Newton's Nook Designs Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

It's our 8th Annual Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

The Newton's Nook Designs Team is hopping along today to share some great Sweet Treats - just in time for Valentine's Day! Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the whole list and hop along and comment for a chance to win!

For my stop on the hop today,  I created an adorable set of tags for some homemade mini bread loaves using our new Knead Kittens Stamp Set. Since this stamp set is kitty and bread themed, I thought it would be the perfect combo!

I started by stamping and coloring two of the kitties from the set, the one wearing the bread slice over his head and the one kneading a blanket. I colored them to look like our kitties. The one wearing bread is meant to look like our kitty Marlowe and the one kneading the blanket is a lighter gray, like our kitty Toulouse. I used Zig Clean Color watercolor markers to color them. Then I cut them out using the coordinating Knead Kittens Die Set

Next, I cut out two tags using our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set. I cut the tag shape out multiple times, using different colors and then trimmed and layered them together to make two tags, one that was teal and link and one that was yellow and pink. I used the stitched border edge, also part of the die set, to create the fun fishtail bottoms.  I also cut out two fun decorative toppers, using the tag and border dies with pretty prints from our new Love & Meows Paper Pad.  I embossed the sentiments, also from the Knead Kittens Stamp Set, onto the bottom section of each tag and layered the kitty images above them. Then I simply tied them onto my mini bread loaves using fun pink ribbon.

Here is a close up of the light grey kitty tag (Toulouse):

Here is a close up of the darker gray brown kitty tag (Marlowe):

I often joke that our kitty Marlowe looks like a "loaf" so he was definitely my inspiration when I designed this set!

I hope you have enjoyed this cute Valentine project today! The next stop on the hop is Donna Idlet! Make sure you hop through all the blogs listed at the end of this post and leave a comment for a change to win :)

  3. I love the idea of coloring the kitties to match your real-life babies! I'm going to make a project this weekend (if fatigue from being sick with covid is better) and color the star of the show like my daughter's cat :)

  9. I am having difficulty leaving a comment on Amanda's blog - first time this has happened - maybe if she adds the Goggle icon it will work better for me?? - the only other Icon I can use is the Facebook selection, but it will not allow me to leave a comment - I just get an error message ---
