Heartfelt Thank You Card!

Today we are sharing another fun way to use our new products by Zsofia to create a lovely thank you card!

To make this card, she first cut out two scallop edged circles using our Circle Frames Die Set. Then she added pink centers to them using a light pink ink with our Slimline Masking Circles & Squares Stencil Set. She left the stencil in place after adding the light pink and then stamped the image from our Heartfelt Roses Stamp Set using a darker pink ink. This technique perfectly masked the area so the stamped roses only appear over the pink circle. What a fun and creative way to use the stencil as a mask!

She added the circles onto her card over some blue striped paper. She also added three sentiments from the Heartfelt Roses Stamp Set, each embossed in white over a dark pink banner that was cut out using our Banner Trio Die Set.  The three sentiments that she chose work perfectly together for sending special thanks! She finished the card by adding some pretty pearls.

Special Day Card by February Guest Designer Caitlin Anthony

I am so excited to share this card with you today! I cannot wait for spring but first we have to get through a lot of snow and then rain to get to the good stuff, so this card has a mix of both. I made a fun ink blended, splattered and glitter paste stenciled background trying to evoke the feeling of rain and puddles and paired it with some fun and bright spring stamps from the Loads of Blooms Stamp Set.

I started out with a piece of white cardstock measuring 5.5 x 4.25 inches and used 3 shades of Distress Inks to create a watery background. I started by blending tumbled glass over the entire cardstock and then added in mermaid lagoon from the upper left corner, making a point to not create a smooth blend and going about halfway across the space. I then added the chipped sapphire, keeping it mostly in the corner and went in with a mixture of that ink and water on a small brush and made some small puddles and splotches. Because this was cardstock and not watercolor paper, I tried to use as little water as possible. I let the whole thing dry and then added splatters of all three inks and some watered down white paint.

The final step to finish this background was to add some iridescent glitter paste using the Bubbly Stencil and trim the panel down to 5 x3.75. I glued this smaller panel onto a white-wood pattern paper background that is 5.5 x 4.25 to fit a standard A2 sized card. I was already loving this background but the stencil really stepped up the rainy feel while also making it more fun. Glitter is always fun in my book, especially when it's the kind that doesn’t transfer off the card lol.

I used two different stamps from the Loads of Blooms Stamp Set. I stamped the umbrella lady once and the flowers from the top of the bike lady twice with an alcohol friendly ink and used copic markers to color them all in. I wanted to stick with a small color pallet of all cool toned colors and used a fuchsia pink for a fun and bright pop. I used the coordinating Load of Blooms Die Set for all three images and then trimmed the bike images down to use as bushes behind our main lady.

I stamped out a sentiment from Dainty Daisies Stamp Set onto a white wood print paper to match the backer panel. I decided to glue the bushes and sentiment down flat to the paper and to pop the umbrella lady up on foam tape for some fun dimension. 

This card is a happy reminder that warmer days are coming and flowers can only bloom with the help of some rain!

Newton's Nook Designs Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

It's our 7th Annual Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

For my stop on the hop today,  I wanted to make something fun chocolate holders featuring the cute rescue vehicles from from our new Love Emergency Stamp Set. This set includes a fire truck, ambulance and police car with puns that are perfect for Valentine's Day! 

I started out by coloring the ambulance, fire truck and police car using copic markers. I then cut them out with the coordinating Love Emergency Die Set. I knew I wanted to use our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set to make treat holders so I cut out a tag for each vehicle. I decorated the tag to make it look like a street by adding a stripe of clouds using a piece of blue paper that was stenciled with our Cloudy Sky Stencil. Below the clouds I added a stripe of gray cardstock to look like a road. Then each tag was topped with a red scalloped edge. To create this I cut a border using one of the decorative border edges that is included in the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set. 

To make this tag into a treat holder I cut another white tag using the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set. Then I connected the decorated tag to the plain white one creating a hinge using a small piece of cardstock that was the same width (around 2 inches). I attached the hinge on the bottom to connect the two tags together and make a pocket. I placed the chocolates inside a little cello bag and adhered it inside the holder.

I also stamped the senimtments from the Love Emergency Stamp Set onto hearts that were cut out using the Heart Frames Die Set. I punched a hole in each heart and a black and white ribbon tied through both tags connects the tops together to hold it closed.

Sending Love 

Today we have a card by Tatiana that is perfect for Valentine's Day! This card features images from our adorable Love Owl-ways Stamp Set. To create the image of the owl with all the valentine goodies she combined several images. She started with the owl holding the balloon form the Love Owl-ways Stamp Set. Next, she added just the box of candy from the owl holding the candy from the same set, so that the one owl could hold both items! Then, to add more accessories she added the letters and bouquet of flowers from our Sending Hugs Stamp Set! This owl is truly laden down with love! She colored all the images with copic markers and cut them out using the coordinating Love Owl-ways Die Set and Sending Hugs Die Set. The tiny hearts in the sky are also from our Love Owl-ways Stamp Set. 

For the card base she created a sky filled with clouds using our Cloudy Sky Stencil with a crackle texture paste. Then she layered this over a white panel with a postage edge that was cut out using our Framework Die Set. The last piece was the custom sentiment, created by combing the word "sending" from the Sending Hugs Stamp Set with the die cut "love" cut out with our Darling Hearts Die Set.

We are getting in the mood for sending Valentine's cards this week! How about you? Today we have a sweet typewriter card by Samantha that is sure to help get you in the mood for sending some love notes!

She started out with the adorable tiny typewriter from our My Type Stamp Set. She stamped the image of the typewriter several times and colored it in different shades of red and pink. On each typewriter paper she added the "xoxo" sentiment. She cut out all the typewriters using the coordinating My Type Die Set and added them onto her card in a grid pattern. The scallop edged panel was die cut using our Frames & Flags Die Set. 

Creating a grid like this is such an adorable and creative way to use your smaller stamp sets! Which color typewriter is your favorite?

Samantha had one extra typewriter after she created this card so she made another bonus project: 

This clean and simple card is perfect for letting someone know you care! On this card she also added the "you are loved" sentiment from our Heartfelt Essentials Stamp Set. This set is filled with caring thoughts and is perfect for adding a bit of love to any project!

Beautiful Butterflies Card by Farhana Sarker

Thinking of You Butterfly Card!

Are you wishing for Spring? This gorgeous card by Farhana will definitely inspire you to start thinking about crafting with your spring supplies! She uses two of our products that feature butterflies, our Monarchs Stamp Set and our Butterflies Stencil Set. These two butterfly themed products pair so perfectly together! 

She started out by embossing the butterflies from our our Monarchs Stamp Set in gold. Then she added ink blends over the embossed images using distress oxides in soft spring colors. She fussy cut the images out but you could also use the coordinating Monarchs Die Set if you don't like to cut by hand. 

For the card base she used our two pice Butterflies Stencil Set. She ink blended the layer with the butterfly wing patterns, using the same inks as she had used on the stamped butterflies. Then she used the second stencil and instead of inking it, she pressed it into the paper using a  die cutting machine to emboss the wing shapes. She added all the butterflies over the embossed panel and adhered it over another inked background panel. What a gorgeous effect! 

To finish out the card, she added the sentiment "Thinking of You" from the Floral Roundabout Stamp Set, embossed in gold onto a banner that was cut out using our Banner Trio Die Set.

Thinking of You Card by February Guest Designer Caitlin Anthony

It's a new month today and we are welcoming our Guest Designer for February, Caitlin Anthony! We have fallen in love with Caitlin's creations on instagram and can't wait to see what she created this month using our products! Hi everyone! My name is Caitlin Anthony and I live in Delaware with my husband and two young daughters. I have always loved the arts and I have a background in costuming and makeup artistry. I was first introduced to card making and stamping when I came across some tutorials on YouTube 3 years ago and watching them really helped me deal with some late night anxiety. I fell in love with stamping quickly but was only making cards very casually until the pandemic started and I was furloughed last April; that is when I decided to start pushing myself to learn and practice as much as I could. I am beyond excited to be joining you for the month of February with Newton’s Nook and I hope you get inspired to create!

For my first project this month, I knew I wanted to try to create a good transitional card for this weird time we are in between winter and spring. I decided I wanted to use this super sweet fox from the Woodland Spring Stamp Set but pair it with some cooler, almost frosty colors. I also wanted to balance out using a single image by really making a background that would pop and the Floral Lace Stencil was the perfect fit.

I started off with a piece of plain white 80lb cardstock that was around 4x6 and I knew I would be trimming it down. I washi taped the cardstock to the stencil from the back and ink blended over the stencil with Distress Ink in Chipped Sapphire and Broken China working with a diagonal meeting point. And I need you to know that taking this stencil off was seriously so satisfying!! I ended up trimming this panel down to 5x3.75 inches and used a corner rounder to soften up the look a little more.

Next I stamped out my little fox and colored it in with copic markers, trying my best to make the colors of the flowers in the stamp match the Chipped Sapphire ink in the background. This fox is definitely more orange instead of red or brown because I really wanted it to contrast with all the frosty blues I was using. I die cut two circles from white 80 lb cardstock and quickly ink blended the smaller one with an even layer of the Broken China ink. I used liquid glue to place the fox on the smaller circle and then added that circle on top of the bigger one, just a little higher than center. I then stamped the "Thinking of You" sentiment from the same Woodland Spring Stamp Set  just underneath with black ink. Then I needed to attach the circles to my stenciled panel and add all of that to a side folding, white A2 sized card base (5.5x4.25 inches) and I also rounded the bottom two corners.  

I love how this sweet card turned out and I cannot wait to send it out to a friend who needs a smile!
