Today we have our first post from our May Guest Designer, Cassie Tezak! We are so excited to have Cassie designing for us this month! Her use of bright colors and cheerful designs will definitely make you smile! We can't wait to share what she creates with our stamps! Scroll down to read more about Cassie today and to check out her first project!

Hello! My name is Cassie, and I'm so excited to be a guest designer for Newton's Nook Designs! I live in Duluth, Minnesota. Work and school keep me from crafting all day long, but I still manage to get some time working with stamps and ink! I have a year old kitten, Milly, who gets into just about everything and a never ending pile of books to be read :) My style for crafting incorporates a lot of color using different techniques and products. Some of my favorite ways to add color are Distress Inks and Copics. If you'd like to see more of my work my blog is: www.creativelycass.wordpress.com
Hello, everyone! I'm so excited to announce that I am a guest designer for Newton's Nook Designs for the month of May! It's been hard to keep this secret in because I've been so pumped to work with this awesome company. The card I have for today uses a mix of Newton's Nook Designs products, as well as my Distress Oxides to create a fun and bright card that can be sent anytime. Let's take a look.

I started this card by taking a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock and cutting it down to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Then I took some of my stitched circle dies and placed them on the panel. Once I had them where they were spaced out enough, I ran them through my die machine. I wanted to have circles where colored could show through from the bottom piece of paper. I used my Distress Oxides and and ink blender to achieve a rainbow blended look on a piece of paper and splattered it with water to get some of that great oxide effect.

Once that bottom layer was dry I adhered it to the top panel that had the die cut circles. Next I grabbed the Lovely Blooms stamp set and stamped the jar onto some Neenah Solar White. I also stamped a couple of the pieces that are intended to be flower parts, but instead I made them look like a brand and leaves for the insect jar. I also stamped a bee from Wintson's Honeybees stamp set inside the jar, and a couple to be used outside of the jar. I colored all of the images in with my Copics and fussy cut them out./div>

I wanted to have it look like two of the bees had escaped the jar so I took the dotted line stamp from Wintson's Honeybees  stamp set and stamped it using my Misti stamping tool to ensure I got good crisp lines since it was going over the layers of paper. To make the dotted lines look different I masked off the heart on one of them and fixed any imperfections with my Copic Multiliner. I attached the jar and two bees with foam tape. Finally, I stamped the sentiment 'just bee-cuz' in Versamark on some Kraft card stock and heat embossed some clear embossing powder over top. I attached the piece to my card with some glue. The card panel was attached to a card base, and that was it for this card! I just love how these pops of color look against the white card stock. And those cute little bees are just too cute! Their little dotted fly patterns make me smile :D I hope you enjoyed my first card for Newton's Nook Designs! I'll be back again soon with another one. Thanks so much for stopping by!
