The Grass is Greener Card by March Guest Designer Eloise Blue

Hello everyone! Eloise here for my second card as Guest Designer for Newton's Nook. Today I'm using the Garden Whimsy stamp set to create a circle garden themed card.

To being my card today I stamped out my images from the Garden Whimsy stamp set onto some white cardstock and coloured them in with my Copic markers. Once they were coloured I fussy cut them out with my scissors. I used the trick again of running them through my Big Shot Machine to make them nice and flat. I set them aside and worked on my background.

For my background, I wanted to use the little fence stamp that came in the set. So I went ahead and stamped it many times across some white cardstock, butting it up next to each other every time I stamped it. Since I wanted to colour over it, I also stamped each piece on masking paper too, until I had enough to cover them all. I used my craft knife to cut out all the masks and then placed them on top of my stamped fence. I used Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress Ink for the sky, and blended that in an upside down ombre effect, then used Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn for the grass, ink blending that in the same way, but in the proper ombre effect way. Once my background was coloured, I removed the masks and used some light grey Copic markers and coloured in the fence.

Once my card was ready to assemble, I took some circle dies and die cut the front panel, which had my fence and background coloured on it and another circle as well, just out of plain white. I then took the back circle and scored about half an inch of the top of the circle, added some adhesive and adhered it to the top of the back of my front circle, the one with the design on it. That creates my circle card. To make it stand better, I also cut off a little on the back circle at the bottom, to make it have a flat bottom and when the card is standing, you don't notice the flat bit at the back either.

Now the card base is complete, I then went ahead and stamped the sentiment 'the grass is greener wherever you are' sentiment from the same stamp set on the top of my background piece with some black ink. I then went ahead and used foam tape to adhered down my images to give them some dimension.

I felt like my card was missing something so I went ahead and die cut a circle frame from some white cardstock, too. You could use normal circle dies to create a frame, I just had a frame die already done.  I then adhered that with foam adhesive around the outside of my card too with foam tape and that finished up my card.

I hope you enjoyed my card today, I love creating shaped cards, they're a lot of fun!

I'll be back next Monday for another card.
