Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

It's our 4th Annual Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

The Newton's Nook Designs Team is hopping along today to share some great Sweet Treats - just in time for Valentines day! Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the whole list and hop along and comment for a chance to win!

For my stop on this hop I created these fun treat holders:

Valentine Treat holders by Jennifer Jackson | Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Fancy Edges Tag Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
I used the tag die cut from the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set set along with the Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Sending Hugs Die Set create these holders.

Here's the pieces you need to create each treat holder:

Valentine Treat holders by Jennifer Jackson | Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Fancy Edges Tag Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

You will need  two pink tags and then a piece of cardstock that is the same width as the tags (about 2 3/8") and about 2" tall. This piece will create a hinge at the bottom. Score the small piece 3/4" in from each end. You fold it up to create a U shape and add adhesive to each flap that is folded up and adhere it to the tag. You will can also cut a tag from pattern paper and one from white to decorate the front. I used the scallop edge mini border that is part of the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set to create those fun edges and layered them over the front of the treat holder. I stamped "Happy Valentine's Day" in the pink area at the bottom of the front from the Love Bites Stamp Set.

For the inside you can add any little treat. For mine I put some conversation hearts into a cello bag and adhered it to the back tag. Then I folded all up and add a ribbon to close it!

To decorate the front, I colored the cat and dog from the Sending Hugs Stamp Set and colored them with copic markers. I also colored an envelope and ice cream from this set. Then trimmed them all out using the coordinating Sending Hugs Die Set. This die is SO COOL because it cuts around the arms so you can insert all those cute little accessories inside them to hold!

I had so much fun playing with this set I decided to try another quick treat holder:

This time I colored the owl, bear and two hearts from the Sending Hugs Stamp Set with copic markers. I cut them out using the coordinating Sending Hugs Die Set and inserted the hearts into their arms. I created little treat toppers using a piece of red cardstock folded in half. On the front half I used the Sky Borders Die Set to create a fun scalloped bottom edge and then put the piece over a cellophane bag filled with candy hearts. I added the sentiments "love" and "hugs" from the Sending Hugs Stamp Set onto little kraft colored banners cut out using the banner shape from the Frames & Flags Die Set. These are so quick and easy to make and look adorable!

Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Today I'm playing along with the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog hop!

There are going to be TONS of fun prizes too -
including a $25 store credit from us at Newton's Nook Designs!
You can head over to the Coffee Lovers Blog for more details on how to play along!

Here's what I created:
Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! Coffee Card by Jennifer Jackson | Sending Hugs and Newton Lvoes Coffee Stamp Sets and Framework Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
I pulled out our Sending Hugs Stamp Set and stamped the kitty and coffee mug onto watercolor paper. I used Zig Watercolor Markers to color the kitty and the mug and then cut them out with the coordinating Sending Hugs Die Set! This die set is super fun because it also cuts around the arms of the animals which makes it easy for them to hold the fun accessories in the set. This set includes a few different items for them to hold but I stuck with the coffee for today's post!
Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! Coffee Card by Jennifer Jackson | Sending Hugs and Newton Lvoes Coffee Stamp Sets and Framework Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Behind the Kitty is a scallop edge rectangle that I cut out using our new Framework Die Set. I splashed some pink and brown watercolor on it to match the kitty and coffee. For the sentiment, I used "I need some coffee right MEOW" from our Newton Loves Coffee Stamp Set. I stamped it onto a black ticked shape, also cut out from using the ticket from the Framework Die Set. For the background panel I stamped coffee beans from the Newton Loves Coffee Stamp Set over a panel of kraft colored cardstock. I mounted the whole design onto a pink cardstock base.

While I was coloring I couldn't resist also coloring the bear and owl from the Sending Hugs Stamp Set so I created a second card using the same layout and elements but featured those two cuties instead. Again, the sentiment  and coffee bean background images are from the Newton Loves Coffee Stamp Set. I used the Framework Die Set again to cut out the scallop edged rectangle and ticket shape. This time I mounted it all on a green cardstock base.

Here's what I created:
2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! Plaid Coffee Card by Jennifer Jackson | Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Plaid Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
We have several coffee themed sets so it's hard to choose but I decided to work with the cute kitty from our Sending Hugs Stamp Set for my card today.  I love this set so much because the coordinating die set cuts around the arms which allows you to add in accessories for the characters to hold. On this card, I added in the little coffee cup tucked into his arms to go with our coffee them today. For the background I created a fun blue and mint plaid pattern using our new Plaid Stencil Set. This set includes two pieces that easily line up so you can create plaid patterns in multiple colors! It's SO fun to use!

2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! Plaid Coffee Card by Jennifer Jackson | Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Plaid Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
After I had the plaid background panel created, I cut it into scallop using our Frames & Flags Die Set. I also cut a stripe of white and of mint paper using the same die set and stacked them together over the plaid. I stamped the "sending smiles" sentiment from the Sending Hugs Stamp Set on the mint stripe and added some bright blue twine to finish out the card! This was so simple to make and I LOVE how it turned out!

If you haven't seen these products yet, here are images of what I used today:
We also have a BUNCH of designs that have coffee in them.
You can find them all here: Coffee Sets

Happy Birthday Dog and Cat Cards by Zsofia Molnar

Happy Birthday Cards for Dog and Cat lovers!!

Today we have a duo of birthday cards by Zsofia featuring designs for both dog and cat fans! These two cards feature the same design and type of products but different color palettes and themes! What a great way to design one card and alter it to make it work for the person you are sending it to!
Happy Birthday Dog and Cat Cards by Zsofia Molnar | Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Woof Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
For the first card she used the cute dog from our Sending Hugs Stamp Set. She cut the dog out using the coordinating Sending Hugs Die Set. This die set is special because it also cuts around the paws, allowing the dog to hold items. For this card she colored that cute cupcake to nest inside. She also added a little gift to the side. To make it even more fun, she added in a big blue balloon using our Fabulous Frenchies Stamp Set and Fabulous Frenchies Die Set. The fun dog themed background was created using distress inks in shades of green and blue with our Woof Stencil! So cute!
Happy Birthday Cat Card by Zsofia Molnar | Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Meow Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
For the second card she used the same layout but changed the images and colors. For this one she chose the cat from our Sending Hugs Stamp Set. Again, she cut the cat out using the coordinating Sending Hugs Die Set, added another adorable cupcake tucked inside the arms and a gift to the side. And, just like the previous card, a balloon was added on using our Fabulous Frenchies Stamp Set and Fabulous Frenchies Die Set. This time she stenciled a is a cat themed background using distress inks in shades of red and yellow with our Meow Stencil! So cute!

This is such a fun idea! You could create a whole series of these in different colors and be ready with birthday cards for all the dog and cat fans in your life!

Thank you, Zsofia, for the awesome inspiration today! You can find more of Zsofia's lovely creations and say hello to her over at her blog, Safsafdesign.

Sending Hugs Card by Jennifer Timko | Cottage Garden and Sending Hugs Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Sending Hugs!

Today we are sharing an adorable card by Jennifer inspired by the mood board for the Layton's Legacy Blog Hop! For her card today, Jennifer stamped the sweet little owl in teal and two little yellow flowers from our Cottage Garden Stamp Set. She die cut the pieces out using the coordinating Cottage Garden Die Set. For her card she used a lovely grey card base and then cut out a piece of chevron patterned paper using the stitched rectangle from our Frames & Flags Die Set. She also cut out a stitched circle and  added the "Sending Hugs" Sentiment from our Sending Hugs Stamp Set. She layered it all together with some bakers twine for this sweet card.

Sending Love Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

Sending Love Card by Tatiana Trafimovich | Love Owl-ways Stamp Set, Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Cloudy Sky Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs

Sending Love

Today we have a card by Tatiana that is perfect for Valentine's Day! This card features images from our adorable Love Owl-ways Stamp Set. To create the image of the owl with all the valentine goodies she combined several images. She started with the owl holding the balloon form the Love Owl-ways Stamp Set. Next, she added just the box of candy from the owl holding the candy from the same set, so that the one owl could hold both items! Then, to add more accessories she added the letters and bouquet of flowers from our Sending Hugs Stamp Set! This owl is truly laden down with love! She colored all the images with copic markers and cut them out using the coordinating Love Owl-ways Die Set and Sending Hugs Die Set. The tiny hearts in the sky are also from our Love Owl-ways Stamp Set

For the card base she created a sky filled with clouds using our Cloudy Sky Stencil with a crackle texture paste. Then she layered this over a white panel with a postage edge that was cut out using our Framework Die Set. The last piece was the custom sentiment, created by combing the word "sending" from the Sending Hugs Stamp Set with the die cut "love" cut out with our Darling Hearts Die Set.

Here is a close-up so you can see all the amazing details:

Love, Hugs & Smiles Card by Amanda Bodine | Sending Hugs Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Love, Hugs & Smiles!

Today we have an adorable trio of friends sharing love, hugs, and smiles on this card by Amanda. She used the three characters from our Sending Hugs Stamp Set and colored them in lovely vibrant hues using copic markers. She also colored the wine bottle, flowers, and gift, which are also images from our Sending Hugs Stamp Set. She die cut out all the items using the coordinating Sending Hugs Die Set and nestled them in the arms of the characters. The coordinating die set also cuts around the arms to make it easy for them to hold things! For her base, Amanda added a arch of blue ink for the characters to layer over. She also added a fun balloon using our Fabulous Frenchies Stamp Set and coordinating Die Set. She added the words alongs the bottom and few extra hearts too!

Coffee Gift set by Ellen Haxelmans

Coffee Gift set and card by Ellen Haxelmans | Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Tumbling Hearts Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Adorable Coffee Gift Set

Today we have an a fun idea on how to make a gift special by Ellen. She created an adorable coffee card to go with a gift of coffee for a friend. She used the cute image of the bear, Winston, holding a coffee from our Sending Hugs Stamp Set. This stamp set is super cool because when you cut it out with the coordinating Sending Hugs Die Set it also cuts around the arms so the critters can hold the accessories in the set! She also embellished her coffee shaped card using our Tumbling Hearts Stencil with white embossing powder to create that cute heart background. She finished it off with the the sentiments "sending smiles" on the wrap and "hello" on the lid from our Sending Hugs Stamp Set. So cute!

She tucked it inside her box with the coffee gift and she also decorated the outside of the box to make this package feel extra special using the image of Winston in his airplane from the Winston Takes Flight Stamp Set! Wouldn't this be so fun to receive in the mail?
