Feline Batty Card by Amy Tsuruta

Feline Batty Card by Amy Tsuruta | Batty Newton Stamp Set, Spooky Roundabout Stamp Set and Spiderweb Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Feline Batty!

Today we are getting in the mood for Halloween with this card by Amy! She combined several of our newest Halloween products to create this adorable card!

The sweet kitty in the bat costume from our Batty Newton Stamp Set takes center stage. She colored the image in neutral tones with fun purple bat wings! This image was cut out using the coordinating Batty Newton Die Set to layer onto her card. Behind the batty kitty, she used the big circle of Halloween creatures from our Spooky Roundabout Stamp Set. She colored this image using a palette of soft Halloween colors and a minty green background! So lovely! The image and the scalloped circle frame were cut out using the  Circle Frames Die Set

For a final, spooky finishing touch, she added a soft spiderweb to the background using our Spiderweb Stencil and the sentiment "feline batty" onto the ticket shape from our Framework Die Set. All these elements combine perfectly for a fun and spooky Halloween creation!

Grateful Fall Roundabout Card by Zsofia Molnar | Fall Roundabout Stamp Set, Circle Frames Die Set and Hardwood Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs

Grateful Fall Card

Today we are sharing a lovely fall card by Zsofia, perfect for the changing of season. This card features the big round image of flowers from our Fall Roundabout Stamp Set.  The image was colored with copic markers in a gorgeous fall color palette. The purple scalloped circle behind the image was cut out using the Circle Frames Die Set. For the sentiment, she chose the "Grateful for you" sentiment, also from the Fall Roundabout Stamp Set, and embossed it using metallic embossing powder. She layered it over the center of the image on a white stripe and added a yellow stripe behind it. For a bit of texture, she added white texture paste to the background of the card using our Hardwood Stencil

Here is a close-up so you can see the lovely coloring and texture:

New Job Card by Ellen Haxelmans

New Job Card and Gift by Ellen Haxelmans | Newtons Graduation Stamp Set, Essential Alphabet Die, Houndstooth Stencil & more by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

New Job Card!

Today Ellen has created a beautiful card for someone who just started a new job, complete with a little treat too!

She started by coloring the kitty with the globe from our Newton's Graduation Stamp Set. Along with this image she added the stack s of books from the Classy Teachers Stamp Set and the single book and mug from the Sips & Stories Stamp Set. These images were all cut out using their coordinating die sets and added over a circle that was created using our Circle Frames Die Set

For the custom sentiment, she used the word "new" from our Loveable Laundry Stamp Set and paired with with letters cut out using our Essential Alphabet Die Set to spell "job". These words were added onto a blue banner that was cut out using our Banner Trio Die Set

For a bit of sparkle she created a lovely background using our Houndstooth Stencil with sparkly texture gel.

Tips on creating this card

Below we have some tips from Ellen on how this card was created:

New Job Card and Gift by Ellen Haxelmans | Newtons Graduation Stamp Set, Essential Alphabet Die, Houndstooth Stencil & more by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  1. (left photo) I know someone who just got a job in a university, so searched for all things that could fit the theme of the card (Books, coffee…). Then I colored it with my Copic markers.
  2. (center photo) When you want a specific sentiment it’s so easy to use the alphabet dies. Suddenly I remembered the word ‘new’ was in the Loveable Laundry baby set and that made a perfect match with the word ‘job’, which was cut out using the Essential Alphabet Die Set.
  3. (right photo) The card base was created with the Houndstooth Stencil and Red Velvet Glitz Glitter Gel. For the circle I blended blue distress ink and splattered water on top.

Bonus treat!

To go with this card, Ellen also embellished a cute little apple shaped treat container! She used the same sheet that was patterned with our Houndstooth Stencil and red glitter paste and cut out a tiny tag using our Tags Times Two Die Set. She added "mew did it" from the Newton's Graduation Stamp Set and a little apple from the Classy Teachers Stamp Set! How adorable!!

Being a Unicorn Card by September Guest Designer Kavya

Being a Unicorn Card by September Guest Designer Kavya Nagalakunta | Believe in Unicorns Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Hi folks,

I am excited to be back on the Newton's Nook blog with my second guest design post for the month. This time, I have a super cute ink blended CAS card to share. The beauty of this layout is that this can be used with most of Newton's Nook stamp sets with stand-alone images! This is my go-to technique if I want to whip up a quick card for any occasion. So, let's get started!
  • Firstly, use some purple tape (or any tape of your choice) to mask the center portion of the panel. You can definitely get creative and try out other orientations like a diagonal, last 1/3rd of the panel, etc. You are the artist!
  • I then used hybrid inks in three colors - baby pink, pineapple, and baby blue - to ink blend the center portion.
  • I colored the unicorn and a few other elements from the Believe in Unicorns Stamp Set using alcohol ink markers and colored pencils.
  • I then heat embossed the sentiment using white embossing ink and finished off the card using some clear sequins.

Isn't that simple? I hope you liked this quick mini-tutorial. See you all next week!
Thanks,

Thinking of You Card by Larissa Heskett

Thinking of You Card by Larissa Heskett | Hummingbird Stamp Set, Floral Roundabout Stamp Set and Circle Frames Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Thinking of You!

Today are are sharing a gorgeous card by Larissa that is perfect for letting someone know they are in your thoughts! She features the image of the lovely hummingbird from our Hummingbird Stamp Set, coloring it in gorgeous green and pink hues. Her coloring technique of adding tiny dots really adds a ton of detail and dimension to her image! So gorgeous! She also colored the flowers from the Hummingbird Stamp Set, perfect for the bird to flutter over.

Here's a close up of her amazing coloring:

She added the images over a blue inked circle sky, cutting them out using the coordinating Hummingbird Die Set. She also adds the sentiment "Thinking of you" from the Floral Roundabout Stamp Set three times around the circle edge. Although the sentiment comes as a straight edge, you can easily create a curve with it onto your stamping block! That is one great thing about photopolymer stamps. She adds a teal scalloped circle frame using our Circle Frames Die Set.

For the card background she adds a subtle pattern of flowers using the large image from the Floral Roundabout Stamp Set. She also stamps this image across the flap of the coordinating envelope for a  lovely finishing touch!

Cat in Box Scrapbook Layout by Samantha Mann

Cat in Box Scrapbook Layout by Samantha Mann | Newton Loves Boxes Stamp Set, Newton's Antics Stamp Set and Meow Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Cats & Boxes!

Today we sharing an amazing scrapbook page by Samantha that any cat owner will appreciate! For this gorgeous page, she used our Meow Stencil along the edges of the layout and on the right side where she planned to add the photo, with white texture paste. Once the paste was dry she added watercolors in pinks, reds, oranges and yellows on top. This frames the photo and the page perfectly and is such a beautiful effect! She also added the images of the kitty in a box, just like the kitty in the photo, from our Newton Loves Boxes Stamp Set and from our Newton's Antics Stamp Set. Adorable!

Here is a close up so you can see the texture:
