Owl-ways & Forever!

Today Larissa has created an adorable owl card that is perfect for Spring! She started out with the cute owl couple from our Love Owl-ways Stamp Set. She colored the sweet birds with Copic markers, added lots of little dots for texture and white gel pen accents too. She trimmed out the image using the coordinating Love Owl-ways Die Set. Then she created a gorgeous wreath for them to sit in using a bunch of different floral stamps. She created the circle using three lily stems from our Little Lillies Stamp Set, and added lots of extra little blooms and leaves from our Lovely Blooms Stamp Set and Toucan Party Stamp Set. She colored all these lovely flowers and cut them out with their coordinating die sets. Then she assembled them into a wreath shape. She also added in a branch for the owls to perch on using our Winter Birds Stamp Set and coordinating Winter Birds Die Set.

In the background of the card you can also see some lovely blue hearts. She added these in using our Tumbling Hearts Stencil.

Happy Blooming Birthday Card by Samantha Mann

Happy Blooming Birthday!

Today have an awesome spring card by Samantha! She created this gorgeous spring card using the tulips from our Beautiful Spring Stamp Set. She colored the tulip tops and stems using bright colored watercolors. Then she cut them out using the coordinating Beautiful Spring Die Set. For the background of her card she created a fun sky using distress inks and added the tulips in front, layering them with dimensional adhesives. She cut a banner out of black cardstock and embossed the "happy blooming birthday" sentiment in white from our Loads of Blooms Stamp Set. This sentiment from our new set goes so perfectly with the image of tulips! What a fun way to blend new and old products together!

Fetch-ing You a Happy Birthday Card by Jennifer Jackson

Fetching Birthday Wishes!

Hello! Jen here with a fun dog themed Birthday Card! I never have enough birthday cards so I've been trying to make an effort to create a few extras to have on hand for this year! I've been having fun pulling out stamps I haven't worked with in a while to make them too! For this card I used the cute Labrador image from our Fetching Friendship Stamp Set. I colored the pup, hat and gifts from the set using copic markers and then I cut the images out using the coordinating Fetching Friendship Die Set. For the background I created a fun watercolor splash using similar colors of distress inks. I squished them onto my nonstick craft sheet and spritzed them with water. Then I used a piece of acetate to pick up the color from the mat and squished that onto a piece of watercolor paper to transfer the colors onto the background. This is a fun way to get a watercolor look like this and you can control where the colors go a bit better. 

I framed this watercolor piece with some purple cardstock and assembled the card together. I used the sentiment, also from the Fetching Friendship Stamp Set and embossed it with white on a black banner to layer behind the dog. The banner was cut out using our  Frames & Flags Die Set. Then I finished it out with a piece of blue twine! Perfect for a cheerful birthday card! I'll definitely send this to someone who loves dogs too!

A Sweet Spring Deer Card by Zsofia Molnar

A Sweet Spring Deer!  

Today Zsofia created this adorable Spring card featuring the adorable deer image from our new Woodland Spring Stamp Set. The colored the deer with the flowers on his head using copic markers and then cut the image out using the coordinating Woodland Spring Die Set. For her card she cut an oval out of kraft cardstock and then she colored and cut the flower garland image four times, also from the Woodland Spring Stamp Set to adorn the top and bottom of the oval around the deer! So cute! She added the sentiment onto the oval as well and mounted the whole thing onto a light pink checkered background. She cut the postage edge frame out using our Framework Die Set.

She also added such sweet details! In the close up photos you can see the added glossy effects, beads in the flower centers and sparkle!

No Prob-llama Card by March Guest Designer Jane Clark

Today we have our first post from our March Guest Designer, Jane Clark from Miss Jane's Classroom! We love Jane's fun and creative cards and gorgeous coloring and we are super excited to feature her creations on our blog this month! We can't wait to share what she creates with our stamps.

Hi I'm Jane, also known as Miss Jane to a lot of my friends, hence why my creative sharing Facebook page, Instagram and Blog are all called 'Miss Jane's Classroom'. I've been making cards since I was six years old. I had the dream job of working for an Australian cardmaking magazine called 'Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft' for 11 years. I was the Editor of the magazine in it's last year of production, unfortunately like many magazines it folded. I had great joy in meeting so many talented cardmakers, it was an immeasurable experience.

I live in a small rural town called Moree NSW Australia. Instead of the kids moving out of home, hubby and I moved out instead, from a busy suburb lifestyle to a peaceful, quiet small town of 10,000. I'm finding it challenging with the lack of shops, people I know, no family or friends close (eight hour driving trip). One thing exciting though, this move gives me the leisure for more time to create! I love all things about cardmaking, I haven't really got a particular style because I love them all and we are always learning I say! I'm very excited and feel so privileged to be a guest designer for Newton's Nook Designs, I just love their designs and have so for many years!

Now who doesn’t like llamas?? Everyone loves them!! I decided to give this llama some spunk and a lot of attitude, especially with those cool blue sunnies and that bright coat!

I stamped one of Newton's Nook Designs Lovable Llamas images on blender card with Memento tuxedo black ink and added the curved blanket/coat to it.

I coloured the llama using my Copics.

The Hill background looks pretty cool too, I created this by drawing curved hills on plain vellum using a white prismacolor pencil, flipped it over and coloured the reverse side using several shades of green Distress Ink pads using a chalk applicator, this technique gives it a lovely soft coloured effect don’t you think? Funky hills for a funky llama!

Lastly, I also put little eyelashes on the llama and created a fluffy body by drawing little half curved circles using a blue marker.

NND Sponsors Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #465

The current challenge going up today features the a Plaid theme!

Of course I had to play along -- here's the card I created:

I was excited to see this challenge theme was plaid! We have an awesome two piece Plaid Stencil Set so I had to use that for the background.  This stencil is two pieces so it makes it easy to create patterns in multiple colors. I started with the thicker plaid stripes and used blue ink over the stencil. Then I added the thin purple stripes using the second stencil. I decided to go back and add a third color so I used the thicker striped stencil again and this time I used lime green ink. It's so fun how you create custom patterns! 

Once the background was complete I stamped the owl holding a heart shaped balloon from our Love Owl-ways Stamp Set on watercolor paper using archival waterproof ink. I then colored the image using Inktense watercolor pencils and a water brush. I cut out the image out using the coordinating Love Owl-ways Die Set. Then I created a strip of clouds using our Sky Borders Die Set and cutting the cloud border on top and bottom of a white piece of paper. 

I assembled the card, adding a stripe of purple behind the clouds to help them pop. I added the owl on using dimensional foam tape. Then I finished it off by stamping the "Guess whoooo loves you" Sentiment from the  Love Owl-ways Stamp Set. I love how this turned out!

April Showers Card by Amanda Bodine

April Showers! 

We are in the mood for Spring this week and the theme continues with this gorgeous Spring creation by Amanda! For her card today she features the big sentiment from our April Showers Stamp Set as the focal point of her card. She frames the fun saying with a cute scallop edged frame that was cut out using our Framework Die Set. Then she added cute little flowers and leaves to the corners using our Flower Trio Die Set. Of course you need an umbrella for an April shower so she added in that cute frog umbrella from our Umbrella Pals Stamp Set. She colored the image with Copic markers and and trimmed it out with the coordinating Umbrella Pals Die Set. The gorgeous background was created using our Floral Lace Stencil with fun shades of teal and a little purple!

What a beautiful creation for Spring! This would brighten anyone's day!
