Wishing you a Purr-fect day!

Purr-fect Day Cat Card using Newton's Antics

I just love this card- Who wouldn't love to get this in the mail? The "wishing you a purr-fect day" sentiment from the stamp set Newton's Antics is so nice because you could use it for anything... birthday, celebration... or just to say hello!  I also had fun coloring the kitty image on this card. I used copic markers and just layered on the different colors until I achieved a look I liked... I really love working with those markers! And then I gave the kitty a ball of yarn... just for fun.  Since I colored the yarn green I searched around my patterned paper scraps and found some that would go with the yarn and based my color combo off that!

Time to go fishing!

Fishing Bear card using Campfire Friends Stamp set

Another cute project today using the fishing bear  from the Campfire Tails set by Design Team Member Tessa Wise! What I love about Tessas cards is her use of vibrant colors and this card is no exception! Look how cute that bright red fishing hat is? So adorable! And the pop of colored paper really coordinates well with the bear! Check out her blog, Crafty Girl Creations to see all the details for this project and say hello to Tessa.

Meet me by the Campfire!

Meet me by the Campfire Card

Hello there! Happy Monday! How did the weekend go by so fast? They always do, don't they? I was able to spend a bunch of time working on our holiday release (I know, Christmas in July, right?) It's crazy to work so far ahead but that's how it goes :)

For now, let's get back to summer with a camping Card. I made this card using the Campfire Tails stamp set. This was one of the very first cards I made with this set but I haven't had a chance to share it yet so thought I would do that today!  I colored the fire with copic markers and punched it out using a circle punch.  Then I mounted that onto a piece of dark brown card stock  - makes it really pop off, don't you think? Then I layered that on top of a piece of light yellow card stock and sponged the edges. I added the sentiment "Meet me by the campfire" with black ink.  Then I used a woodgrain embossing folder to create the big woodgrain background and also sponged the edges of that. Then I mounted the whole thing on a bright orange base card. I really love how this turned out. I think it's one of my favorites that I've made with this set!

What do you think? Love this campfire as much as I do? You can purchase your very own Campfire Tails set in the Newton's Nook Designs online shop

hello card with Winged Wishes

Today I'm sharing one of the first cards I made with the stamp set Winged Wishes.  When I designed this stamp set I set out to make a set that was very versatile. If you love having sets that can be used for multiple occasions and this one definitely fits the bill.  Let me show you the full stamp art again so you can see what I mean:

Winged Wishes

This set has a ton of cute little words that can be paired with the larger words to create ton of different messages. Here are just a few ideas:
so much love •  love you  •  hello friend  •  hello there  •  happy hello  •  hello baby  •  happy birthday  •  party time  •  birthday party •  happy baby

I could go on... but here's what I made today- I used "hello there" and the two birds and clouds.

I hope you like this set as much as I do! It's so much fun to play with all the words!

Lovely Cards by Jean Martin!

Hello there and happy Wednesday! Today featuring some additional cards by launch guest Jean Martin. Jean was kind enough to make two cards for each stamp set for our launch. If you were here during the launch party and clicked through all the blogs you may have seen these over on Jeans blog already but I thought it would be fun to showcase the rest here today for those of you who may have missed them!

First up is a card using the set Just Say Cheese! I love how the sun rays add that bright pop of yellow and draw your eye into the focal image. Plus it's super cute how she used the thought bubble with the cheese grater!

Next is this super cute card featuring the naughty raccoon from Campfire Tails.  I love the little scene she created with the fire and the tree in the background! The polka dots give it a really modern feel.

This darling card features the baby clothes on the line from the stamp set Winged Wishes.  This would be such a cute card to give a little one for their birthday. I love how she paper pierced the clothes and the colors really pop off that white background!

And lastly, another Newton's Antics card. This one shows the kitty paper pierced! I just love how simple and clean this card is. The patterns in the papers really give it so much pop!

Thanks again to Jean for making such awesome cards for our launch! Make sure to go over to her blog and say hello :)

If you are interested in purchasing any of these sets, they're all available for sale in our online shop - check it out here!

Dryer Sheet Tutorial with Newton

So this weekend I was doing some laundry and as I changed loads and pulled out the dryer sheet I thought to myself "I haven't made a dryer sheet card in awhile.... hmmm that would be really cute on the Kitty stamp, wouldn't it? I should do a tutorial!"  I know I'm not the only crazy one who thinks about stamping while doing houshold chores, right? So here it is! Our first tutorial.

Step One: Stamp image.  This will work with any image. Of course, we'd love it if you used one of our images from the Newton's Antics stamp set.  (you can buy it  here) I picked the sleepy kitty image.

Step Two: color image. It doesn't matter what you use to color it. You could use markers if you'd like. I decided to use my Inktense colored pencils. At this point in my card-making process I had a special guest at my craft table - naughty Newton!  It was hard to color with him sitting on my project.... but he's so cute and since he's the kitty our stamp was based on I couldn't really tell him to go away!!
Here's what my image looks like all colored in. I used a blender pen to blend the Inktense pencil colors:

Step Three: Smear glue stick over image. This is easy- and it reminds you of art class in grade school, right? Just cover that whole image with glue.... but don't eat any!

Step Four: smoosh dryer sheet over glued area. Yes, "smoosh" is a technical term!  You could do this to the edges of your paper but I'm going to cut him out so I just covered the kitty. Note: this needs to be a USED dryer sheet. A new one is too stiff.

Step Five: cut out your image. At this point you could use a trimmer and cut a square but I wanted to just have the kitty image be fuzzy so I cut right up to the edges of the stamped image:

Step Six: Step back and admire your kitty! Yep - the fuzzy stamped one and the fuzzy real one! Newton has been there this whole time. He was getting bored with the card making and decided to take a nap.

That's all there is to it! You're done! Now you can take the cute fuzzy image and add it to a card. Here is what I made with mine ... and yes, Newton napped until I was done with the whole card!!

For the card I used the words "happy birthday to" from the stamp set Winged Wishes and added the "mew" from Newtons Antics! What a fun birthday card!

Here's a close-up: Can you see how soft and sweet it is?

So... let me know what you think!  Do you like the tutorials? Would you like to see more? It was fun to make and so funny that Newton had to come and help!

Hooked on You!

Happy Monday!
Hope you had a great weekend. Ours was fun! It has been so fun to see orders coming in for our designs from all over the states and some international too! We really appreciate your business and are super excited to see what you make with our stamps!!

Today I'm sharing an idea using the Campfire Tails set which you can now order in the store here. This set has been a lot of fun for me to work with - I really love this fishing bear. I think he's definitely going to be a "go-to" stamp for making masculine cards since I have a lot of guys in my family who love to fish!

For this card I paper-pierced the bear's vest and hat.  If you aren't familiar with this term it basically means you stamp it on a patterned paper and cut it out. It's hard to tell that the hat was from patterned paper since the pattern is so small but here's a close-up so you can see a little better :) The plaid vest turned out pretty cute, I think:

So what do you think of paper-piercing? I think it's fun but it does take some time to fussy-cut out the pieces and glue them back on so I'm not sure how often I'll do it. But if you're not great at coloring it's a cool way to add some color to an image as well.

If you want to see some more paper piercing, check out the first post for the Newton's Antics stamp set here - several of the samples show cute kitties paper pierced. In fact, Emily Leiphart even did a little tutorial on her site on how she paper-pierced the kitties. You can check that out on this post on her blog Art from the Heart.

Come back tomorrow - I have a fun little "tutorial" for you!!

Before I show you my project today I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who ordered yesterday and made our first day in business so great! Also thanks to everyone who participated in the blog launch party this week. It was so much fun to read everyones comments about our new products! We are so excited that everyone likes them! If you haven't ordered yet, there's still time to get the shipping special! Use code NNDLAUNCH in your shopping cart for $3 off shipping (that means FREE shipping to US and $3 off everywhere else!)

Ok - now I'm ready to show you what I made. If you follow me at all on instagram you might remember this image of some neon colored pencils I posted awhile back. These are  called Koh-I-Noor Astra Neon FX. I found them at a local craft shop but I think dick blick has them online too.
Now I can show you the cutest card I made with them! A little white kitty with neon pink ears! For this  ard I used our stamp set Newton's Antics which you can now purchase in our online shop here!
I stamped the kitty on white paper with black and colored his little ears with the neon pink pencil. Then I added some neon green grass around him.  I stamped the sentiment "loves mew"  - which is normally straight but I curved it on the stamp block so that it curved around his butt!  That is another cool thing you can do with photopolymer stamps, just bend them the way you like.. .and after you're done they bend right back!

I added some little hearts above his head and colored them in with the other neon pencils - yellow pink and orange. I also stuck on a few cute little colored sequins I had that matched pretty closely as well.
Isn't it so sweet? I really love how this one turned out. It looks so much more vibrant in person - it's hard to capture the neon on camera.

Hope you're having a lovely Saturday!
