stamping all the images on my Derwent watercolor paper and then I colored my images with ZIG markers. I fussy cut them out and then it was time to make our little scene. I used a light blue card stock for my base and I added a hill using a patterned paper which I cut with my scissors. I also wanted to add clouds, that's why I diecutted them with Sky borders die set from white paper.

The last thing to make before positioning was to stamp the sentiment. I helped myself with Misti, since I didn't want to risk ruining my cloud piece. I glued everything together with double sided tape and foam rectangles.

To finish the card off I added some stitching details with my white gel pen and I also used my Wink of Stella marker to make the flowers a bit more interesting.

Inky Paws #19 Favorites

Since there were so many beautiful heart cards, we chose THREE more as our favorite picks! If you see your card below, contact us if you'd like to get a "favorite" badge for your blog!

This adorable card by Melissa made us smile - we love how the pig is flipping across that fun watercolor background! So Adorable! The stamps she used are from the Farmyard Friends stamp set. 

We love the "spotlight" technique that Anja did on her card - using grays for most of the card and then spotlighting with bright colors inside the heart! What a fun idea!! She used the Just say Cheese and Newton's Antics stamp sets to create this card. 

This card by Vicki is also has some really fun watercoloring going on - we loved that background with the layers and splotches of watercolor! She used our cute little birdie stamp set - Tweet Talk.

Think Spring Card by Samantha Mann

Think Spring Kitty Card

Awww - isn't this kitty card by Samantha Mann super cute? I love how she created a wreath made of little flowers around the kitty's head! It looks like a she dressed Newton with a lion mane for spring! This is such a fun idea - It reminds me of the saying "in like a lion, out like a lamb" for March. 

Samantha used a ton of little sets for this - can you spot them? She used Newton's Daydream, Newton's Antics, Basket of Wishes, Bunny Hop, Easter Scramble, Hanging Around and Love Grows! Wow - that's a ton of sets to create all those fun little flowers!!

Hopefully this sweet card will bring on spring (we had snow here in the Midwest yesterday-ugh)! Meanwhile, you can pop over to Samantha's Blog, Sam's Scrap Candy, and say hello :)

Hot Air Balloon Card by Larissa Heskett

Sending Love with cute critters!

Today I'm sharing an sweet kitty card by Larissa using the Newton Dreams of Paris stamp set. I just can't get enough of this cute hot air balloon stamp set. It's super fun to color but I love that for this card Larissa did something a bit different and paper-pierced parts of the balloon! I love that fun printed paper she used. Then she colored the kitty with some fun texture and added some google eyes too! Doesn't he look a bit like he's surprised to be up in the air? So adorable! The layers of clouds on vellum behind the tag are so pretty! To finish off this card, Larissa also added the little "hello friend" sentiment from the Basket of Wishes stamp set.

Spring Basket Cards

Keep Thinking Spring!

It's been so cold lately in Wisconsin I've been dreaming for spring to arrive! So today I'm sharing two fun spring cards using the Basket of Wishes stamp set. 

I thought this cute little card would be perfect to inspire everyone to "Think Spring!" I stamped the basket and the top with the gardening tools using archival black ink on watercolor paper. I also added on the cute little birdie and the music notes in black. The I colored the whole thing with distress markers and a watercolor water brush.

To finish out the card I added the "hello friend" sentiment in orange ink and added some patterned papers from my scraps along with some twine and a little flower button.

The second card would be perfect for a spring wedding! I stamped the basket from the same Basket of Wishes set - but this time I used the top with the champagne glasses in it and I stamped it with Versamark ink on Vellum and embossed it with white embossing powder. I colored the basket on the backside of the image using copic markers.

To make the card, I spritzed some gold ink on my card base and then added the image onto it with gold striped washi tape. I also added some gold and cream bakers twine. The sentiment "congrats on your wedding day" is made up using words from the Simply Sentimental stamp set.

Keep thinking spring! I know it will be here very soon!

Happy New Year Card with Kitty!

Today I'm sharing this fun card by Samantha Mann just in time for the New Year! Are you ready for the new year yet? There's only a couple days left in 2014! Samantha used the image of the fun basket of champagne from the Basket of Wishes stamp set  - which is just perfect for a New Years card! She also snuck in a cute kitty - from the Hanging Around stamp set, peeking off the card edge - ADORABLE! I also love the bright colors and star background! What a fun way to celebrate the new year!

Today I get to share some sweet easter tags and basket by Design Team Member Larissa Heskett! Get Well Kitty Card by Guest Designer Katie Brooks!

Sweet Kitty Card!

What a beautiful card by our Guest Designer, Katie Brooks! Katie used FOUR different NND sets to create this adorable little scene! She used the kitty from the Newton's Holiday Mischief set (masking out the lights), the little flower from the Basket of Wishes set, clouds from the Winged Wishes set and the "get well soon" from the new Spring Showers set! I love the bright cheerful colors that she used to create the sunny scene - and even a sun-shaped button! So adorable! This would definitely cheer anyone up!
