Hello Everyone! I have a fun summer inspired card for you today! Here in New England we sort of skipped spring and went right to summer. That is OK for this beach loving girl! Last weekend my boyfriend and I spent some time in Newport RI and we sat outside as much as possible, just soaking it all in. Being by the water again and feeling the sunshine on my face definitely inspired this card using Newton's Summer Vacation.

For this card I started with a sheet of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink and started to create the sandy background. I took a wet brush and laid down water then touched a brush with Vintage Photo Ink into the water. I let the ink move around the wet areas, and then heat set it. I continued this process to create the layers of sand. I did the same thing for the ocean using Mermaid Lagoon which is new Distress Ink.

I die-cut out a stitched circle and repeated the process so it will blend into the background. I stamped sunbathing Newton onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock and using Watercolor Pencils colored him to look like my kitty Mister Harley. Man, Mister Harley has never looked so cool with his shades and all! Ha! I stamped the sand pail and watercolored it as well. I then fussy cut out the images and pieces the card together.

For the sentiment I stamped "relax" in Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink and gently brushed a waterbrush over it, to soften it a bit. I created the pennent banner and then using my quickie glue pen added some ulatrafine crystal glitter all over. This may be a bit too much glitter, but my motto is there is never enough glitter ;) . To finish off the card I added a generous amount of glossy accents to Mister Harley's sunglasses.

I hope you enjoyed this card and wherever you live the weather has been as beautiful as it has been here in New England! Thank you Jen for inviting me to Guest Design for Newton's Nook, this month has been wicked fun!
