Let's Be Mermaids Card by Amanda Bodine | Purr-maid Newton Stamp Set, Sea Borders Die Set and Sunscape Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Let's be Mermaids together!

We are feeling lots of summer vibes on this card by Amanda today! She used the adorable kitty mermaids from our Purr-maid Newton Stamp Set! She also stamped a seahorse, seashells and some tiny fish from the set. She colored the images with copics giving them awesome green tales and a green seashell bikini! She cut all the images out using the coordinating Purr-maid Newton Die Set. Then she created an amazing background scene for her card. She started with a stenciled sun using our Sunscape Stencil. Then she layered waves over the top, die cutting them with our Sea Borders Die Set. She finished it off by adding the "Let's be mermaids" sentiment. What an amazing scene and an adorable summer card!

A Pineapple a Day!

She stamped the pineapple and top from the set in colored inks and then cut them out using the Pineapple Delight Die Set. She layered this image over a background that was lightly colored with pink ink and she added the sentiment, "a pineapple a day keeps the worries away", also from the Pineapple Delight Stamp Set,  in the corner with gold embossing powder. The stitched edge rectangle was cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set. For the card base she created an awesome gold background using our Tropical Leaves Stencil.

Teacher Gift Bag by Larissa Heskett

Teacher Gift Bag by Larissa Heskett | Classy Teachers Stamp Set and Fancy Edges Tag Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Make a teacher feel special with a gift bag!!

The school year is just about over so it's a perfect time to thank your special teachers for a great year!  Larissa created this cute tote bag, perfect for letting a teach know that they are appreciated! She used the image of the teacher holding a chalkboard from our Classy Teachers Stamp Set. She colored the image giving her a lovely bright colored skirt and tights. She colored the chalkboard black and added the sentiment, embossed in white in the center! Most of the sentiments in this set will fit inside the chalkboard which makes it super easy to make a custom card! She cut the teacher and apple out using the coordinating Classy Teachers Die Set before adding them to her project. For the tag she cut out the fun little tag top and scalloped edge using our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set.

She also decorated her gift bag by embossing the little images from the Classy Teachers Stamp Set all over in white to look like images on a chalkboard! So fun! This little gift bag would be perfect for giving the teacher a little gift or some fun treats!

Father's Day Cards by May Guest Designer Anika Mercier

Hi Everyone,

Wow, I can't believe how fast the month has flown by! Today I'm sharing my last guest design post for Newton's Nook Designs. It has been so wonderful working with this fabulous company and I want to thank Jennifer and Samantha again for this fantastic opportunity! I have very much enjoyed sharing my cards with you all - thank you for reading my guest blog posts!

For my last post, I thought it would be fun to share some Father's Day cards ideas. My Dad is very outdoorsy so the new Father's Day stamp set is absolutely perfect for creating cards for him. Today, I'll be sharing with you two card ideas using this fantastic stamp set.

Father's Day Cards by May Guest Designer Anika Mercier | Lake Advice Stamp Set and Bokeh Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Card One
For my first card, I wanted to create a card that was very fishing/water focused.

Backgrounds
This card actually features two background design panels. On the first design panel, I stamped several of the images from the Lake Advice stamp set onto Bristol Smooth cardstock and heat set the images with clear embossing powder. I then colored in the images with a combination of Zig and Arteza watercolor markers.

For the second design panel, I started by inking the entire Bristol Smooth cardstock panel with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. Next, I pulled out the Bokeh Stencil Set and inked the stencils with Salty Ocean and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide inks. This stencil set is fantastic and is so easy to use since there is light etching on the stencils making aligning them a breezy!

Father's Day Cards by May Guest Designer Anika Mercier | Lake Advice Stamp Set and Bokeh Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Sentiment
My sentiment was created by stamping the Father's Day stamp set onto Bristol Smooth cardstock and heat setting it with clear embossing powder. To color the fish, splash, and fishing pole I used the same markers/colors I used on the canoe/kayak panel.

Assembly
Using craft foam I popped up the panel I created with the Bokeh Stencil Set - I think this stencil really creates the feeling of water on this card. Next, I adhered the canoe/kayak panel directly on top of the water/stencil panel. After that, I fussy cut the sentiment and popped it up with craft foam adhering it to the canoe/kayak panel.

Father's Day Stamp Set and Tree Ring Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Card Two
For my second card, I wanted to create a simple monochromatic card which works well for any Dad that likes low key cards.

Focal Panel
On this card, I wanted to feature the Tree Ring Stencil so I started by taping the stencil to a piece of kraft cardstock and inking it with Gathered Twigs and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide inks. Next, I created a custom embossing paste color using Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink. I then applied the embossing paste to the outer edges of the tree ring - I really love how much dimension and interest this adds!

Father's Day Stamp Set and Tree Ring Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Sentiment
I stamped the Father's Day sentiment using Nuvo's Acorn Brown hybrid ink and die cut the sentiment with an oval die. After that, I inked the edges of the oval panel using Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink to give the die cut more dimension/interest.

Assembly
After making a kraft card base I inked the edges using Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink. Once that was done, I fussy cut the Tree Ring image and popped it up using craft foam and then adhered the sentiment overlapping the image.

I hope you enjoyed both of these cards and they give you some ideas for creating your own Father's Day cards. We'd love to see what you're making using Newton's products so be sure to tag #newtonsnookdesigns on Instagram!

Just a Little Note Baby Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Just a Little Note Baby Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Garden Mice Stamp Set and Fancy Edges Tag Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Just a little note for Baby!

Today we are sharing an adorable baby themed card created by Ellen! She created this sweet card with a pocket that holds a pull-out tag on the front for an extra fun and special message! She used the tag from our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set (see instructions on the assembly below).  She also decorated the tag pocket using using the cute image of the mouse from our Garden Mice Stamp Set. She colored the image (see color combo below) and cut it out using the coordinating Garden Mice Die Set to layer it onto her card. She also added on two cute little mushrooms in matching colors, stamped from our Hedgehog Hollow Stamp Set and cut out with the coordinating Hedgehog Hollow Die Set

Tips on creating this card!
Below we have some tips from Ellen on how to create this card with the fun tag pocket and details on her color combo!

Just a Little Note Baby Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Garden Mice Stamp Set and Fancy Edges Tag Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

  1.  (Above left photo) First I die cut out a card base using the Frames & Flags Die Set. I also glued a pocket on my card. You can easily make your own pocket, using a square with 3 extra flaps. These flaps can be used to stick the pocket on your card.
  2. (Above center photo) I die cut out the tag using the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set and stamped a few words on top of the tag from the Loveable Laundry Stamp Set with embossing power. After that it was time to give the tag color with distress inks.
  3. (Above right photo) Then I sprinkled water and white and red ink on top. To ensure that the words remain legible, I placed a piece of paper on the text. To finish the message I die cut the word "happy" from the Walking Woofs Die Set out of glitter paper.

Coloring tips Ellen Haxelmans | Garden Mice Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  1. I colored the mice illustration using Zig markers. Marker Swatch (shown in photo above)
  1. As last step I placed the images on my card and some extra glitter hearts and rhinestones.

We hope you enjoyed the extra instruction from Ellen today! Here is a close up of the final result with the tag pulled out of the pocket!

You're Wheelie Great Card by Samantha Mann

You're Wheelie Great | Cat on scooter Card by Samantha Mann | Newton Scoots By Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Wheelie Great!!

Today have a super cute and colorful card by Samantha that will surely make you smile! For this card she used the image of Newton on a scooter from our with the cute sloth from our Newton Scoots By Stamp Set. She colored the image with bright colors using watercolor markers and cut it out using the coordinating Newton Scoots By Die Set. She then added on fun birthday hat and a trio of balloons using images from our Fabulous Frenchies Stamp Set and cutting them out with the Fabulous Frenchies Die Set! I absolutely adore how the balloons seem to be tied to the back of the scooter and are blowing along!

For the background she created a cheerful yellow was using distress inks and our Sunscape Stencil. She layered a bunch of little clouds from the Newton Scoots By Stamp Set over the stenciled sky. So cute! Then she finished it off with a sentiment along the bottom edge, also from the Newton Scoots By Stamp Set.

Here's a close up:

Howdy! Cowboy Kitty card by Jennifer Jackson

Howdy! Cowboy Kitty card by Jennifer Jackson | Newton Rides West Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Howdy!!

Hello! Jen here today with a cowboy themed kitty card using our Newton Rides West Stamp Set! The image of the kitty on a toy horse wearing a cowboy hat from this set totally makes me smile! For this card I colored the cute image using Inktense watercolor pencils and a water brush. I also colored two cactus images from the set. Then I cut all the images out using the coordinating Newton Rides West Die Set. I decided I need to create a western themed scene so I created a fun orange sky using distress inks on watercolor paper. then I added in two hills using our Land Borders Die Set on two pieces of brown cardstock. The front piece of cardstock was distressed a bit using a little sandpaper block too.

I layered everything together and added the "howdy" sentiment into a circle in the sky to make it look like it's inside a sun. Then I finished the card off with a bit of kraft twine and mounted it all on a kraft colored card base! I love how this turned out!  I hope that this card today makes you smile!

Walking Woofs Card by Maria Russell

Dog Walker Card by Maria Russell | Walking Woof Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Dog Walking Card!

Need a little sunshine today? You are in luck because today we are sharing this super sunny and happy card by Maria! She created this happy scene using the fun image of the lady walking dogs from our new Walking Woofs Stamp Set. She colored the image with copics using fun bright blue and pink for the girls outfit and the dog collars. She cut the image out using the coordinating Walking Woofs Die Set

She layered this image over a fun background that was created using the sun and hills from our Sunscape Stencil.  She added the sentiment, also from the Walking Woofs Stamp Set, layered over the sunny sky. She masked the word "happy" from the stamped sentiment and instead used the  bonus "happy" word die that is included with the coordinating Walking Woofs Die Set! What fun!  A few added sequins add a bit of sparkle for a lovely finishing touch!

Two Puppy Pals Cards by May Guest Designer Anika Mercier

Hi Everyone!

It's always nice to send someone special a sweet card to show them you care or to thank them for their kindness. I absolutely love the Puppy Pals Stamp Set  since it has the perfect sentiments for both occasions and a super sweet image to match! Today I'm sharing two cards I made with this stamp set one is a thank you card and the other is perfect for a special friend.

Two Puppy Pals Cards by May Guest Designer Anika Mercier | Puppy Pals Stamp Set, Plaid Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Card One

Background
Over the winter Newton's Nook Designs released two AMAZING stencils Plaid Stencil Set and Argyle Stencil Set which I absolutely love! I really wanted to use the Plaid Stencil Set on my cards since I think it adds so much interest and dimension. The super neat thing about these stencils is they have a very light etching on their surface so it's easy to line them up and have perfect inking every time.

I taped down a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock and used Tumble Glass Distress Oxide ink for my first stencil layer. Next, I lined up the second stencil (super easy due to the etching) and inked it with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink. I love how these two colors look together such a soft and happy spring combo.

Image
I stamped the Puppy Pals image onto a panel I cut using MFT's Stitched Tag Corner Rectangle dies and then colored it with Copic markers. For the ground and sky instead of using Copics, I thought it'd be fun to create the suggestion instead of a more literal interpretation. So, I inked the bottom of the die cut with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink to give an impression of grass and then inked to top with Tumble Glass Distress Oxide ink to give an impression of the sky.

Puppy Pals Cards by May Guest Designer Anika Mercier | Puppy Pals Stamp Set, Plaid Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Sentiments
For this card, I wanted to use both friendship sentiments in the Puppy Pals Stamp Set. I thought it would be fun to add a pop of color so I silver heat embossed the first sentiment onto soft yellow cardstock. For the second sentiment, I silver heat embossed it onto a soft blue cardstock which also matches the card base. I popped both sentiments up with foam tape and positioned them around the image making sure they were a bit wonky to give them some pop and to draw the eye to the pups.

Finish Touches
To finish off the card I added Glossy Accents over the pups eyes and Black Glaze pen to their noses. Lastly, I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Duck Egg Blue and Simply White around the card panel.

Card Two

This card is made virtually the same way as the card above with a few exceptions.

Puppy Pals Cards by May Guest Designer Anika Mercier | Puppy Pals Stamp Set, Plaid Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Background
While I did use the Plaid Stencil Set for this card too however instead of using each stencil once I used one of the stencils twice which makes the pattern even stronger. I love that about these stencils you can layer and layer them to get different looks.

On this card, I used a combination of dye inks: Lawn Fawn's No. 2 Pencil, Lawn Fawn's Doe, and Altenew's Citrus Burst.

Image
Here again, I colored the Puppy Pals image using Copics but this time to give the die cut an illusion of sky and ground I used Faded Jeans and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide inks.

Sentiment
I wanted this card to be a thank you card so I used that sentiment from the Puppy Pals stamp set. I think it makes for such a sweet thank you card!

Finish Touches
To finish off the card I added Black Glaze pen to the pups eyes and noses and went over the tags on their collars with Glossy Accents.

I hope you enjoyed both cards. I'd love to know which is your favorite so please comment below!

Hello! This is Larissa and I'm sharing a fun Honey Bee Hive Card Today!

Have you ever used your Patterned Stencils in order to add dimension and interest to a shaped card Design!!?? For my Honey Bee Hive Shaped Card Base today that is exactly what I'm going to do!! First I Die Cut the Honey Bee Hive from some Lawn Fawn #2 Pencil Cardstock and then I created Mask to add some shading to the layers of the Hive with a light inking of Wild Honey Distress Ink!! Then I placed the Newton's Nook Designs Argyle Stencil Set over the top and used some Purple tape to hold it in place while I inked with Wild Honey Distress Ink!! I removed the Stencil and the Subtle Pattern adds so much dimension to the design!!

Then I placed the second piece from the Argyle Stencil Set over the inked design and lined up the pattern placing more Purple tape to hold it in place!! Then with the help of the Therm O Web Stencil Pal I applied some Gina K Designs Glitter Glitz Gel in White!! I removed the Purple Tape and the Stencil and set it aside to dry!! Swoon!! It adds such a neat affect to the design!!

To Bee or Not To Bee Blog Hop! | Honey Bee Hive Card by Larissa Heskett | Newton's Costume Party Stamp Set and Argyle Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

I stamped and embossed the images from the Newton's Costume Party Stamp Set and colored them in using Copic Markers!! (Newton: N0, N2 & N4 R00 for the cheeks  Bee Outfit: N8, N6, N4 Y11, Y15 & YR23  Wings: Bg000, BG10) I used the coordinating Newton's Costume Party Die Set to cut the images out and added some White Gel pen highlights, some Aqua Shimmer Pen for some Sparkle and Tonic Studios Black Nuvo Drops to add some dimension!! I also Stamped some of the tiny bee images from the Newton's Day Dream Stamp Set!! I wanted some Bees fling in the opposite direction, so I also used my Ranger Gel Printing Plate along with my Misti Stamping tool to Mirror Stamp a few of the Bees!! Then I Fussy Cut them out!! For the sentiment I Stamped and Embossed the Sentiment from the Loads of Blooms Stamp Set onto a vellum die cut speech bubble using the Speech Bubble Die Sets!! I masked off "Beauty" and Embossed it with some WOW Pearl Gold Glitter Embossing Powder!!
