2022 Cat Lovers Hop

This week is the 2022 Cat Lovers Hop! This hop is so fun and since the theme is CATS we knew we HAD to play along! To participate in this blog hop, you just have to create a project that features a cat theme  and upload it to the post on Her Peaceful Garden! Here's what I created:

Since we have a ton of different kitty stamp designs in our shop, it was hard to choose what to use for my card today, but I decided to feature our brand new Newton's Gift Stamp Set. This set features the kitty popping out of a gift box and holding a blank tag. The stamp set also includes a variety of sentiments that will fit on the tag so you can customize your greeting. For this card I chose to use "fa la la la MEOW" and created a card with a holiday music theme! I colored the image with watercolor markers and then cut it out using the coordinating Newton's Gift Die Set.

For the background I chose our Argyle Stencil Set and created the fun argyle pattern in that matched the colors I had used on the gift. This stencil set is awesome because it has two layers that easily line up. It's great for making two color backgrounds! I chose to make the diamond layer lime green and the stitching layer pink. Then I cut the panel out with our  Frames & Flags Die Set to give it a fun scalloped edge. 

I wanted to add some music to this card to match the sentiment so I used our Music Stencil with white texture paste on top of some vellum. After it had dried I cut it out into a scalloped circle using our Circle Frames Die Set. I also cut out a smaller scalloped circle using the lime green polka dot paper from our new Christmas Time Paper Pad. This paper pad has some great Christmas patterns but if you like kitties, you'll want to check out our Meowy Christmas Paper Pad too as it's jam packed with cute holiday kitty themes!

We hope you enjoy the cat hop! I you are not familiar with our brand yet, our company was named after our orange tabby, Newton. Sadly, we lost our 18 year old Newton in 2019. We miss him terribly but he still lives on in our hearts and our stamp designs! Our current resident kitty helper is named Marlowe. One of his favorite activities is walking across my keyboard, but he means to be a "good" helper! LOL! Here's a photo of Marlowe from the other day, he was being all sleepy while keeping me company on my craft desk!

Bah HumPUG Card by Samantha Mann + Blog Hop Winners!

Bah HumPUG!

Today we have a grumpy pug Holiday card by Samantha that is sure to make you giggle! 

For this funny card, Samantha used the cute pug from our  Pug Hugs Stamp Set. She colored in shades of brown and added a bright red nose and pink cheeks! So cute! She used the coordinating Pug Hugs Die Set to cut the image out before adding it to her card. She also added a Santa hat onto the pugs head using the hat stamp from the Newton's Christmas Kittens Stamp Set and cutting it out with the coordinating Newton's Christmas Kittens Die Set. She added a tiny pom pom onto the hat for a fun and cheerful detail!

For the background, she created a gorgeous background of gold lights using our Light Strings Stencil Set over a blue inked background. This stencil is two layers so it makes using two colors easy. For the layer with the light bulbs she used deco foil transfer gel over the stencil to apply gold foil to the light bulbs!  Then she lined up the second stencil with the light strings and used white texture paste! What a beautiful effect!  

For the sentiment, she used letters from our Essential Alphabet Die Set to spell out "BAH HUMPUG" and cut it out of the background panel. She then layered it over a piece of black cardstock so the letters really pop through! So fun!

Naughty Kitten Christmas Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

There's Always Next Year... 

This week we are lucky enough to have TWO adorable projects by Design Team member, Tatiana! Today we are sharing a fun card with a naughty kitty tangled in holiday lights!

For this card, Tatiana used the cute but naughty kitten from our A Kitten Christmas Stamp Set. She colored the image of the kitty tangled in the lights from this set and added a cute Santa hat to the kittens head (stamped from the Christmas Puppies Stamp Set). She also stamped and colored a bunch of single lightbulb images from the A Kitten Christmas Stamp Set, adding fun color glows around each lightbulb! What a fun way to make the lights look like they're glowing! She cut all the images out using the coordinating A Kitten Christmas Die Set. 

For the background, she inked up a panel using blue distress inks and added blue and white splatters to it. She cut it out using the large frame die from our Frames & Flags Die Set to give it a scalloped edge. The kitty and lights went on top. The single lights were added around the image and added to a hand drawn line that works as the messy light string tangle!

The finishing touch was the sentiment "There's always next year to be good!" embossed in white on a piece of black cardstock. She hand cut around the letters and added it to her card below the kitten.

2021 Cat Lovers Hop

This week is the 2021 Cat Lovers Hop! This hop is so fun and since the theme is CATS we knew we HAD to play along! To participate in this blog hop, you just have to create a project that features a cat theme  and upload it to the post on Her Peaceful Garden! Here's what I created:

For this card I featured the fun image of THREE kitties on a sledding together from the Newton's Toboggan Stamp Set. I colored the image with copic markers, giving each kitty a different fur color and colorful hats and scarves. The one in the back looks a little bit like Toulouse, our gray tabby! I cut the image out using the coordinating Newton's Toboggan Die Set. 

For my card base, I created a fun green gingham background using one of the patterns from our BRAND NEW Meowy Christmas Paper Pad. We just introduced this paper pad with our newest release and it's filled with fun prints that are perfect for Christmas and some of the patterns have kitties in them too! If you haven't seen it yet, make sure to pop over to our shop and check it out in the new category. I cut the paper out using the big scalloped frame from our Frames & Flags Die Set.

Next, I created snowy hills using our Land Borders Die Set. I cut out the curvy hills and then cut the papers again with the Frames & Flags Die Set so that I could match them up with the patterned paper that is behind them. I also added some birch trees using our Forest Scene Builder Die Set.

The finishing touch is the sentiment "bring on the snow" from the Newton's Toboggan Stamp Set. I stamped it inside a bubble that was cut out using our Speech Bubbles Die Set. I placed it so that the kitty on the back of the toboggan looks like he's yelling it out. So cute!

Meowy Christmas Card by October Guest Designer Allison Arbour

Hello Newton’s Nook fans!
I’ve been having so much fun quest designing this month. For today’s card I created a soft pink slimline card for these sweet kittens from A Kitten Christmas to hang out on.

To make this card:

Start with a white slimline card base. Layer from the bottom up. A large pink stitched rectangle panel, next a slightly smaller scalloped panel with snowflakes stenciled on it. You could use the Snowflake Stencil from Newton's Nook designs for this. 

For the top layer I created a shaker panel. To make the shaker, die cut a frame with a slimline rectangle set and use vellum for the window. Fill the window with lots of sparkly happiness and attach foam to the back of the frame. Close it up with white copy paper with a pink card stock strip in the middle.

Attach a string around the window to dangle some snowflake die cuts from. You could use the snowflakes from the Snowglobe Shake Die Set from Newton's Nook designs for this. 

Finish the card by adding some cute kittens and a sentiment with dimensional tape and a few nuvo drops and sequins.

2020 Cat Lovers Blog Hop!

2020 Cat Lovers Hop

This week is the 2020 Cat Lovers Hop! This hop is so fun and since the theme is CATS we knew we HAD to play along! To participate in this blog hop, you just have to create a project that features a cat theme  and upload it to the post on Her Peaceful Garden! Here's what I created:

We JUST had our Holiday release last Friday and so I wanted to share a card I created using our brand new A Kitten Chistmas Stamp Set. 

If you are new to us you might not know that our business is a husband and wife team (Jeff and I) and I am also the illustrator of all of our designs. Our company was named after our orange kitty, Newton, who passed away last fall. This spring we adopted two new adorable kittens, Toulouse and Marlowe, who are now just six months old. This new kitten stamp set is inspired by them! 

I also colored the kittens on this card on our new little ones! I colored the image of the kitten in the oversized Santa hat to look like Toulouse and the kitten playing with the dangling Christmas ornament to look like Marlowe. I used Inktense watercolor pencils to color them. 

Here is a close-up so you can see the coloring. 

After they were colored, I cut the images out with the coordinating A Kitten Christmas Die Set so they could layer onto my card. For the card background I created more ornaments for those kitties to chase using our Ornaments Stencil. I carefully masked off the ornaments so that I could ink them in different colors. I'll admit, it took me a couple of tries to get it to look how I wanted but I'm happy with how it turned out! 

Then I added a couple of snowy hills, using our Land Borders Die Set across the bottom. The sentiment "Meowy Christmas" is also from the new A Kitten Chistmas Stamp Set. 

I know it's going to be an interesting Christmas this year with these two mischievous little ones around! I hope you enjoyed this project today! I had so much fun making it!
