Candy Corn Card by Amanda Wilcox

Candy Corn Card by Amanda Wilcox | Candy Corn Newton Stamp Set, Candy Corn Stencil Set, and Spooky Sky Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Time for Candy Corn!

If you like candy corn you are going to love this yummy candy filled card by Amanda featuring our Candy Corn Newton Stamp Set and our Candy Corn Stencil Set

For her main image she stamped and colored the adorable kitty wearing the Halloween costume from the Candy Corn Newton Stamp Set. She cut the image out with the coordinating Candy Corn Newton Die Set. She then created a spooky night scene using several die sets. She started by cutting out the stitched rectangle using our Frames & Flags Die Set. She then cut out some black grass with our Land Borders Die Set. For the sky she cut out clouds, stars and a moon using our Spooky Sky Die Set. She assembled all the pieces together, adding a little bit of distress ink onto the yellow moon and the edges of the rectangle.

To create the candy corn background she used our  Candy Corn Stencil Set. This stencil has three pieces that you can line up easily to create the three different colors. Amanda inked her layers over black cardstock. On the dark cardstock the colors become desaturated and it makes a great spooky or night time look!

After everything was assembled she added the sentiment from the Candy Corn Newton Stamp Set, stamping it onto a small oval that was cut out with our  Oval Frames Die Set.

Apple Branch Card by Samantha Mann

Apple Branch Card by Samantha Mann | Autumn Apples Stamp Set and Cherry Blossoms Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Creating an Apple Tree Branch

Today we are sharing a gorgeous apple card by Samantha featuring our Autumn Apples Stamp Set and our Cherry Blossoms Stamp Set

She created the gorgeous branch of apples using the apple image from the Autumn Apples Stamp Set. She stamped and colored the apple multiple times and cut the image out using the coordinating Autumn Apples Die Set. To create the branch she used the branch of blooms from our Cherry Blossoms Die Set. She stamped and colored this branch multiple times so that she had enough to span across her card. She cut the images out using the coordinating Cherry Blossoms Stamp Set. She then arranged the apples and the floral branches across her card to create the look of a loaded down apple branch! So cool!

She wanted a few more little leaves so she used the tiny leaf stamp from our Newton's Hanging Basket Stamp Set, coloring the images and cutting them out using the coordinating Newton's Hanging Basket Die Set. She added the little leaves onto the branch and then spritzed it all with a bit of white paint for a bit of texture.

She layered everything over a beautiful smoky background that she had created with alcohol inks. The apples really pop over the black!

A Big Cup of Thanks Shaker Card by Larissa Heskett| Newton's Mug Stamp Set, Basic Frames Die Set and Frames & Flags Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Cup of Thanks!

Today we are sharing a beautiful shaker card by Larissa featuring our Newton's Mug Stamp Set

Larissa colored the sweet kitty in the coffee mug from the Newton's Mug Stamp Set. This set has several different sentiments that fit on the front of the mug and she chose to make it into a thank you by using the "big cup of thanks" sentiment. She cut it out using the coordinating Newton's Mug Die Set.

Next, she cut out a brown rectangle using our Basic Frames Die Set and used our Falling Leaves Stencil with white ink to add a leaf pattern onto the die cut shape. She then used it for a shaker background, adding sequins underneath a piece of acetate and stitching it all closed. She cut out a scallop edged frame using a paper from our Autumn Meows Paper Pad and cutting it with our Frames & Flags Die Set. She layered it all together and adhered it to a white card base. She added the cute kitty image on top to finish off the card.

Inspired by Jenn Shurkus!

Celebrating Jenn Shurkus today!

Hello! Jen here and I'm excited to sharing a project celebrate Jenn Shurkus! Jenn has reached the milestone of 20 years of blogging! What an incredible milestone! Jenn is having an inspiration party to celebrate and I am excited to join along! Scroll down to see my projects and pop over to Jenn's blog today to see more inspiration! Plus, we are having a World Cardmaking Day Sale, starting today. Read all the way to the end of this post for details!

I personally have always been a fan of Jenn and her creativity! I love watching her videos and have taken a few of her online classes. Not only is she a fabulous and talented artist but she's a fantastic teacher too! If you haven't tried her classes, I highly recommend them. I also want to thank her for supporting Newton's Nook Designs in her classes and events over the years! Her support of our brand means a lot to us and we really appreciate it. Plus, we are joined in friendship over our love of our feline companions!

Today Jenn challenged the participants in her inspiration party to choose a card from her blog that inspired us and create a card of our own! It was a hard decision since she has SO many gorgeous projects on her blog but I knew I wanted to create a Halloween card so that helped me narrowed it down. I choose her set of Halloween cards from this blog post using a large stamp from Colorado Craft Company. I loved the way she created two cards, one ink blended over the image and one with colored pieces. I created my own version using our Halloween Postage Sampler Stamp Set.

Although the card that was created by Jenn used one large stamp I wanted to try doing something similar with a bunch of smaller stamps. I used images from the Halloween Postage Sampler Stamp Set and stamped them repeatedly onto panels of Bristol paper using Versafine black ink. This is my favorite ink for getting a crisp image, especially with bold silhouetted stamps.

For the first card I made sure the ink was dry and then I blended over the images using distress oxide inks. I used Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberries, Carved Pumpkin and Twisted Citron.

For the sentiment I used "trick or treat" from the Halloween Postage Sampler Stamp Set and embossed it in white onto a 2 inch x 2 inch square of black cardstock. I used dimensional adhesive to add it to the center of the card and then mounted everything onto a black card base.

For my second card I used Zig Clean Color Watercolor Markers to add color to the images. I purposefully used a few more images that would be good to add color to when I stamped this card panel.

I used markers in shades of purple, orange and green with a little bit of yellow and gray. When I was done I also went back and splattered some purple, green and orange over the panel. I then created the exact same sentiment as the first card, adhering it on with dimensional adhesive.

I had a lot of fun being inspired by Jenn's blog and creating my own projects!

I hope that you are inspired to look at projects created by another crafter and create new cards of your own! Sharing and being creative with others is one of my favorite things about card making! Make sure to check out Jenn's blog Creative Chick to find more inspiration!

Thank you, Jenn, for inviting me to be a part of your celebration! Congratulations on 20 years of blogging!!
